If you're talking about the older full sized VHS recorders, I understand where you're coming from. I still feel a bit differently about it. Something about the full eye covering just feels weird vs. having a camera in front of your face. The same way a camera feels different than taking pics with a phone, just more so for the Vision.
Ah, so that’s what it is. Thanks Keli. I agree with your thoughts. From a business perspective, looks like this could be Apple’s next iPhone, the technology that takes them into the next 20 years. I’m so pleased to hear your mentioning mental health. It’s so important and that’s where the pushback is going to come from.
Thanks for that Cams! Yeah, mental well being is an increasing large concern of mine as my children grow older. (Though of course the issues are certainly not limited to children)
Good thoughts! I’ll probably wait a decade before even considering to get one, if I don’t really have to. The fact that apple is now in the ad business and they can literally track your eyeballs leads to incentives that are ripe for abuse. Also the keynote was a mess of noise, clutter and lack of the one thing that made apple, apple: simplicity. The keynote showed the intense power struggles that are going on within apple, or at least that is what I saw from watching it. Powerful showcase of technology inspired by iron man tech, but feels rushed and without clear thought on the problems it actually solves in the real world. Also great point that this will be as addictive or even more so than the iPhone. This is the attention economy’s gold mine, and not many will be in the service of the users best interests and growth.
Hey ABR! It absolutely is, every year we're advancing technologically - but that makes the potential downsides all the greater. I felt that Apple is a little bit more clear on what they expect the Vision to be than they were with the initial Apple Watch rollout. Once they saw how it was actively being used they switched tactics and started to lean really heavily into fitness and health. The Vision seems a bit more targeted but very similar. We've built this, we think it's the future, but not _exactly_ sure what that's going to be.
About the birthday scene. I really don't think it's much different than my dad carrying a giant camera that covered his entire face when I was a kid.

Agree with a lot of your thoughts here. Also leaning toward getting one even as a non Mac user
Interesting! Are you an iPhone user?
@@KeliFancher yes long time iPhone user. And a couple iPads in the house as well.
