I love your appreciation of the GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD! 48 year fanatic. Picked up their debut in June 1974 upon US release. I was 13. I wore bell bottoms. I'm now 61. No more bb but nonstop RUSH!
Love this song! Most of the lyrics were written by Neil Peart but Geddy and Alex wrote a few songs here and there and this one was written by Alex Lifeson. Yes, I wore bell bottoms and platform shoes. ✌️🌼
Oh, Yes. One of my fav early ones A note guys: Alex wrote this. There's a video from a TV show he was a part of. Bunch of teens in a house 4 a Sumner. He was 17, wanted to drop out of school, make music. One day parents come to discuss kid's ideas & plans & they are tryin to tell Alex to finish school. They were WWII refugees and wanted him to have a stable life. No one yelling just talking. Later Alex said in a documentary, "They were right". Lessons seems it could be partly a reflection on his parents, others trying to pass on a lesson he didn't hear then but understood better at that time, and wants to teach now. So glad you played this one!@
It has certain whimsy to it, don't you think? Everything up to that point sounded so serious, and then this track presents itself like 20 tons of pure fun coming at you, ready or not.
I first heard this album when I was 15 years old and it was weeks before I flipped it over to hear the B side. 2112 was just that fucking good. I've forgotten a lot of things in my life but I'll never forget the first time I heard this. Great song, one of my favorites, thank you for posting!
1976. I was 14 . Yep, bell bottoms, platform shoes and long straight hair. Fan since 1974 tho... blessed to have seen them live in the 70's/early 80's. My number 1 favorite band. #RushArmy I'm still wearing skinny jeans.. and bell bottoms are not the same as wide leg, bell bottom jeans were tight all the way to the knee.
I've always said this song could easily be played on the radio. But they never do. Would be a nice refreshing change from the other songs they play over and over and over on AOR.
I would buy my Levi’s bell bottoms long so the back of the flare at your heel was dragging on the ground, because it would get all ripped and stringy in the back… that was a thing too.
I shredded both sides of my Levi bell-bottoms and wore motorcycle boots with the buckle. I never like pants that were too long it s dangerous if they get caught by your shoe. If I remember it was 1969 and I got a few compliments on those bellbottoms
Side 2 might be the least played album side ever, which is a pity because it's really excellant. The problem is and always has been that side 1 is so mindblowing that after it you need something different than RUSH.
Wow…. Very good pick…. This song was NEVER reacted to…..thank you for having good taste and not following the lead of know nothing Rush fans that always recommend the worst from Rush….

2112 is such an iconic work, but it has always been the case that Side 2 is often overlooked.
I agree. side 2 rocks!
You can't get something for nothing.
Sweet Memories. Use to listen to Rush in High School in the 70s. Good ol days
This is one of the few songs in Rush’s catalog that Alex has sole songwriting credit
Whoa, you guys are going into the deep cuts! One of my early favorites.
Great deep cut! One of my favorites of theirs. Don't forget that other bands have wonderful deep cuts as well.
Such an underrated song. Just straight up rock and roll
Rush is the Greatest 3 man band of all time
I wore bell bottoms and platform shoes. I also wore elephant pants and earth shoes. Look those up. 😆

Side two of 2112 aint no joke solid from start to fininsh.
Oh, Yes. One of my fav early ones

This track is one of Rush’s hidden gems that often gets overlooked. Sounds like it could fit in on the soundtrack for a Guardians of The Galaxy movie.
It has certain whimsy to it, don't you think? Everything up to that point sounded so serious, and then this track presents itself like 20 tons of pure fun coming at you, ready or not.

The lyrics in this classic song says it all....

I had the coolest lime green paisley print bell bottoms in the early 70s.
I've always said this song could easily be played on the radio. But they never do. Would be a nice refreshing change from the other songs they play over and over and over on AOR.
A song that many overlook. One of my personal favorites. One of the great guitar outros here
The way Alex lifeson is playful bending those notes is great
One of my favorite Rush tunes among many! So good!!
If I had one album to listen to for the rest of my life this is it🤘
One of my favorite Rush songs.
Loved playing this on guitar.
Loved? You stopped? 😢
@@JasonMarshMusic depression is a bitch, Jason.
@@2dashville I know. Stay strong and I hope you get the help you need.
Now you know where Steve Harris got his bass lines.
I use too have the big Bell Jeans and Levi still make them big bell jeans if you call them up and ask for them.
The lyrics of Neil were, are and will always be so thought provoking.
What you say about Neil’s lyrics is of course very true. But this song is one of the very few Rush songs that Neil did not write……..
Check out cygnus x1 book 2 off of Hemispheres. Such a great story telling song
That is unusual for Rush to be considered flower child hippies , But this song dies that , a very different style for the band
all the monster musical chops you hear nowadays, rush had already played them all in the seventies.
All hail to Rush
If you roller skated...you wore bell bottoms.
The Mrs. is looking fine!

Are you going to be finishing up May reactions this weekend? Do you have my link?
Yeah. I just started them today!

Are you doing a livestream later?
Hey I know I'm early but think about rollin Big & Rich With cowboy Troy next Friday or whenever you do another video it's awesome.
I'd pay good money to hear more of the recording where the lead solo jamming at the end fades out far too soon
Bell Bottoms we’re gone at this time
