- With the new cross season slowly rearing its head, here is a guide about the very basics of cyclocross. This is very much a video for people who are looking for a first introduction.
A more serious and complete season rundown should be coming round soonish.
It would be great to see a video on the bikes and equipment used, Specifically how they have changed over the years and affected the racing.
CX with special thanks to Belgium, for keeping it alive for all those years.
Namur and Kokzijde are my favourite races, but I watch them all.
Enjoyed the video! I'm starting my cx "career" this fall in the Masters 50+ category (LOL). Seriously, it is a great segment of the sport, and I'm looking forward to watching the races at Waterloo here in Wisconsin.
Your channel should get more views and subs ... A+ content as usual
Love your content! If you can find a way - Try to come to Waterloo for the first WC! Trek throws the best party, and it's an incredible event every year! Come for the racing, stay for the cheese and beer at the Secret Bar!!
Thank you from Truckee California
Cross is the best form of cycling.
Excellent pronunciation of the Dutch place names
Great video
Thanks for making this video!…it was very informative!…😎
spring classics, the 3 grand tours, DH and Cyclocross...thanks youtube 👍
To me it's the most entertaining sport to watch on TV or real live. Altough Van der Poel can make it boring sometimes if he desides to lead the race from start to finish lol.
Thank you for your video i really enjoyed it. Last October I went to a National Trophy event at Callander Park in Falkirk, Scotland. I noticed slower riders being taken off periodically. I guessed it was to prevent lapping and the whole thing getting messy. Can you explain how that all works? Thanks, Brendan.
Heya mate,
Your guess was right, there's a rule that's generally called the 80% rule which means that if you are 80% of the lap behind the leader you get removed from the race, usually to prevent lapped riders getting in the way of the leaders. This doesn't count as a disqualification and a DNF, so say you are 59th on track when you're removed from the race you get to keep that 59th position. Thanks for the lovely compliments and hope this helps!
Great explanations…but I would hardly say the places on the start grid are determined by “arbitrary” rankings. Those ranking are directly dependent on placings in previous races! Not “arbitrary” things like the riders eye color or shoe size or brand of bike they ride! Still love your channel though…one of the best CX channels on UA-cam.
