    Also they swept the Animation Awards, 9 nominations, won every one of them. That was quite a feat. Now you need to watch Bridging the Rift, which is the making of the show.

      they didnt just take home 9 out of 9. they took home the record for a television show with the 3rd most animation awards ever won in the history of the Annie's. and that's including the Simpsons at #1 most ever with a touch over 30 Annie awards in 30 seasons and I think Bob's Burgers in #2 at like 15 awards in 12 seasons. While Arcane only has a single season. It also set the record for the most Annie awards won in a single year with 9, and the previous record was a whopping 4. Arcane more than doubled the previous record.

    To add on, if there are any actual League players watching this, it also has TONS of references to the game and other character's lore. If you know League lore you'll notice a lot of background things happening that clearly are going to lead into season 2. It's absurd how much is hidden or slightly referenced in this show.
    also, you won't be upset that they're making season 2 after seeing season 2. They set up so much insane shit in season 1 that someone who hasn't read League lore just couldn't notice. It's going to be amazing.

    • @crimsoneclipse0618

      Yeah, people just don't notice it because it's not obtrusive and don't get really focused on like 'hey guys, did you know that this is from the game? Notice it because it's a reference from the game' way that some adaptations do. It's just there for the people who already know it, and the people who don't know it won't even realize it's there.

    The best way to describe the writing is, that the writing is character driven and not story driven. Everything the characters do make sense and they write the story instead of the characters living the story like most shows.

    • @The_Isaiahnator
      @The_Isaiahnator 3 місяці тому

      Yeah, this is one of those shows where the writers had to empathize deeply with each character and play their psychologies off each other rather than have a rigid plot in place where the characters then operate within that rigid framework. What's even more remarkable is that the pros and cons of each characters' position are explored, increasing the complexity of their interactions with each other. I still can't fathom how they did it.

    Arcane season 1 was in production even for 6 years, although this was the whole time from early concepts to the final product and also they did not work continously on the show for all of the 6 years. At one point the production paused, since the early versions of the show sucked and they needed to find additional writers to help them out. The showrunners Christian Linke and Alex Yee never had worked on a project like this before and after some time they needed some help to make the show the masterpiece at it is. I highly recommend to watch the 5 part making of of Arcane called Bridging the Rift.

  • @The_Isaiahnator
    @The_Isaiahnator 3 місяці тому +1

    At first, I remember having one or two videos in my UA-cam feed hailing Arcane as a masterpiece. I ignored them, not because I have something against League, but because I was genuinely uninterested (and also because I thought the praise came more from biased fans than from unbiased audience members).
    Then, more videos kept popping into my feed. Still, I ignored them, but Arcane was now on my radar. After finally giving in and deciding to watch a few video essays, I became more intrigued. Never before had I seen something recieve unanimous praise so quickly. I now had to watch Arcane for myself.
    After watching it twice, I can undoubtedly say that it's a once-in-a-decade masterpiece. It managed to do in one Season what many shows take several to achieve. Even if subsequent Seasons fail to live up to the first, it should still be considered a landmark achievement.

    Riot didn’t want to make a tv show out of a video game so they really outdid them self with the character development in arcane to appeal everybody. I’m very nervous with S2 because I really don’t want riot to mess it up.

    • @peaceandloveusa6656
      @peaceandloveusa6656 4 місяці тому

      I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. Riot trusts the Arcane team to levels unheard of in the industry, and that was even before the Arcane team delivered on that trust. They chose the right people for the job, then sat back and threw money at the project until the Arcane team told *Riot* it was ready. From what I have heard, even the leaked release date for season 2 was what the team told Riot, not the other way around. Even with the leak putting Riot in a tough spot, I fully believe (with what they have shown thus far) Riot would push back the release date in a heartbeat if the Arcane team said they needed more time than they initially thought. We will get season 2 when it's ready, not a second before.

    I agree that Arcane season 1 was so carefully crafted that spoiling anything beyond saying, "Seriously, go watch it. It's so good in every way you can imagine, and some you cannot" feels like a disservice to the potential viewer. Every pixel, every sound, was so ridiculously intentional with this show it is unreal. It is no wonder they spent about 1 year of development per hour of runtime.
    A point of promise with season 2 is they are taking their sweet time with releasing it. They could have chosen profit over art and rushed season 2 to strike while the iron is hot, but they didn't. As hard as it is to wrap my head around the Mona Lisa of television being re-created in season 2, I am more than 50% confident it will be done and then some. Everyone involved in this project has the talent and the passion necessary to re-create the phenomenal quality of season 1 - and unlike most big-budget projects now-a-days especially - the money-men funding the project are 100% behind dumping as much time and money into the project as the creators deem necessary.
    It seems to me like season 1 was proof of concept for the people behind Arcane: League of Legends, not the goalpost. I would not be surprised if season 2 goes even harder than season 1 in terms of character/plot progression, while maintaining the same level of quality as season 1.

    You're not wrong....about any of it. For me....every movie, every book, every story, every tv show....it's ALL about characterization. If you don't get into the characters, the story doesn't matter, the visuals don't matter, the soundtrack doesn't matter. And this show absolutely delivered. On EVERY level. Absolutely fantastic.They got the characterization right (I don't know the game at all, but they nailed the adaptation) and that allowed the visuals and writing to absolutely shine. Beautiful....just Beautifully done. The only show that comes close in recent years is Sandman.

    Animation was phenomenal. Story was decent. But I do think the fightscenes lacked a little weight to them.

      I really loved the story myself but im a sucker for some of the cliches in it lmao. Fights i thought were fantastic but i can see why the weight aspect can be a little annoying :)

      Bro saw Vi knocking a guy out and then they realistically fall limp, and called it "lacked weight"

      Wait what? How? The fight scenes literally had a ton of weight. Were we watching the same show lol

      @@jalcome4201 yah, wtf? When I think of weight in a fight scene I think of Arcane as the gold standard. People's attacks felt like they MATTERED more than attacks in anything I've seen.

      @@Thestickymanyt Someone will need to explain to me why. Perhaps some prior knowledge regarding Night City might have been necessary. Odd time jump, jumbled story, and for the most part unlikeable characters.

    Welcome to the excruciating wait for S2 and the seemingly ever losing battle that is trying to convince people the show is actually THAT good 🥲
