“I don’t care if it takes me another 20 years, I’m going to answer every one of them!”
16 years later: NO MORE FAN MAIL
Well in fairness look at the piles of fan mail in this scene.
He needs to answer the rest
I think it was due to environmental reasons. I think email is still welcome but don’t quote me on that.
✌️"I'm warning you with peace and love!"✌️
😂😂
@@sergei_mikhailovich …Said Sir Topham Hatt.
I find it amusing that he sounds EXACTLY like he did narrating Thomas and Friends
This man can say literally anything and it’ll sound like he’s narrating Thomas the Tank Engine to me XD
Yeah this was probably recorded in 1990 which is around the same time
@@gabe_s_videos Same! It's always a joyful blessing to hear that man's voice.
I rushed in wondering why my mum had Thomas on in the kitchen and got an absolute shocker
It's because this man did narrate Thomas & Friends
“P.S. Forgive the lateness of my reply.” Said Thomas.
I think only millennials will get that one.
@@gregofcanada4494I’m not a millennial and I get this reference
Lol I can’t stop thinking of his narration on TTTE since he was the first narrator of a show I practically grow up with (as well as the late Michael Angelis R.I.P 🙏🏻) 😂
@@gregofcanada4494i'll get the reference
Thank you George said Ringo
Just noticed that Ringo & Homer both say: "Hello, what's this?" when they see their respective letters. Nice touch!
“From Springfield, USA!”
“From merry old England!”
Aidan.
GEAR!
How thrilled he is with the picture is so wholesome for me. Love the way he gets the butler to hang it on a huge wall!
This is my favorite episode. Just love the way Ringo says "Gear!"
yeah now Marge is millennial now so all of this is retconned. I guess you could replace Ringo with Liam Gallagher haha
@@purefoldnz3070 Yeah yeah... and Tina Belcher is still in Jr. High even though she appeared in 11 Halloween episodes, Jubilee is one of the youngest X-men since 1989, The Fantastic 4 got their powers 10 to 12 years ago and Tintin has been 16 years old since 1929.
One of the very few cartoon characters that ages in linear time is Funky Winkerbean.
Over here Funky!
@@murrfeeling sorry but Homer just doesnt work as a Millennial it breaks the show plus he sounds like he's almost 70 because the voice actor is. If the Simpsons was stuck in the 90s it might work but it keeps commenting on current events.
@@murrfeeling oh and btw numb nuts Jubilee is now a teacher at the newly-renamed Xavier Institute.
One of the best guests starring roles in The Simpsons.
He's up there with Patrick McGoohan reprising Number Six.
Beats George Harrison's 'it's been done' cameo. (but I blame the writers for that one)
@@mgabrysSF that was a funny line. The same episode he also shows Homer where the brownies are: “what a nice fellow!”
Barry White is up there for me
Ringo is a great man.

@@bigmacsama keep expecting him to say “on The Island of Sodor.”
I actually came here to say this bit, as oddly enough he actually does.
@@darkapostle1749 yeh it’s so cool that he narrator the first two seasons. Those are my favorite his voice fits it so well. George Carlin and Alec Baldwin were great too tho. Thomas had star power back in the day.
@@clayjack9969 its actually weird hearing the US versions of the show (heard one episode with George Carlin); hell even the US versions with Ringo in it is weird, particularly when the edits have been not done right.
Was this around the same time he was doing Series 1 and 2?
this is beautiful. Homer, despite showing jealousy earlier in the episode when learning Marge had a crush on Ringo, knows exactly what the letter is about and encourages her to finish the painting at the right moment. Marge, despite actually being convinced by Ringo's words of praise, pays it back to Homer by saying she will, if only he thinks she can do it. thats real love!
🎵It's real love🎵
The fact that he was the narrator of Thomas The Tank Engine
And he still sounds like him.
LOL Ikr?
They probably recorded both this episode and the Thomas narration in a studio with similar systems.
Ringo Starr's speaking voice sounds similar to Ringo Starr's speaking voice, crikey.
He really sounds like himself.
I KNOW, HUH?! You could literally take any one of these lines and add “Said Thomas/James/Gordon/Henry/Sir Topham Hatt/etc.” to the end, and it would still sound in character 😆
Ringo is one of my favorite guest starr-s
gear!!
Nice pun!
EYYYYY
Ringo star's performance in this was GEAR!
Thomas the tank engine tells his fans his favourite colour is blue
Well of course, blue is the only color for a proper engine. Everyone knows that :D
Is his favourite colour blue?
I can never unhear ringo's voice from thomas
Me neither
same
As a kid, watching this episode, all I heard was Thomas the Tank Engine, due to me being obsessed over that show when I was little.
He's clearly doing the Thomas voice here, he doesn't talk anything like that in real life 😊
Same with me. Hearing Ringo's voice I think Thomas The Tank Engine.
@@tezzrexxWell not anymore sadly. Well it’s natural, since he is aging bless him.
In the starting 'somewhere in England' is a reference to a George Harrison album.
No. It's reference to Ringo being English.
It kinda works both ways though
Ringo, George and Paul were all on the Simpsons. If John was still around, I bet they'd actually have reunited on the show.
I distinctly remember one of the writers on the dvd commentary for one of these Beatles guest voice episodes asking "do you think Lennon would have done the show?" and another going "oh, totally. I think we could have gotten him if he knew the other three had already done it."
"Hello! What's this?" Asked Thomas
no more fan mail after the 20th october to any address its gonna be tossed
1:01 "And then they had a lovely picnic supper of fish and chips"
_(Lip-smacking sound like Yukon Cornelius licking his pickax)_ “MMM!!! That _was_ good!” Said Sir Topham Hatt. “But fish don’t suit you, Thomas. You mustn’t do it again.” “No, sir. I won’t.” Said Thomas sadly. “Engines don’t go fishing. It’s too uncomfortable.”
This is so sweet. Captures the tenderness and love Ringo has about him - why the fans and also his fellow bandmates treasured him...he's a pretty damn good drummer too!
"Ringo's not the best drummer in the beatles" I still remember that one lol
This scene always warms my heart

Even on a different show, every time he talks, I always hear the narrator of Thomas the Tank engine.

“Brush with Greatness” is my most favorite episode focusing on Marge.
It’s so amazing how Ringo was the first of the remaining living “Beatles” of that time to guest star.
Why did you put Beatles in quotes?
Marge in season 2 was badass
Mine as well
He answers every fan letter!
...
Wow, what a nice fella!
He did once.
He stopped 16 years after this episode because he was so busy.
So not exactly 20 years.
Still peace and love to Ringo. ✌️❤
WOW WHAT A NICE FELLA!!!!!
It's been done
Zach Hadel's long lost relative
That's Ringo Starr who most remember for his narration of the TV show Thomas the Tank Engine which was his big claim to fame! I guess Marge Simpson must have been a huge fan of the show when she was a child.
I think he was also in a band once, too... ;)
Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends started on TV in 1984 - I doubt Marge was a child then.
@@Hellwyck Or she was a fan of the original 'Railway Stories' books by the Reverend Wilbert Audrey and his son Christopher. Nah come to think of it, that sounds more like Reverend Lovejoy.

I like how they drew him, it's cartoony but not unflattering like his portrayal in the old Beatles cartoon
Given how Bart described him as the mop top with the big schnozz
Or how he’s portrayed in Family Gyy
@@mrcritical6751 Ugh do not get me started with that one. I can take some jokes on the show, but Ringo is where I'm drawing the line on.

That’s his actual voice
_Once, an engine attached to a train_
_Was afraid of a few drops of rain._
_It rushed into a tunnel and squeaked through its funnel and wouldn’t come out again._
The engine’s name is Henry. His driver and fireman argued with him, but he wouldn’t move. “The rain will spoil my lovely green paint and red stripes!” He said.
The passengers got off and argued with him, even after the rain stopped. “Yes, but it’ll begin again soon!” Henry told them. “Then what’ll become of my paint?”
Then, along came Sir Topham Hatt, the man in charge of all the engines on the Island of Sodor. “We will pull you out!” He said. They all pulled except him. “My doctor has forbidden me to pull.” Then they tried pushing from the other end of the tunnel. But it didn’t work. “My doctor has also forbidden me to push.” They tried pushing with another engine, but it didn’t work either.
In the end, they took up the old rails, built a wall in front of Henry, and left him there. How long do you think Henry will stay in the tunnel before he overcomes his fear of the rain and decides to journey out again?
Exactly how he sounded in Thomas the Tank Engine season 2. That episode got me hooked when I first watched it as a kid.
This bloke could narrate anything and I would think I was watching thomas the tank engine
Same here.
I wonder how Ringos letter even made it to Evergreen Terrace.
As it was addressed with Marges maiden name, I'm guessing she was living elsewhere, possibly with her own parents at the time she painted his portrait.
The postal service works in mysterious ways.
@@dignifieddingo8698 The postal service works?!
Oh, Bart. Cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic.
A mail wizard did it.
I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder
You gotta admire him for being so devoted to his fans. Usually, if you send a fan letter to someone very popular, you might not get a response for years as so many others write to them at the same time and plus popular people have very busy lives.
I like that young Marge was desperate to know if they have hamburgers in England
I HUNG IT ON ME WALL
It's a good thing Marge sent her fan mail before the 20th of October
"Me favourite colour is blue...."
So that's why Ringo narrated Thomas and Friends!
I think too much of Thomas the Tank Engine when I hear him.
0:41 YEEEEAH
Gear!
I always loved that Marge was a Ringo fan.
"But I think she deserved that response, don't you?"
Best Beatle Guest
I'm loving all the Thomas comments on here. Everytime I watch this, I close my eyes and imagine it's a Thomas episode lol.
“Gear!” That had me chuckling. That’s some very era specific regional English slang. Pure 60s/70s Merseyside that is.
The times when celebrity cameos in "The Simpsons" didn't feel forced
Its hard not to respect a celebrity that doesnt brush off his fans and takes the time to answer every one of them
I am obsessed with his voice
I love how Ringo not only took the time to reply to EVERY fan, but he also apparently figured their current addresses. Fairly certain 742 Evergreen Terrace was NOT Marge’s original return address
Gear!!
Ringo is awesome.
"hello! Whats this!"
Said sir topham hat
😂 good one, I love Thomas the tank engine references
I don't remember this episode of Thomas the Tank Engine.
Maybe it might have been on "The Fat Controller's portrait and other stories"
Even after her idol complimented her, she said _"ok Homer, if _*_YOU_*_ think I can"._
Thomas is a tank engine, who lives at a big station on The Island Of Sodor, he's a cheeky little engine; with six small wheels, a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler, and a short stumpy dome.
He's reading those lines the way he narrated Thomas.
Wonderful! That's my favorite episode of all time! That reminds me of the time when Ringo was the first narrator of Thomas and Friends in the USA when it first broadcast in 1989!
He was even the narrator of the first two series' of the original UK version back in 1984! Fortunately, the UK original was never dubbed over after Ringo, like with George Carlin on the American version; I do think that Ringo is the best narrator of the show overall, across the two different countries.
This made me a huge fan, Ringo seems like a super cool dude
“P.S. Forgive the confusion and delay of my reply.”
i love that the letter is addressed to marge bouvier, she wrote it before she was married to homer. classic small detail
PEACE AND LOVE!!!

I just love how Marges question was if they have french fries and hamburgers in England .
"Brush With Greatness" is such an awesome episode.

It's great to watch this scene again - it's one of my favourites 😊
"...said Thomas."
Happy birthday, Ringo Starr. ❤️
It definitely takes me back when Ringo Starr used to be the Thomas narrator a classic voice of if I ever heard one.
Who's here after his half-decade late response to the fan? 😂
It was time for Thomas to leave. He had seen everything!
That night, the two friends made up their quarrel. “I’m sorry I caused your accident on purpose, Thomas.” Said Percy. “You do know that, don’t you?”
“Yes. And I’m sorry I teased you.” Said Thomas. “Your green paint looks splendid again. In the future, we’ll both be more careful with coal.”
"Ol you!"
@@Da.Liar-PigAt first, Thomas was jealous, but he was so pleased when Toby rang his bell and frightened the policeman, they've been firm friends ever since.
I imagined Thomas being in the office. 😂
