It never ceases to amaze me how unbelievably massive these ships are. I used to to work building houseboats and we got an order from overseas. I'll never forget watching them load that boat on to one of these container ships like it was the lego version of a houseboat.
These are nuts when fully loaded with containers. On the civilian side I just went on the Carnival Celebration which is 1130ft long, 18 passenger decks high, and holds 6500 ppl with staff and crew. It was so massive that fully booked I was never in a crowded area. I think it was 185,000 gross tons. I took videos leaving ports from deck 17 and it looked like I was flying away from the port in a Cessna. Engineering is nuts, and awe inspiring.
These videos always bring tears to my eyes. I'm a marine engineer and my job is to keep the propeller rotating. These are the last moments that the propeller rotates.
If you look closely, the loader isn’t trying to push it or move it. It has a platform attached to the front with 3 dudes in it that look to be inspecting the hull, or they are waiting for the go ahead to start cutting into it.
@julierichens4218 It's significantly cheaper and faster to run a ship aground, and bring heavy equipment to the ship on the sandbar than it is to bring it to a dedicated purpose-built ship breaking port (like the ones in Brownsville, Texas), environmental and safety concerns be damned. You'll never really see this in western countries due to those concerns, while India has this method down to a science. If they were going to clean/scrape the hull, it would end up in a drydock instead. Running aground can cause severe damage to a ship's hull.

The ship-breaking yards of India, Bangladesh, China and Pakistan employ 225,000 workers as well as providing many indirect jobs. In Bangladesh, the recycled steel covers 20% of the country's needs and in India it is almost 10%
The loaders actually play a key part in ship launches. In this situation I don't know as the ship is scrapping, however, in ship they help push the boats out

Выходит старпом.. наорал на вахтенного.. я развел руками мол что я теперь могу сделать..на что старпом ответил - иди помоги толкнуть судно..! Делать нечего.. пришлось подчинится.. и что вы думаете мы в двоем оттолкнули 5 тыс тонн! Кранец высвободился.. на что старпом отряхивая руки произнес:- хули того парохода! Стоявшие неподалеку немцы так и застыли с открытыми ртами..
Да мне похер на ваше не верю! Не верите- сами проверьте! Судно легко можно толкнуть. Неоднокраино обращал внимание, стоя на трапе, что упираясь ногой в причал судно потихоньку начинает отходить от берега..
Ships have been scrapped at record rates the last 5 years. Between tighter emissions regulations and higher fuel prices, there are plenty of perfectly good ships nobody wants to operate.
Over time the hull on a ship weakens and begins to buckle and at a certain point after so many years they know it's almost as costly to repair a ship than to just buy a new one. Scrapping it usually gets them back some money to b reimbursed from buying the new ship

@@keekeejenkins6162 There is going to be fuel that they can't get out so running the last little bit out until the engine stops is probably a good idea to get rid of as much as possible and not have to have as much leaking upon disassembly.
Imagine something that size being turned into housing. It would almost be completely self sufficient. Remove the props, and plug the holes. Then you have a generator that could power the entire place. Have the top deck as a garden, and you could probably COMFORTABLY house about 500 people. Have a desalination setup for the water, and make sure to have sewer of course, and if you wanted to get more ecologically friendly, set up some solar panels so the engine is backup power.

Just trying to get the nose up a little, so the ship can nose in a bit more. Probably high tide too. Get as much out of the water as possible

@@robcormican2360 Even in India, they would NEVER purposely dump diesel/oil and environmentally hazard fuels from these ships in the water/beach or surrounding area. Believe it or not, they have tight regulations now and have really cleaned up their act around decommissioning these ships. If not, the countries/industries/companies would no longer sell these these ships to them.
Right on. That's good news. After watching the video a few more times It almost becomes clear that they're inspecting the bulb of the front of the ship, perhaps from a previous collision. You could see the score marks down the side of the bulb so that's what I think the guys in the loader bucket are doing. But again I'm just assuming I have no idea what the hell they're doing lol

Вы не знакомы с техническим изготовлением и конструкцией корабля из нутри.
Что бы так утверждать необходимо лично ознакомится с судном и как и из чего оно сделанно.

А что касается судна, Уважаемый , Вы забыли про деньги , за которые застрахованны корабли и фактический вес любого корабля, как металл.
Вот этим и пользуются Продажные политики, бизнесмены и Начальники.
А потом можно и потеряться с деньгами ,где то ....
А вот когда Большие деньги лежат в кармане или на счету , тогда уже обсолютно все равно , исправно судно или нет, и срок службы какой у него?!
Кстати , Маэстро, почитайте для начала какие устанавливаются двигатели на такие суда, сколько их там , и сколько срок службы этих двигателей?
