@Worldwide handsome Y Well yeah. Lol Luke Evans and Orlando Bloom are pretty hot guys but Lee Pace as Thranduil... Hes a jst beautiful. Everything about him is beautiful. Sad truth- i only watch these clips to see Thranduil 😁

I recently uploaded a video on my channel that has more outtakes with Thranduil (and everyone else) in if you guys are interested :) The video isn't monetised I'm not trying to shill it, just sharing the Thranduil love :D
Opening shot of Lee Pace is absolutely stunning. The rival to him in this film would have to be the special fx creation of Smaug - the dragon was amazing!
It totally is. I love knowing how things work so it's not a surprise that something like behind the scenes makes it all that more magical to me. I saw the movie in 3D last weekend and it was FANTASTIC!!! And to see the polished product after watching the blogs...truly magical! You gotta give them DG guys a hand. I can't imagine all the digital work they do is easy. The director has a walk on roll right at the beginning...watch for him! LOL
I've watched Desolation of Smaug three times now and still can't get enough of it. Can't wait for the blu-ray/DVD. The barrel scene was awesome. Pete Jackson, hats off to you!
I absolutely loved Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. And I can safely said he's my favorite character in The Hobbit. I loved Lee Pace as Thranduil and Orlando Bloom as Legolas but more so in LOTR movies. My only criticism, Legolas looked as old as his father in The Hobbit.
Also there is something different in his attitude. Legolas from “The Hobbit” looks so angry all the time and kind of rude. In LOTR he was calm and looked quite a nice guy. I like his action scenes in Hobbit though. Perfect moves and the dynamics is just... it’s a pleasure to watch him fights.
+Thomas Kirkwood Not only pugs but Asians and blacks as well, lol I'm not being racist, those kinds of dogs and he people of different ethnicity living in Laketown, represents the status of the town as being this center of mercantilism. The town was inspired by Venice which used to be the world's largest center of trade, among silk and many other things of Asia, pugs were brought and later bred in Europe. Then of course came the people, from Africa and Asia, some just trading and leaving and some settling.
(Possible Spoilers?) People- The barrels scene is so amazing. Look out for that scene, the spiders, gandalf and the necromancer, and of course the Bilbo and Smaug. I'd pay full price for those 20 minutes alone. It feels like LOTR again! I know they are totally seperate books/stories for the most part, but it's a good to have that familiar feeling after watching the movie.
Stephen Ramirez i don’t think they meant that the barrel scene was the ONLY thing that reminded them of LOTR. They probably meant everything else they mentioned in their comment too
the Philippines and Morocco don’t have those snowy mountains. i would think iceland is the other place for middle earth, after NZ .. NZ is so beautiful.. i was once in the south island , Hanmer Springs, and looking at the sky. I have never seen so many stars with my bare eyes in my life.
I know I thought the same thing! LOL This whole movie to me didn't feel like it took place in Middle earth for some reason. It felt like kind of Norse, or Celt type film I was watching, not really a Tolkien work.
MDkid1 well tolkien took inspiration from numerous historical and medieval periods in history, so its pretty easy at times to spot nordic, celtic, roman influence in certain environments.
Peter is so great. And but for the heavy costumes, it had to be great fun to be in much of this film. That must have been a piece of work just for Bombur running over rocks and tree roots, then getting that heavy costume soaked in a fast moving barrel. Martin Freeman is so good in this part. I hadn't noticed he was a dwarf running from Eribor.
FRiggin love the inlcusion of Extended edition footage in here as well.... this movie i thought was awesome considering their adapting a 300 page book to a trilogy...dramatic yet not over the top because the departments came together really well
omg orlando please laugh more often for the sake of us all... i have a feeling that this second hobbit will be veeery good! seriously it has an amazing cast! luke lily richard elijah lee benedict ian cate... O.O
I agree with you...on everything you said heheh. I have seen a few exclusive clips, but nothing major on Smaug. I cannot wait to see him! Oh and legolas and Thranduil hehe < 3
11:54-12:08 am I the only one who likes the way the camera zooms out here WAY more than the angle that will probably be produced by the "actual" camera above?
They got Thranduil right... they definitely got him right...such a blessing to the eyes!
lee pace is still in his role when speaking to peter
That's what actors tend to do. They tend to adopt the character and live it out before and during the filming. Sometimes to their own detriment.
I think 85% of the comments are about how beautiful lee pace is lol 😝
@Worldwide handsome Y

All hail the Elvenking Thranduil! how can he be so perfect, that voice, that eyes, that gaze, that smirk, that grandeur physique.
I can't with him ❤️

Smaug was far and away the best CGI of the entire series!
And yeah, the elven king, Thranduil was stunning in more than the opening shot.
" Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!" - Orlando Bloom

Gollum telling Legolas what to do tho

I think you're 'short' a few "yeah, yeah, yeah". I read your post before I saw that part of the clip. Thanks for the extra laughs!
Lee Pace It's so beautiful I could just cry...
Miss pettigrew Lives for a Day. He’s great in that
100th like :>
The elves all had such fabulous hair in this film
I loved Desolation of Smaug....Lee Pace makes sucha beautiful Thranduil
My favorite of the three Hobbit movies.
Lee Pace is amazing 😍 Love his voice sound and his elvish beautiful appearance ❤
Love the way Orlando talks to Peter like he's his dad, always trying to impress him!
Lee Pace is so…..beautiful..
He sure is..
He is marvelous.
I agree to 100%
Hell yea
Breathtakingly beautiful 🤩
5:00 imagine how much fun this would be as an actual water park ride.
In New Zealand we have something like this called black water rafting, but instead of barrels it's inner tubes from tyres !
The technical team is always doing an amazing job on movies. We never think about them but they’re the spine of any masterpiece.

Lee pace as Thranduil is so amazing 🥰😍
It is so weird to see this raw footage and then see the finished film in all it's CG glory. WOW.
Why is it so fascinating to see the "making of"? Don't precisely know, but it just is!

OMG Lee Pace's so fabulous
These sets are absolutely astounding.
Because some of them aren't even sets - they're actual locations! Just mind-blowing...
The Joshinator I know! :D
I'd love to visit New Zealand.
The Joshinator and some of its not even actual locations its greenscreen and cgi!
I actually went to hobbiton for a b-bay present, seeing as I live in nz it wasn't hard getting there :D
Lee speaks so calmly, like a real elf.
But Leggy will always be my fav. Character🥺😍
Tariel wins for me.
06:46 orlando talking to jackson like a little son talking to his dad about something he did haha :D
Make a movie all about the elves and their majestic hair!!! Include our beloved Thranduil.

Lee Peace's elf character.... How can someone so beautiful manage to look so sly and slimy.
He doesn't look sly and slimy tho.... ;-;
Slimy?
@@melissasoh1730 LOL

Orlando is like a child looking for peters approval haha
who won't
It must be so much fun to be part of a shooting of this volume. I would love it, even if only for being an orc thrown into the river.
Bindair Dundat Same here 🙋🏼♀️
Martin Freeman is one great actor...
scumbaggings? :))) haha he is he is tho a set of pics from 9gag made me think different abt him but he is still awsm :))
oh no...not 9gag haha
=)))
I also love him in Sherlock.
Amazing all the work that goes on behind the scenes to create the sets. Astounding vision of the producers, director and hundreds of other people.
i wish i was an elf in the middle earth
Fantasy world same
i think we all wish that
I want to be married to an elf in Middle Earth.
What's with beeing a dwarve?
Thranduil is the only fabulous character in this movie. No she-elf can beat him! 😍

I love how excited Orlando gets at the success of his fighting scenes, and getting to do cool things

AHHH!! LEE PACE AS THRANDUIL!!
06:50
I FUCKING LOVE how enthusiastic and amazing he feels about his work. Orlando is such a class act man..
wow looks awkardly silent when they are acting, but i guess they are used to it
OMG Thranduil 0:01-0:05.
So gorgeous

Cheekbones
They need to keep the laketown set up for the public to tour. It's such an amazing set.
Joe Wallace and Dale as well
The way Thranduil is sitting at 03:09 reminds me so much of a scene with Jareth from "Labyrinth".
9:39 I didn't know they had pugs in Middle Earth...XD
***** Actually, in the second movie, they do have pugs on the street near the begging.

whoops, sorry, I meant to say Andy, not Peter

omg lee pace is so hot😭
Still watching. There is so much wonderful fanfic out there, they could make an entire movie of Greenwood with Thranduil. That would be great.
I think Bard and Legolas look remarkably alike.
Lol ya but different actors doa . bard looks like the role Orlando played in Pirets of the Carrabein
How..?
They both use a bow and arrows or?
I’m assuming your mean how the actors Luke and Orlando look like in real life, cause Legolas the character looks nothing like Bard the character.
