    Thank you for the video. My recorder was on 1.72 version. For some reason "Mode" section disappeared from the menu. I updated my recorder as you explained. Everything went well. Now all sections are active

    Hi there! Thank you for your help and this isn't working for me. At point 2:57 in your video, I get an error message asking me to power off the Zoom Handy Recorder, instead of "Checking Data". Any advice there? On the Version Up screen, just before I press ok, my system is 1.72=>**** instead of 1.90=>1.90, and the boot is 1.01. Thank you so much for your help!

      It seems when I extract the firmware file to my Mac book, it unzips the pdf but the System.Bin file remains in a zip format. When I try to extract it, I get the error "Unable to Expand SYSTEM.BIN". It is an unsupported file. Thank you for your help letting me know what I'm missing.

      Hi. Sorry to hear you're having trouble. I don't use Macs but on Windows the zip file just extracts into a folder containing the pdf and BIN files. I can also manually open the zip file in Windows Explorer and copy the BIN file and then paste it on to my desktop or SD card. Can you perhaps do the same on a Mac?

    I did a factory reset because of terrible static - and half my menu disappeared - I updated the firmware but it hasn't changed

      I don't think a factory reset would help with "static". That's more likely caused by something like a poor connection, faulty socket, etc. Also, a factory reset shouldn't change the menu to the extent that half the menu options have disappeared. Contact Zoom support.

    Hi, can you help me? I have in hand a new Zoom H1n, "new" version of Zoom H1, I updated the firmware, installed the software in my windows 10 to use it as a microphone, everything looks fine. Hearing the mic, its good, but too low, i have to change the volume in the Zooms button to 8-10 to get a better volume, but it capture all the ambience. So i decided to change the Mic Levels in mic proprerties, but it shows me that the level is 0 at the bar. I can click, but cannot change it, cannot raise the volume inside the system. This is strange, can you help me in it?

      Sorry, I can't help you with your computer's settings. But by increasing the mic gain you're making the mic more sensitive, and therefore you will inevitably pick up more of the room ambiance. To cut down the ambiance get the microphone closer to your mouth so that you will appear louder to the H1n. You can then turn down the mic gain on the recorder and ambiance will seem much quieter. In addition, you can also treat the room. If you can't put acoustic tiles on the walls, add some soft furnishings to the room and hang some blankets or drapes.

    what are the benefits of updating? what works better or has improved?

    • @DIYVideoStudio
      @DIYVideoStudio  4 місяці тому +1

      Running the latest firmware ensures you have access to any new features and bug fixes. The degree of improvement depends on how recent your firmware is on your recorder. For instance, the firmware on a newly bought Zoom mH5 will be version 2.20, which is later than the "newest" version you can download from the Zoom Corp website, so there is no advantage in trying to update. But if you have a recorder that was bought several years ago and has never been updated, there will be benefits.

    What kind of USB do you use? Mine doesn't fit.

      The Zoom H4n/H4n Pro and H5 both have mini USB ports, so you'll need a cable with a mini USB connector at one end.

    hello, my macbook 2020 with m1 doesn't recognize the h4n pro. I try some tricks that i found in the web. Can you help me, please?

    • @DIYVideoStudio
      @DIYVideoStudio  11 місяців тому

      @virnapacheco2321 Thanks for leaving a comment. I don't use a macbook so I'd be guessing as to the source of your problem. However, if you know anyone who also has a macbook, I would try the H4n Pro on their machine. If the recorder is recognized, then the problem may be with your macbook. If the H4n Pro is not recognized, then the problem could be with the recorder. Another thing you could try is to use a different USB cable.

      Check that you downloaded the firmware update for your Zoom recorder. Also, did you unzip the file? You need to extract the System.bin file and use that and not the actual zip file.
