  • A mother was traumatised from being lied to as a child and vowed to never do the same to her daughter. This leads to a kind of brutal honesty that House has never seen before. The decision has some unintended consequences but all with a Christmas theme! In this video, I discuss:
    Sudden hand weakness
    Conversion disorder
    Hysteria
    History of hysteria
    BRCA1 mutation
    Oldest profession in the world
    and many many more

I liked that they gave the key clue - the double mastectomy - right at the beginning so nobody would be likely to even consider it. Kudos for catching early the no lying to hide the big lie, too.

It wasn't *just* the necklace she wore. House saw from her medical records that she got STI testing every few months, which meant she was having a lot of sex with people who probably weren't sharing their *own* medical history with her, meaning strangers (or clients).

I figured 11 was the age but thought UAE, not Nigeria. Close? But a miss.

The age of consent in our country, legally is 12 years with less than 18 for the partner as upper boundary and 14 years with no upper boundary. I think most people in the US would freak out hearing this. And i live in Europe.

I always found the moral outrage curious when it comes to people under 18 having sex with someone older. 17-16 and people lose their minds. They day they turn 18, and it's fair game. It makes no sense. I'd love to hear the moral argument for why under 18 is evil. Because I've never heard one. It always comes back to legal (in the US), but even then, if another country's age of consent is less than 18 then somehow it's not morally right. Then they bring up psychology "They're not old enough to understand the consequences" or something. Okay, then why not 25 as the age of consent as that's when our brains are fully developed. What happens at 18 (besides legal adulthood) that crosses the threshold from moral outrage to hot teen?

@curlywhites I'll take a stab at the argument.
Power dynamics between adults and adolescents are messy, and the difference in maturity, life experience, etc, can make those potential relationships even more so. That's the basis for the idea of having restrictions in the first place.
So how do we implement restrictions? Where's the age cut-off? How about around the time we consider someone an adult? We are morally okay with signing men up to the draft at 18, makes sense that they should be allowed to make other adult decisions.
If you want someone to make a hardline moral argument specifically for the age of 18, it's impossible. But we use it as a cut-off because we need to have one, not because 18 is a magic age where someone fully matures into a responsible adult. My educated opinion is that there is no right age to separate adolescent from adult when we're talking about mental maturity. But most of us are morally not okay with a 30+ year old sleeping with a 13 year old, so we have an imperfect, simplistic cut-off age to protect the most vulnerable.

@@davidm6329 Okay. That's a decent argument generally. But I guess you admitted there is no moral argument for 18.
Then can you explain the moral outrage when someone is 17 or 16? It is REAL moral outrage? Or are they pretending so they don't seems okay with it? If it is real, where do you think it comes from?
And what about other countries' age of consent? Their age of consent is lower than their legal adulthood status, what do you make of those countries?

Well, when it is a not a male person behind I guess, least for a Donkey that is. I will say if you have been to actual farms long enough you will see shits in towns and have travelled in rural areas. Some remote villages seems to be considered a rite of passage. Hey, sorry, just bringing back travel scene I have seeing.
