The 2000 Impala I bought in El Paso had jumper wires in place of fuses lol, and it was owned by a mechanic at a Chevy dealer there! It had a couple of wrapped ones too. I have never seen that done before, fuses are cheap! It’s like why go to that effort? Just replace them! I did, and it’s been running perfect for ten years now
C'mon man. That's not how you install an aftermarket radio in those cars. You need a interface module from Walmart or crutchfield. Now if someone ever wants to install an oem radio they have to go to the junkyard and cut a pigtail off and wire it back in. I've been flipping and trading and fixing cars for 13 years...never ever do that. You could have gone to the junkyard and got an oem radio instead of those junk ass dual ones. I've also done car audio for 15 years. Drives me crazy when someone thinks cutting the factory harness is the correct way to go. Oem radios are always better in GM vehicles. You can even get a Bluetooth cassette adapter. I have one in my 22 year old Lexus. Works and sounds great on the factory system.
The previous owner had already cut the wiring harness attempting to install an aftermarket radio and to be honest the OEM radios in these weren't very good as it is. Installing any radio is better than having none in my opinion (cuz it had none when I got it). Not only that if I got an OEM radio from the junkyard its going to be theftlocked anyway because it's not the original so I'd have to through the bs of calling the stealership for a radio code etc. If you watch part 2 you'd see I got it to work without any kind of interface module by looking up the wiring diagram. It's a free Malibu at the end of the day
