The wider field of view is a plus for me. The daytime video feed seem to have better lighting contrast. The night vision image quality on gen 4 is far more clear. The night vision on gen 3 was one of my biggest gripes.
The 90 minutes recording with a subscription I believe is only with the mini and the flood light. You only get 5 minutes continuous with the outdoor 4 camera. That is what the Blink website says.
It lets you view unlimited but pops up a continue button every 10 seconds that you have to click without a subscription, and at least on android can record live video and audio without a subscription by using the record screen feature on android phones that can be added to quick access pulldown menu where you go to turn the phones camera light on for use as a 🔦
Thanks for the Live View explanation. Support pages state you get no custom recording w/o a sub; they don't say anything about the 5 vs. 90 min difference, though
🔒 Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight Camera is a must-have for anyone serious about home security. The weather resistance is a big plus, and the video playback is seamless. Thanks, Plindork, for the budget-friendly offer! 💸
This video was great. Im still on XT gen 1. They have served me so great. I bought a bunch of blink outdoor 3 and now all these updates on 4 I feel so bummed !
I had and still have the blink 3 as the 4 isn't available in the uk as yet but i recently switched to the Ring spotlight cam plus and after using it for a few week's now I'm going to switch back to my blink 3 as i honestly feel blink is better even though they are both 1080p
Can you use the Blink Sync Module from the 3 for the 4? Or does it require a new module? Also, I noticed the 4 does not have the option for early notification detection when it first detects motion, which i rely on. How does the 4 person notification compare to the early notification detection on 3?
Hi! You can have both on the 3 and 4. They both use the same sync module 2 and in 2024, there supposedly is a sync module pro coming out. In general, the 4 early detection is better because it can process further more easily than the Gen 3.
Great video! Very very helpful! I do have a few questions. Did you show a solar case for an exterior camera? I have a house in a very steep hill. Installation would be hard, but 1 time isnt bad. Changing batteries every 2 yeara wold be very difficult (disabilities & trying to find help) but if the outdoor cameras can be solar powered, sold! Also if i get the doorbell and sync 2 now, how easy is it to add indoor & outdoor cams later?
What do you recommend to be able to live stream whenever, and be able to record whenever, if I don't want to pay a subscription? (Don't the hubs help with this issue?)
I saw that the 4 was alot quicker when using Alexa Show. Is it alot quicker when trying to pull live feeds on the app as well? That's my only gripe with the 3 is that it takes so long to pull up live feeds on my phone.
I have the Blink outdoor 3rd Gen cameras (set of 2). How do you view both cameras at once? I am using the Blink home monitor app for ios 17. I can't find the setting anywhere in the app.
Hi! I have to make one and thank you for asking for it. Blink subscription really has 2 tiers. If you have more than 1 blink camera, you will need to go for the higher option to have live view and cloud recording.
I have 3 blink 3's for the last 3 years and the 2 that are are out in the elements more are defective, one of them no matter what lithium batteries I use it only last about a week with almost no detection, the other fogs up every time it is humid outside rendering it useless, I need to buy new ones but probably not blink again
It has the same "2 year" battery life. To be honest, that's typically 2 years under PERFECT circumstances. For the average user, 6-8 months is more predictable for active cameras .
The blink Outdoor 4 detection range is better where you can expect to get about 25' to 30' range under most conditions. Outdoor 3, I feel like you get 25' in ideal conditions and normally expect 20' range or less when the weather is darker or rainy.
I buy a set of this cameras and gonna tell you . Its useless ! Take so long to connect live view and also doesn't get alerts sometimes Too much stress . Buy from Lorex brand , way much better
blink 3 is a waste of money with notification even wind blow, there are better security system out unless you simple want to waste time checking recording, battery 2 yr life is a lie by blink
Thanks for sharing. I got 1 year + on my blink doorbell and about 12-18months on my blink cams depending where they were located. Have never gotten to 2 years of battery life. But as an owner of nest, arlo, eufy, ring, tapo security cams, Blink is great for super easy set up.

If you are grandfathered in a subscription (free) do you still get the extra detection features?

Good review! Thank you for posting!
What's your opinion of the battery pack that goes with the gen for cameras?
Hi I never needed it.
@@TheFrenchGlow thank you

Great video, very helpful!! Just what I needed!! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
Looks like 4 is the clear winner for initial purchase - would you recommend upgrading from 3 to 4 though?
Can you put recording history to a flash drive with gen 4 as you can with gen 3?

What is the cost for a subscription?
Very well organized and honest review. The footage from the outdoor 4 definitely looks better than the 3.
Thanks for sharing! You definitely can see the quality difference from the blink 4 vs Blink 3
Great video! How to turn off the camera? Can you configure the monitoring setting for each camera individually in the app?

Can i use my module to sync my 3 and 4 at the same time
Good Question, I’m trying to figure out the same thing
Can I use the same brackets?
Thank you so much, I've been wondering what the difference between the two. Keep up the great reviews ❤

Why not make them solar powered?
Version 4 doesn't seem to be available here in the uk unless anyone knows different thanks

That's my only gripe with the 3 is that it takes so long to pull up live feeds on my phone.
Hi! Yes blink 4 will connect and appear faster than blink 3 on show as well as on the phone. I think the blink 4 wakes up faster than the 3.
I've seen solar panels for the outdoor 4 gen on Amazon so will I need different batteries for it ?
You remove the batteries when you use solar panels designed for these cameras.
Se le puede poner panel solar?
is Blink 4th Gen working in the UK?
I have the 3 gen flood light, can I use the Gen 4 cameras on my existing flood light ?
Hi! You need an adapter because the plug is now USB c.
Can you disable the led light on the front when recording on the 4?
Hi! You can disable the status led in settings to always be off.
En enlevant le voyant la nuit, ça film quand même ?
I have the Blink outdoor 3rd Gen cameras (set of 2). How do you view both cameras at once? I am using the Blink home monitor app for ios 17. I can't find the setting anywhere in the app.
He’s makes magic 😂
We have 10 outdoor blink 3. Have been happy with them and would not pay more for the outdoor 4.
Any issues ?
So is the modual box the same with 3 and 4
Yes
Do you have a video on the subscription packages and benefits?
Hi! I have to make one and thank you for asking for it. Blink subscription really has 2 tiers. If you have more than 1 blink camera, you will need to go for the higher option to have live view and cloud recording.
@@TheFrenchGlow OK, I am looking at buying the product and was wondering if you have to sign up with a plan/subscription
Can u record live view if u have the sync module?
Hi you need a subscription to record and view live.
@@TheFrenchGlow thank u

The sync module cannot use more than a 64gb usb storage drive, not 256gb.
How long dies the batteries last on 4

Is the motion detection range about the same, roughly 25 to 30’ ?
The blink Outdoor 4 detection range is better where you can expect to get about 25' to 30' range under most conditions. Outdoor 3, I feel like you get 25' in ideal conditions and normally expect 20' range or less when the weather is darker or rainy.
On your video, the range goes from inside out. What about detection or range from 30 feet out? My blink 3 cameras go as far 20 feet.
Bonjour. Peut-on enlever le voyant ? C'est pour mettre dans ma voiture pour des preuves de vandalisme.
Sounds like the Blink outdoor 4 is not worth getting over the 3 especially if the 3 is on sale.
Bought a blink system a few months ago. Completely useless "security" camera. Waste of money
I have a 3 and I can save live views
1:41 “inclemental” LOL
Like the weather? 😁
No
It's a 4 for a reason, haha outdoor 4 is really better than 3.
The wider FOV is actually a negative. Everything looks smaller and the quality is less.
That’s why you zoom in
@@dimviesel - not if they are the same resolution

Hi! It shouldn't be slow if all on same network... But good connection is key for blink cams.
