I was just having some fun, I am a big Ted Nugent fan. I will see Ted live in concert in a couple weeks. I first saw Ted live (same lineup as this video) back in 1978.

    I saw Ted Nugent on the same bill with Mahogany Rush, Journey and Aerosmith. I saw them in 1978 at the old Giant Stadium. That was the first time I have felt a stadium shake. I thought the columns were gonna crack and I couldn't hear properly for almost 3 days. To this day I believe that was the contribution to my hearing problems. My hearing problems started in 1973 at Madison Square Garden when I saw Led Zeppelin 🤯🤕🇺🇲

    • @IanMcSlater

      Your blame for hearing loss being Ted Nugent is much better than mine which is Doobie Brothers ha. I had already seen years of loud punk rock gigs in small places as well as seeing Motorhead several times yet it was standing in front of speakers at Doobie Brothers that blew my ear drum. I saw him at Georgia Jam July 4,1980.
    He was wearing the same outfit as seen in this Vid. He arrived at the venue (Road Atlanta) hanging on a rope swing about 50 feet underneath a helicopter.
    Guitar strapped to his back like a combat soldier.
    Got on stage and proceeded to tear it up and stole the show.
    Those were the days every American should have grown up in.
    I lived about 6 miles southwest of the venue near Lake Lanier .
    It was rumored the concert could be heared that far away.
    I don't doubt it because when the wind is right,before the entire Country came there to live lately, I've heard cars running the track from my house

  • @SteveDehaeseleer

    The order of songs here is changed; the beginning of Ted's concert is at 9:20 on this video. After strapping on his guitar and greeting the 350,000 attendees,, at 9:45 he strums a chord and realizes someone has completely messed up the tuning - Ted looks back over his left shoulder at his guitar tech whom you can see standing there with outstretched arm to swap out the guitar, but Ted opts to tune it right on stage with everyone hearing everything through the PA. Then he plays the opening number of the show, Gonzo. People watching this video may see this occur at 9:45 and wonder, "How did his guitar suddenly get so out of tune between songs?" Now you know.

    • @outoforder2162
      @outoforder2162 Рік тому +1

      No that's completely wrong, he opened with 'Cat Scratch Fever'. 'Gonzo' was the encore after 'Motor City Madhouse'. That's why the guitar is out of tune. I was there, and the soundboard recording of the show confirms this.

    • @SteveDehaeseleer
      @SteveDehaeseleer Рік тому

      @@outoforder2162 I stand corrected. He switched guitars for the encore to "Blackie" and once on stage realized he'd been handed a sadly out-of-tune guitar. The guitar tech does reach out from stage right to offer to swap guitars as vcn be seen; instead Ted just stood there and tuned it by ear (although the G string sounds flat to me during Gonzo).

    This video is an amalgam of various parts of the concert; the actual first moments of Ted on stage start at 9:26. At 9:40, Ted strikes a chord and realizes someone has pranked him and detuned his guitar > he turns to look at his guitar tech. You can see the guitar tech with outstretched hand offering to swap out the guitar at 9:46-9:48, but Ted opted to keep that Black Byrdland and tune the thing right on stage, through the amps, with 350,000+ attendees listening in. Wonder how many guys could do that today. He was also seriously sleep deprived, having been delayed on an African safari that didn't end so well, and wound up flying a Concorde across the Atlantic to L.A. and then a helicopter to Orlando Speedway, where his band was waiting. No rehearsal; they hadn't seen each other in over a month. This was their last performance together; Derek St Holmes and Rob De La Grange had already agreed to leave the band after this festival.

    Story goes, Ted was in Africa on a hunting Safari and he couldnt get a flight out and he just made it back to cali with mins spare. Derek said, it was crazy he changed out of his hunting clothes, grabbed his guitar and ran out on stage like a mad man.
    I can't remember if it was because of a monsoon or some tribal war going on.

    This was the last time that that particular line-up performed together.
    Ted had become a solo act (in his mind) and didn't want the other musicians receiving credit or recognition.

      I believe the drummer stayed with him for awhile longer and a few more albums. When I saw Nugent in concert around 2002 in Orlando Derek St Holmes joined him onstage for a few songs
