I’m a mechanic that has a little farming in my blood from doing it as a kid and I’ll get home from wrenching all day, haying all evening, and still turn on a farming video.
I built million dollar homes in the Colorado mountains after decades in the trades BUT... When I grew up in the Chicago 'burbs in the 50s and 60s, my best memories come from times spent on my cousin's dairy farm in southern Wisconsin. Now I'm on the wife's family ranch with a large-ish permaculture garden and some hogs, Goa, and chickens. I think that food is primeval and processes to grow and get it to us are not only essential to modern living, but intrinsically fascinating.
Until recently, I was a 3rd generation dairy farmer in Michigan. My dad and uncle were "green paint....koolaid drinkers". Our German built JD chopper couldn't handle thick windrows of HAY. Seriously! The anti-hardware sensor kept going off, and a German mechanic was sent out to learn why / troubleshoot! My father/uncle sold the farm, but I HAVE farmland being rented by the new dairy management team! I am obsessed with their Claas-es (what is the plural of Claas?)
Sad part is if they wouldn't of milk as many cows as they do or farm as many acres as they do claas probably wouldn't of gave them the time of day to help them out but because they were a big farm they bent over backwards for them....

Are you expecting a million dollar equipment to me demoed at your 20 acre farm? Also, improve your english, 'probably wouldn't of gave them', google where of is used, there should have been 'have' there and same problem here 'they wouldn't of milk as many'.
Plot twist, this dairy single handedly ran all small time dairy operations within the tri-state area out of business over the past 20 years and has now monopolized the dairy industry in the tri-state area.
I mean you could…. It would just be a lot to put through a combine. You’d be taking the whole stock and I don’t see how it would work with the separation. You’d plug pretty quick I’d assume.
With how things are (d)evolving, weather-wise, I think making a head specifically for downed crops was a super big-brain move on Claas' part. The weather isn't gonna be getting any better. The biggest scam about Climate Change is that we would have been able to do something about it back when they first knew about it (40+ fucking years ago), but now it's simply too late. All the carbon-reduction methods at our disposal won't do shit at this point, and extra taxes based around it are gonna accomplish even less. It's just their way of further-profiting off the hell they've created.
Way to go Claas. You stepped up to help a farmer in need. I’ve seen lots of companies loan out demo equipment and it’s a wonderful thing.
I’ll keep you guys in mind the next time my three twenty foot rows of corn in my backyard garden get blown over.

No idea why I'm so fascinated with farm equipment, I'm a wood cutting dirt digger. I don't farm at all. These machines are amazing though.
