Please raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally victimized by winter 😂…Jokes aside, we want to be SUPER clear on something. We absolutely LOVE The Lake & The Land, they’ll both always feel like home but there is just no way around it…winter is rotten and has no redeeming qualities. Sure, it felt empowering to not only figure out the problem but to literally break apart ice and go down and fix the waterline ourselves but c’mon, what the actual heck is our life?! Winter adds an obstacle to everyday life that you sort of just learn to live with…my parents actually pointed out while we were having dinner that this must all seem absolutely foreign to so many of you living in southern climates. The reality is, just because this is our “normal”, do we really HAVE to life with it? If you’ve been here for a while, you know we’re always dreaming & scheming…family is everything to us and as our parents are getting older, what if we could find a place that they could also escape to and enjoy during this time of year?? All that said, we won’t be back next Sunday, we’re taking a bit of time to immerse ourselves in a new place and seeing if it feels like home. Also…can you even IMAGINE what the plumbing bill would’ve been to diagnose and fix this?! Another project for the win! Love you all, can’t wait to share more soon xoxo

So you will be going for a third home for the deep winter months in a warmer climate. Well it's going to be interesting in what you do next as we are here for you both not where you are living. Will miss you next Sunday take care both of you xx

I lived in the woods for about 9 years, 30 miles from the closest freeway. Living on the river looked beautiful but it was one thing after another in that house. ESPECIALLY if anything happened to the wells, water lines, plumbing! Spring & Winter were the hardest (floods or frozen then floods) I'm not one bit sorry to live back in the city! It's a quiet little neighborhood & there's delivery! I have no intentions on moving again, but ya never know. Things happen. You do what you have to do!

I grew up in Michigan. To prevent our water lines from freezing we made sure all our taps were turned on enough for a tiny stream of water to run all night. This worked for us 98% of the time.

I don't think there WAS any water to leave on, was there?
The pipe split and no water was coming through.
I'll admit to knowing nothing about plumbing and hearing about leaving your water dripping in extreme cold.

In the fall I have two bales of straw put outside my house to line up where the kitchen sink is, open the cabinet doors, and let a steady stream of water run. If it still freezes, first, I use some tactical choice words, then I remove all the stuff under my sink and put in a small space heater, just long enough to thaw it out. Then I watch some tropical movie and cry.😂

At first watch of this video I was completely baffled as to why you didn't have water in this new house...!?! It does HAVE a central heating....Some kind of furnace, right ?
But then when you said that your water comes from the lake......Well... During the winter months THAT could easily get frozen up with the kind of temps y'all get up there !
But didn't you guys have a well drilled where your dome house is, with insulation around all the piping ??? Isn't there running water there ?
I personally DETEST being cold! And I think most people do... And that's exactly why California and Florida are WALL to WALL people !
Moving to some place like the Caribbean or Hawaii--(I've never been to either place) sounds and looks like Paradise, but there must be SOME REASON why all the rich Americans haven't already gone there and bought up all the land ???
So if you read this, I hope you'll analyze that while You're there and tell us (or at least ME) when you post your next video, WHY YOU THINK THAT IS ? (that those paradisical islands have not been over run already by the wealthy people across the globe ?)
      ENJOY yer selves !

I feel for you, Guys, working outside in winter in Canada is no joke. I think it was genius to fly the drone out to see what was happening. I always think of the drone being for filming the flyovers and such for the videos - those shots always add so much. But I never would have thought of using it as a tool the way you did. I am definitely impressed. And cheers for Tim for coming over to help. You can't beat experience in those kind of situations. Oh yes, I am so impressed that he had not one, but two sets of hip waders. That is why people who are older than you young guys have all those odd things in the back of our storage rooms - you never know when you will be needing something. Have a good break in the sunny clime, but remember one thing - the reason we don't have spiders the size of your hand is because of the winter freeze. I was in southern California one winter and, I swear, there was a beetle coming along the street the size of a boot print left in the snow for a men's size 12 boot. Give me cold, frozen winters and small bugs, thank you.

It is really a lot of work living where you get snow and extreme cold. Bless you! I could no more do that than fly! But you stuck with it, used your big brains and found solutions! Happy to see you are taking a break and going to some warmth.. and we will need a full report!
Thanks for continuing your wonderful channel. I do miss the weekly updates, but I have time on my hands since it is sunny and 60° outside. (Sorry,…that was snark!)
Stay safe and hope to see more when you return!

My husband and son had to fix a pipe this morning that sprung a big leak in the ceiling of our laundry room. We had the opposite problem, we had water everywhere!! I just showed him your video and asked; ‘would you rather have to go out onto/into the lake to find the problem?’ 😮

Gosh, sometimes I think that if you don’t have bad luck, you don’t have any at all….
However, you were able to fix this with Todd’s dad all by yourselves! Quite an accomplishment! Despite all the setbacks you sustain, you are able to keep a smile on your faces. That alone is no small feat, so yourselves apart on the back! Your positivity is what keeps bringing us back week after week. You are wonderful rays of sunshine, in a world that contains so much negativity. Thank you for the truly wonderful men you are! You are a joy to watch! ❤

It got cold here in indianapolis indiana.USA 🇺🇸. So I didn't have water for almost two days. I have a well pump. On the third day everything start falling out. So I go down there to turn it back on. Then I find that I have a busted pipe. So no water. Until I get it fixed. I know how you all feel. Love you all. A true fan from indianapolis, Indiana .USA. ..❤🇺🇲

I am blown away by your positivity and your resiliency! I'm sure the last few years on the land have helped to hone those traits. How brilliant to fly the drone out over the lake and find the problem.....and then to work so well as a team and a family to solve the problem. As always, you amaze and impress me. You really deserve this getaway in a warmer climate. Enjoy!!!

One reason I moved from the UK to southern Spain was because of the dreary cold wet never ending British grey winters. Southern Andalucia is so different. In the past 10 years I have only experienced a 0c temperature on 1 night. Most days the wood burning stove doesn’t need to go on until mid afternoon in the winter. Today it is about 15c 60f. You two are very brave doing what you have been doing btw…good luck ❤
