      I mean it's still there, we just can't watch it anymore because it was copyrighted by Warner Bros. It's sad to not be able to watch the full documentary, it even had a part 2 which was also 5 hours! Do you remember what the rest of the documentary was about?

      @@meggiegomz There was Smaug, then Beorn and his house and the construction diaries that went into that, the creation of Dale and the Dwarves and Bard's costume, a bit on Erebor and the design philosophy there, making Thranduil's Hall and how there were way too many waterfalls at first, um... I can’t even imagine the amount of stress and pressure that was on the shoulders of these people having to create in film the most famous dragon of all time. No matter how you feel about the Hobbit films, they did a fantastic job and worked tirelessly with passion to create him.

      Take Smaugs body and make it a little longer and heavier maybe with a more armoured look and give him some shorter robust limbs so he can crawl and slither around the battlefield, bridges and tunnels.

    People get caught up in semantics and definitions. Dragon, wyvern, serpent, snake, lizard, worm, slug.
    A four-legged dragon would've been cumbersome. Imagine a four-legged creature trying to waddle through the sea of gold in Erebor. It would have been like a dog splashing in shallow water. Smaug needed to be agile, slithering and sinister, despite his old age. Above all he needed to be a character than simply a cool and creative depiction of a fantasy creature.

    • @emanuelosorio9610
      @emanuelosorio9610 2 роки тому +1

      Six limbs for a vertebrate is also a big disadvantage. Narure has experimented with enough creature designs to know what works and what doesn't. Six limbs requires more energy, more demand for sustainance like food; they take more water, more meat, more space, and more brain command. All vertebrates have four limbs because it works. So giving Smaug four limbs just seemed more natural. They didn't have to hange what nature say already works--at least on earth; of which Arda is sort of an alternate ancient history.

    • @spinosaurusstriker
