damn! so simple! I shoot compounds so I have carbon arrows.. the area where i glue the vanes. can I still crest there? i've seen others crest in that area but will the glue still stick?
Don't know if you'll get this but. I used krypton fusion (works the best) and spun my arrow while spray painting light coats to get my base. Looks just like they were dipped. I did this about 9 inches up my bare arrow shaft. Super durable. Then you can do the cresting as seen here. Then I used a bohning triple tower jig to attach me blazer vanes. Worked out really well. Good luck
Tsohg Repins45 I sold my Lego too when i was a child. I sold it to the Kindergarten my mother was working at. One day they decited that Lego was to small for three year old kids. So they gave it back to me plus tons of other Lego stuff :):):)
Hans Archery. Well that. Is pretty cool my friend. I noticed some slipage from the wheels on the shaft when you started it up. Take a flat wide rubber band and cut it to size and mount around both tires. Then you should get better grip on both wooden and carbon shafts. I challenge you to make a 6 arrow fletching jig to match. Would love to see that!! Cool video
Hey, thank you for the advice! I will try it. I actually don't know if i can find the time to build a fletsching jig :/ But what i did the other day was to build a spinetester from LEGO. That was pretty cool :)
Hi my friend - just a tip for you - try thinning your paint slightly and put your brush a bit more upright so that you only use the tip very lightly on the arrow shaft - just the tip will also give you thinner border pin stripes - nice job though - have you had a look at feather splicing yet - Derek Herring Fishing has some good vids on here for it - keep up the good work
Thank you so much! Those tipps are worth gold. It is pretty hard to get informations about cresting arrows. It is so much try and error.... I am a big fan of Derek Herring Fishing already. Just watched all of his videos about making arrows. Splicing feathers is what i will try next. I used to ask questions about painting my arrows in some german online forums. But your few words give me more then all the answers in the forums. If you have any other advice please let me know!
Hi Hans - thanks for your comment - I also made an arrow cresting machine and I used on of those Dremel style electric multi tools from a hardware store - the thing that made all the difference was straightening the shafts before you paint them and I also made a moveable block with a V shape cut into it and a small felt pad to cushion and protect the arrow shaft - I moved the block to support the shaft right next to where I was going to apply the cresting - the block supports the shaft and even if its not 100% straight, the block held the shaft completely straight and stable which makes your lines perfectly straight and true as well - you can just move the block along as you go and you get a great final result - I've got some arrows on my page on here but more the finished result rather than the building process - have fun - regards - Dale
Yey. Straightening the arrows is very important i guess. I just found someone who made me an arrowstraightener, just like the rollRstraight. I'll get it in a few days. There are no dealers for all those cool tools from the US here in germany. Since shipping is quiet expensive people make some cool tools by themselves here :) Hopefully it will work. Your arrows look very nice by the way! Keep it going! Hans
Absolut G E N I A L :-D Super simpel und/aber effektiv.
wow! I was searching for a diy cresting machine, I stopped my search here..perfect, thank you!
Way too cool, makes something beautiful seem so simple
Zaggah Ziggler Yea man :)
Genius. Simple and functional. Will also do Aluminium and Carbon arrows.
When perfected, just add glue to make permanent.
Thanks Hans.

Endlich mal wieder neue V1deos.

Herr Gnorts Auf geht's!
