I maybe could explain a couple of differences here in Ireland in 2023 ,everything went up after 2020 in Ireland due to Covid 19 bread an example €1.30 in 2019 by 2021 had gone up to €1.60 second the Ukraine War has made grain scarce,electric prices have shot up to over €2.20 for the same loaf you paid €1.30 in 2019,Your not wrong in thinking that before you left South Africa the prices were on the whole on a par with Ireland, you would actually be correct in 2019,food inflation in Ireland has shot up, and there is yet another reason too unnoticed in Ireland Tesco is a British company, and Britain has now left the EU so there are import duty on some goods others you just can't get anymore and they have been subbed with products from Belgium or France...
Hi we just arrived in Ireland Maynooth. We have been shopping alot in Dunnes, Aldi and Lidl. SuperValu often have 3 for 10 euro on meat products. Also Dunnes give you back a 5 euro voucher when you spend more than 25 euro.
I avoid Tesco for most of what you bought especially now with their loading for people who don't have clubcards, preferentially I shop at Lidl. Your hair looks really nice down btw.
I find Tesco is the best quality for best value for money. Lidl is the most affordable for staples and meat but their fresh food does not last/already going off in the store.🙈 Thanks so much! 🤗
I don’t know how to assess what would be your weekly budget percentage wise compared to what you made in South Africa. I’m assuming in South Africa the salaries are lower maybe I’m wrong. Did they make any sense?

Not necessarily but we tend to prefer Tesco because we generally don't spend as much. Mostly because Dunnes has so many amazing options, I get carried away 🤣

Tesco tends to be more Pick & Pay level than Checkers. Much more pricey than Aldi
Tesco has Lidl and Aldi price matching on some of their items at the moment but do agree Lidl and Aldi are cheaper 🤗
