I was at this plant, with a tanker for used oil for preheating, huge plant and the views of Lake Michigan were fantastic, The trains that run through Gary were flying and multiple tracks to navigate!! The mills are long gone here in Youngstown area, 😩

Same here Rebekah. I grew up on 45th and Maryland by St.Joe the Worker church. I miss Stanley's IGA and Scarsdale Rx. Grew up with the Plesac brothers.

At our plant in GA, you would have been stopped and escorted out of the plant for rolling through stop sign/crosswalk like that, but maybe it's just video edit.

I was doing electrical work for slab caster #2 back in around 84 or so. When completed, George Bush senior, as the vice president, came to give some blabbering speech prior to beginning it's operation.

Interesting seeing this video of the trucker bringing in cold mill rolling oil, probably to the six stand of the north sheet mill. would like to see what that place looks like now almost 50 years later.

If they knew you were filming inside the plant you would be banned for life.

Heck, just looking at the mill with your eyes from public property is enough to get you banned by U.S. Steel security (that's how strict they are!).
