    Not too shabby for a 65 year old locomotive , loved watching the Geeps (GP7) of Western Pacific switching and kicking cars when I was a kid in the late 60's , the sound of that Roots blower ! ❤️👍

    It makes me so happy to see a former southern pacific Geep still working! Way to go EMD!! And way to go whatever railroad operates the engine. I love it still has the front hood

    Good to see the old girl still earning her keep after all these years.

    Built to last. These old Geeps can probably go for 100s of years.

    I saw it when I would get my truck loaded at Cargil. She's an old girl, but she's doing what she was intended to do. And, I would like to say todays cookie cutter locomotives don't hold a candle to the beauty of the old locomotives.

      This is horn is blasphemy isn’t it? Gotta have a Nathan P3 or M3, those are the proper horns for her.

    Someone needs to tell that engineer it’s a horn not a toy. If I was that conductor I’d be having a one way conversation with him.

      Technically your not supposed to let off the horn till the lead locomotive clears the crossing.

    • @ohboy3622
      @ohboy3622 5 років тому

      onrr1726 that is incorrect. You only have to blow the horn until the lead wheels get on the crossing. Must start 15 but no more than 20 seconds before with 2 longs, a short and a long. Maybe prolonged if you end the last long before entering the crossing

      I didn't see much wrong with the whistle blowing here... the groundperson having to endure the whistle blowing like this is part of the consequence of flagging the crossing... and there's no way of getting around it... for LEGAL purposes, the engr better cover himself and blow... over blow if necessary... so the conductor had better cover his ears or where some hearing protection... there also has to be a rapport between the condr and engr... they both know the obligation to blow the whistle... I would always cover my ears and my engr would always watch me to see me covered before he would blow... because you can certainly injure with that whistle
