Took me a little longer to put this together than I expected, but as always, I hope it was worth the wait - I need to sleep now been up for 24 hours lol - love you guys Also thank you for 15 Million! ♥ Btw I JUST finished testing out how good Apple's customer service actually IS - this will surprise you: ua-cam.com/video/Z7iBFklVU_I/v-deo.html
I was literally dying when they showed a father recording their kid's birthday in the presentation. Imagine being a kid blowing out candles and your father is wearing digital ski goggles ffs apple 💀😭
Yeah but its equally awkward although much common for people having huge devices in front of face recording the birthday! We are already a society of idiots, no harm in going all the way😂
If you thought that phone addiction was bad, imagine how addictive this will be. Edit: After they change the form factor to be more lightweight and portable.
The way you managed to break down the steps Apple has used to prepare for this type of technology through years of models and devices in their past is amazing.
I like how UA-camrs see things differently. MKBHD didn't like the recording option because it's not how other people want to see you, and Arun loves it because it's easy and also 3D. Love both of them
I know I might be a bad person for saying this, but the 3d recording could be used like all new products for VERY intimate times with your lady or boyfriend, p*rn has pushed all industries, VHS, and internet. imagine you can relive a intimate time with a lady in 3d, or download someone else's....
To address the screen close to your face issue: the problem isn’t the screen being close, it’s in straining your eyes. When you look at a phone your eyes narrow in to look at something up close and that can be damaging over time. With a VR headset, even though the screen is close, your eyes are more spread out because you are looking at something that appears to be far away.
Steve Jobs would be working on holograms over this non sense, a lot of us cant use VR cause we get dizzy and stuff, plus what u say, Steve left a good number of great designers for sure and they've been followed his legacy really good, but we all know the brain there was Steve Jobs, its been literally 12 years since Steve left, at this point we would have MacBooks with fully touchscreen keyboards that resemble a foldable phone, we would have iPhones as thin as a card or a just a transparent screen, we would have holograms, and paper screens all over the world, not a VR headset that obviously will be detrimental to our actual vision, even the Retina display, it improved my visual damage I had with prior retina display computers, still its not perfect and i cant be on the screen all day, imagine having screens in your eyes, theres a reason why developers stopped working on the other VR headsets
There are multiple ways that the human eyes perceive depth. Mainly 2, stereoscopic focus, and idk what to call this but just normal focus, which the eyes adjust by changing the focal length of our eyes. Focusing on things too close to our eyes is not good for our eyes, but VR headsets take care of this as they have a lens in the eyepieces that "move" the screen backwards, so your eyes actually focus farther away. Since VR headsets still don't have varifocal lenses this means that the screen has to be a fixed distance away from your eyes, somewhere between 25 cm and an infinite distance away. Some people feel dizzy or get headaches from VR due to this mismatch of depth info from the stereo focus, and lens focus.
Can we just talk about how the hell this guy and his team literally managed to make an absolute top quality video like this less than 24 hours after the teaser of the product?
The best thing about the external battery is the fact that if it’s broken or worn down you can just simple replace that instead of the entire headset..
I'm sure its Apple proprietary and costs a fortune for a spare battery. Apple charged $699 for roller wheels for the mac pro. If they charge that much for what are essentially $30 suitcase wheels, i imagine the replacement battery will be impressively overpriced.
@@ExplosionChimp Yup! And you still probably gonna have to pay them "geniuses" at the "Apple bar" an extra 100-150 USD just to de-activate the hardware lock on the battery.. I.e. confirm that it's a genuine spare part replacement.. ; ) And knowing Apple; maybe that's not even gonna be possible.. Perhaps your only possibility for a replacement battery, is to cut the cord, scale back the rubber and hot wire the new one to the stump, hanging off those damn cyclops, lol!
8:19 thats because of depth, the reason looking too close at a screen is bad is because your eyes are focused in 1 spot for long periods of time, however, vr headsets work because they feed 2 different images to each eye which simulates depth, this means your eyes can focus in and out and removes eye strain
This is one of a few videos that I have watched about this product. I find the technology to be incredibly impressive. I still think that it will be a niche product that won't replace your smart phone. Oddly enough, it may be your laptop that goes by the wayside.
This is the ONLY video I watched about it. No need to look further. The quality of this video is amazing. Picks all the right cherries, tastes them and then gives an honest opinion on how they taste.
Especially for those who will watch porn on it. Lets be real here, we all know all the men children are thinking of how to make them into X-ray vision goggles.
Strapping on something is more tedious than opening a laptop. Laptops are convenient, thin and can warm your lap. The goggles parading around as 🤓 glasses also aren't glasses
I'm glad that you mention how VR could be isolating and make people lose the human connection and stuff. It's good to know that other people are worried about that too.
@Lynn McKenney imagine that even when your mother comes to your house you dont see her but you have two layers of glass and millions of apps between you and her isnt it a bit dystopian?
I am glad that the tech bros are not all super dumb and do not support every technological advancement unconditionally; great that arun can see the downsides also
@Lynn McKenney "I feel less isolated when playing vr with friends than when sitting on my couch binge watching tv shows." Yeah, obviously VR feels closer than binge-watching TV. But that is not what people are comparing. It is the playing VR together vs playing a board game, Volleyball, running together, going out to eat together, ... what people are comparing. And in that Case VR is more isolating.
As much as I'm enjoying the information and graphics, I can't help but appreciate the quality of the videography. The smooth flow of panning in and panning out, almost a 3D experience. Whoever is behind that camera, they are gold.
I will say that he just has a tripod set up, and the editing in the panning in, he does have good videography and skin color grade, but he is definitely just multicam on premiere + stock footage and images from internet, none the less quality content
I wish this could somehow be integrated into the gaming market, it has such high potential. Edit: yes ik quest 2, psvr and valve are good but with the graphics apple is proposing, not being able to see the pixels, that would be a game changer
Is amazing how VR set has been around for many years and really never got mainstream outside the gaming community. My first VR experience was in 1994 with a VR set that actually cost 3000 USD at that time and it was a flop because you just could use it to play games like Doom. The Apple VR Set looks quite well designed but seems to me to be a product that is still in development.
@@DontRemoveDontRemove Nah, it’s a vr/ar product. You can dim the outside camera from 100% to 0%, depending on how immersed you want to be in a virtual experience.
So many reviews have talked about how amazing this things is. A lot of people had that reaction when VR first came out. A lot of reviewers have also said they're not sure they'll use it enough for $3,500. The truth is you probably won't. There's nothing you can't already do that's available in that headset. Games? TV/movies? Video chat? Recording moments? Take photos? Browse/work on internet browsers? You can all these things without having a contraption on your head. I keep buying VR headsets and keep watching them sit around like paperweights after a month. The difference is they're $500 or less most of the time. The Apple Vision Pro has the potential to become a monumentally expensive paperweight.
I'm glad to see people in the tech community excited by the innovation but also not oblivious to elements that require pause. It's a nice balance to what must necessarily be: optimistic marketing.
When Arun said in this video “I’ve never both wanted and not wanted a product to exist as much as this one. This is the start of the end for shared social experiences”, I think he absolutely nailed where our future is going from this point forward. Watching the WWDC presentation which I’ve waited months for, it was the first time I had a little bit of pre-emptive nostalgia for the world we’re now going to leave behind. I don’t know how I feel about public places transforming into pseudo-private ones to this degree. Our species cannot evolve nearly as fast as our technology now is and that honestly does worry me a little bit; especially since that we’re also at the dawn of a true A.I. revolution that’s happening concurrently.
Could become a reality for some, but I truly believe that if apple and other companies can get features like SharePlay to the next level, everything will be fine. We have (at the start of it) doubted every revolutionary piece of tech starting from the invention of fire and guess what, we’ve been fine every time so while there are some worries as long as everything gets fixed, we’ll be just fine, if not doing better.
I'm curious. What do you think came first? The antisocial hermits then the technology? Or did the technology create all of the antisocial narcissist we see now?
@@Gboi8I believe technology did create antisocials. If I give you all the reasons then all I’m gonna say is look at the years before iPhones, iPad’s computers and what not was made. And try to research how human interactions were during that time and compare it to know.
When I watched the promo video I got the chills, I have mixed feelings about this. From one side this new technology is exciting and it shows that Apple can still be innovative and looking forward to the competition, my other side is scared AF, this is the BLACK MIRROR, we basically become one thing with the tech, also wearing it isolates you even more from the external world, even if they put a glass in front of it and you can see your surroundings. You put it on and it's you and the tech, it's not a collective experience, it's the single person interacting with the virtual world. I'm sure that it can be used in many wonderful ways, but we are not ready yet, it's going to be another tool that will shift humanity to be self adsorb, just like mobile phones did, using more and more the tools and being sucked into it.
For me, i feel like something like this is mostly best worn maybe when you just wanna play video games or watch movies because it’s not proper to wear something like this to your job or in a meeting lol people won’t take you seriously.
I don't understand. How is this any different from other VR headsets? You're still not going to be able to wear this for more than an hour without your head sweating. If you want something to be scared of, we already have smartwatches that record raw brain data and feed it to whatever apps you give permission to.
@@MaxkillerV2Gaming it's a lot more complicated than that. that's like saying watching a movie with your face touching the TV is the same as watching a 3D movie. regardless, this particular device is pointless because you can get the same thing for a 10th of the price with oculus.
@@MaxkillerV2Gamingsame as smartphones are useless Just carry around your Nokia 1600 or even better, use wired phone. Who needs to walk around with a phone am I right?
@@keane6 You're right this device is pointless, but you missed my point. It literally does everything that a phone can do... But on your face, 3D is a different experience cause it's supposed to look like it's in front of you. This is just a screen on your face that pretty much does anything a phone can do. The worst part you can still see around you, people can see the eyes which much make people look goofy, it has a lower battery life than a actual phone and Apple want $3500 for this?
@@MaxkillerV2Gaming have you ever actually used a vr/ar device? it's not just a screen on your face. that would be an awful experience. it's designed in a way that gives depth perception, in a way that a 2d screen can't replicate
This is legit the best video I’ve seen on Vision Pro! I too feel that apple focusing on LiDAR, spatial audio, cross platform apps, continuity and dictation was all leading upto this! Cant wait to see what’s next 😍
The external battery is what fpv pilots use. They can both focus on their flight without their face being pulled down, and they can use multiple batteries to not worry about being limited to one battery life
@@WSH3TM Yeah except for it requires base stations so you cant take it anywhere. It requires controllers not just tracks your hands. Doesn’t connect to your social media, texts, FaceTime or calls. The speakers aren’t as good and it doesn’t connect to bluetooth headphones because why would it, you cant take it anywhere. The external cameras aren’t as good and it doesn’t have binaural processing for your outside environment. It doesn’t track your eyes for selecting apps or programs. And it doesn’t have as good resolution. But yeah, other than that, it smokes it. Get off the crack dude.
Tech has come a very long way, 5 years ago I didn't even think most of the features in this headset were possible. I can only imagine what stuff like this is going to evolve into in the near future Also if I'm going to buy this, I am definitely going to have to wait until it goes on sale
The individual components (VR, AR, gestures, etc.) have mostly been around for more than 10 years. The breakthrough was Apple's silicon to bring them all together in a wearable but performant package.
I like this video because it's not just a generic video on the device, it's a video on the possibility of what it can do in the future, including the positives and negatives. Good job Arun 👏🏽
in order to justify the $3500 sticker price, it better can do everything that macbook or imac can do. if it stuck to only the thing that Ipad can do, then $3500 can't be justified. after all, it was priced as a professional publishing machine like Macbook or iMac.
My main concern is the closed ecosystem, other VR and AR setups that can link with stuff outside their own ecosystems(such as the valve, vive, pico, and oculus headsets) have much greater potential in my opinion because the user can do what they choose with the headset. Apple is notorious for keeping everything to themselves, and for once I don’t think it will work out for them. Edit; after reading the reply’s of this comment I believe I need to re-clarify my point. I don’t think the headset will fail, and it is certainly a step in the right direction, I just think the closed ecosystem will hold it back from its full potential.
You already said it, there's valve, vive and oculus.. Apple likes to do their own thing and keep it within their ecosystem. With many apple users, I'm sure this will be a success.
If you count that even Steam has only 120 million registered users, but Apple alone on just iPhone has 1.5 billions active users that is 12x more like the whole Valve community.. so even if there are more supported brands on the others the combined reacheable persons still way less there compared to Apple. And developers making money based on the reacheable amount of users.. more user more chance to get their money (not to mention that Apple users have the highest pay potential, like half amount of users compared to Google, but still doubled amount of yearly profit, which is the 15%-30% cut off from the price, so actually part of the money what the developers earned there.. and the doubled amount of profit for Apple means that developers are also earned doubled amount of money there..)
I completely agree. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple forced people to use Facetime, or an Apple keyboard/mouse/phone to fully use the headset. I really hope that they don't force people to do it but it seems likely
its crazy seeing how apple has been secretly developing this right in front of our faces. by introducing lidar into iPhone and iPad, nobody really needed lidar and was kinda weird that they added the sensor to an iPhone and iPad, and then spacial audio for airpods, and apple silicon, all of these things then coming together to make apple vision pro is crazy to see.
its a bilion dollar industry, they have thought out everything from what we have now till the future. they discus this daily in the office and at home. its crazy what their hidden projects could be, pretty scary tbh
@@its_sanddi8194 LespMotion bought it to market over a decade ago. Companies like Varjo have had it in VR headsets for years. Typical apple fanboyism, believe everything they are told and then think they have some kind of miracle product, when in fact it's just cobbling together other people's technology. To be clear, this headset does nothing that existing VR headsets are already doing, except this one forces you to be tethered to a box on your waist like a colostomy bag. The only exception to that is a pointless battery wasting LCD screen on the front of the device to fake eyes of the wearer. It's a nonsense product, with a nonsense price which not even the most hard core VR fan is going to buy. Apple positioning this as "the future of phones and computing" shows just how out of touch they are in a VR market that has already flopped. This happens once every 10 years or so. A product comes along which is the latest the history of failed products in the catagory like 3D TV's and movies with glasses. Always they fail to address the baseline flaws. In Fruit Co's case they still havn't fixed VR's primary flaws, namely no one can strap one of these to their faces for longer than 30 minutes before they become painful and cause tension headaches. VR also can't give an immersive experience so long as the visual definition is lower than that of simply looking at something with your eyes, and the biggest drawback of them all is that VR doesn't use plenoptic depth of field which is vital for humans to gauge distance and focus. So far Lightfield is the only VR company to create true VR with plenoptic focus. Everything else just layers depth like stacking playing cards, it doesn''t work and causes headaches and sickness.
I'd really like to see them focus most on AR Advancements. High quality AR in my opinion has the most potential out of anything other than a quality headset display to use for ur PC/phone/game console. AR has so much that can be improved upon and i really hope we see this category of software capabilities improve a ton.
The lack of shared experiences is a very valid point. This is especially important in my own area of interest: Education. I’m still trying to come to terms with how this could (and whether is should) be integrated into classroom experiences. Especially in terms of personalization and group experiences. It’s not a completely easy decision, but I am pretty certain it will have some place in learning.
Education? Most education systems get the cheapest of the cheap even with laptops, it feels like we are ten product generations away from this being an option.
@@Alias_Anybody it will depend on the school - we are using HoloLens 2 devices and VR Headsets for some courses already. The challenge with the Apple headsets is that I don’t know if I can share one unit across multiple students. Even years ago - we would have expensive equipment - but it had to be shared.
@@LearningandTechnology Are you talking about college or university level? Primary and middle schools most likely not only won't be able to afford it unless they are extremely bougie, the students will also physically destroy them in no time.
I just love this guy, all the other tech UA-camrs just tell about the ridiculously confusing specs of a product that only a certain amount of people would understand but my guy Arun just explains it in a way a person like me who knows nothing about specs could understand. The core reason I love this guy!!!😃
My first thought of a great use case for this is, the future of manned space flights to the moon and Mars. I feel like this is going to be essential for long trips confined to small quarters, the immersion of being back home or living earth experiences could virtually eliminate mental health issues in this type of confinement. This is just one use, I can see this being the start of the future. It's nice to be excited about a tech product again.
Another possibility would be to send sophisticated robots to Mars and equip them with high resolution cameras so we could move around the surface of the red planet right from Earth via wearable tech like the Apple Vision Pro, perhaps even build a base there so that when the first humans arrive our accommodations are ready. We'd have to tweak the time lag of send and receive, but that's probably right around the corner too, judging how we eventually overcome limitations how ever impossible or improbable they seem at present.
@@robm3569 Unless we are about to learn how to send and receive data faster than light, this wouldn't really work as a method of controlling a robot on Mars.
Just one clarification: having your eyes to close to the screen makes forces your eyes to adapt the lens (for closer focal point) which puts a lot of strain on the eyes. However, in the vision pro (and all other VR headsets) there are optical lenses integrated which change the focal point and take the job away from the lenses in your eyes. Therefore, if the lenses in the headsets are calibrated right, the close screen should not be an issue. I say _should_ not because the headsets I tried still strain the eyes. But as I know apple, they will have spent more time and effort to make this more comfortable than other companies. This is a typical thing you can’t put in numbers, therefore can’t use for marketing, therefore neglected by most companies.
A few of the early hands-on first looks said they got nauseated using it, but the Apple handlers were swearing up and down that it won't be a problem for release, so it sounds like they've got a solution for it, but it's not quite "there" yet, tho should be fixed by launch.
Exactly. It’s not the screen that’s necessarily the issue, but focusing on something closely for too long. With VR headsets, they’re designed so you focus as you normally would, as if the object was really there in the world.
Oh I'm sure they would've promoted the shit out of it if they actually put that much effort into not straining your eyes. Nothing wrong in that though, this the one of the biggest problem with VR
As a gamer I cannot think of the possibilities Imagine FPS games on this. Ganes would be so life-like and amazing. It's not a pathetic excuse like the metaverse. And has some actual computer power and competence. But I couldn't ever comprehend to buy it lol maybe in the future.
Love this take. Clearly explains the possibilites and how risky it was for Apple to take this step. As they saw though, high risk, high reward. Let's see how this pays off.
@@theprocat719 Ohhh, imagine if they cannot watch movies or do anything together due to the fact that they have different branded headsets. That's more than likely to happen and very typical
Very well thought out and described. I see both the benefits, concerns, and preparations made for this product. I suppose we'll see what happens in the future! I hope our shared humanity experiences does not diminish because of this.
I think it still has a long way to go before I will buy one. It is no doubt the best iteration of AR / VR I have seen however my previous VR use makes me think of isolation, tired eyes and heavy goggles.
I can only imagine the toxic EMFs being emitted by the vision pro in the long term, with close proximity to the brain. Just 15 minutes are enough to alter brain waves to abnormal For those that are ignorant on the new warnings on all cellphones not to place phone next to ear, look it up. Even the WHO has classified RF EMFs as a Class 2b carcinogen. We pretend to believe that natural EMF from the sun is the same as random, chaotic RF frequencies on the biofield, they are not.
Agreed. People aren't talking about how straining it is to put a screen right in front of your face. If you want to be immersed in a lakeside experience just go to a lake haha
While I personally haven't found any issues with eye strain and isolation, I have found a major issue with heavy/uncomfortable goggle. Everything about the Vision Pro can be completely ruined if your head starts feeling strained after an hour or two.
I truly enjoyed watching this video. The way you break down information into it's core components and then explain each one is how things should be explained to grasp a better understanding. Absolutely phenomenal man! You earned a follower today
This is a great take on this product. This format of limited movement and sitting and talking about the product without zooming in/out with tons of text on screen popping in and out was such a superior format. I feel like I can focus on what he is saying rather than constantly looking at graphics.
The whole "wanting it to exist but not wanting it to exist" wall hit me yesterday like a brick during the WWDC presentation. It feels like, YES, this is massive and this can be such a breakthrough for VR. However, there's the thing that "making memories" f.e. is kinda nice but... making memories of everyone wearing such a thing in the future? lolnope. Also the FaceTime thing CREEPED ME OUT AF.
@Vinny Veritas well, I'm 38, Played lots of games in the past and it's still eerie to me. And no I am not afraid of horror movies or the like. They're cheesecake. This however is giving me goosebumps and I can't really explain to you why. But I am not the only one.
I don’t think anyone is going to wear this in a social environment. But for office work in some closed space with huge screens or also travel and couch entertainment this is going to be huge. It maximizes the experience, while minimizing distractions and overcoming technological limitations of 2D and small screen size. Allowing for interruptions by others and showing responsiveness via digital eyes only makes this a valid option for work in shared space, but surely no one intends to wear it for longer conversations or in daily life. Also the 3D Camera thing of capturing an experience and playing it back as well as never before, is a gimmick for now that won’t be used much. But be prepared for iPhones to receive 3D cameras as well, because they will likely remain the no1 recording device, while the vision will set the standard for the viewing experience, especially when the more affordable version gets released then.
"making memories" when holding a phone in front of your face to record them: yess!!!! "making memories" when having goggles on your face that lets other people see you and you see them: noooo muh black mirror!!! still, it's gonna be a while until these are actual glasses that dont make you look like a dork lmao
@@SnrubSource yes, it is different. A phone is mostly in the hands of people, without interfering face to face interaction too much. These goggles are different there. You nailed the positives, negatives, positioning, potential and future outlook better than anyone else so far. Terrific job, as always. Your perspective rocks.

When you mention that it’s an optimistic gamble, I think it’s important to remember that the dip in VR interest happened while this was well into development. At this point they’ve already sunk the cost and they’re taking a very bold step with the price point to double down and try to iteratively solve the problems that nobody else tried to while doing the most Apple thing ever - carving out a market pretending that competition doesn’t exist
What problems are they solving? The screen can’t be that good if you can see through it, with power like this games could be played but knowing apple, they would screw that up, This is useless

While apple was not the first to make an AR headset like this, I think that this was mostly a wakeup call, telling the world "This is what we can do." AR and VR markets have been dropping because of a lack of innovation, and this is definitely it. I'm interested in seeing if apple is going to be very "closed" with this, as well as their iphones. Will you be able to sideload apps, or will you only be able to install apple approved apps. Regardless, its a cool headset and im interested in seeing where it will go. Great video on the product!
Yeahi definitely agree. I think their announcement is far more important than the tech they have right now, because it means that the industry WILL grow
I really hope they do continue to support and sell iPhones, just because of how useful they are. Personally, I feel like it would be a lot harder to film from a certain angle, or play games on this headset.
Apple would be shooting themselves in the foot if they actually stopped selling iPhones. Majority of people don't want to be wearing a headset like this on the daily, not to mention storing it while in public and dealing with your glasses would be another nightmare. Sure it's a really cool piece of technology, but I couldn't see anyone using it to replace an iPhone. Perhaps to replace a laptop though.
@@phi1688 well it was said in the video that you can connect it with your apple keyboard and mouse or trackpad and the m2 chip is literally the chip that is in all macs right now so you have the power of a laptop too
My biggest concern with THAT much tech combined with proprietary software is privacy. How much and what will they collect and store about the environments you're using it in and the people present, including yourself? It's already known that the iPhone collects all sorts, even when you opt-out.

9:03 ....you practically read my mind and explained literally the mixed emotion i was feeling throughout the video. The excitement and the uneasiness of such advancement in tech.
If I could like this video a 100 hundred times. I would have. It's the perfect take on such a product. You talked about all the repercussions about this product and how it has a higher ceiling. Also the iphone plateauing. Just perfect!
I'm mostly more concerned by Apple having the ability to constantly monitor everything around me with sensors so granular that if they wanted to they could insert someone else into living the exact same experiences as I'm having.
I find the isolating aspect really interesting. I live alone and most of my communication with friends happens over written or voice chat. Joined activities are often online gaming, watching a sport game „together“ or shopping „together“ - non of which involve us sitting in one room. I’m not too sure the goggles would make much of a difference there. Meeting up in person more often than once or twice a month, is simply not realistic with the busyness of life. My BFF lives in a different country, so we usually see each other in person 2-4 times a year for some travelling. I still have tons of neighbours and colleagues I chat with, but I don’t see that changing with the goggles either - maybe it’s different for multi-people households?
Might not be for everyone but I find meeting through VR/3D social platforms such as VRChat more engaging than plain text, telephone or video calls but that still doesn’t beat in-person meetings and I doubt anything will replace that but I can see people would replace longer voice and video calls with VR meetups in the future. I don’t think it will change multi-person households that much, depending on the households either everyone is already doing their own thing on their phones or computers, and in the future they would move to XR headsets while the households that spend their time doing activities together will continue to do so.
Exactly! I mean we've almost achieved Jarvis level AR, plus AI voice, Large Language Models, image creation in so short duration. Man I wish Steve could be here and see how much of an effect he had on civilization💔
You can really tell by the comments, on all the other videos ive seen commenters are shouting in all caps “who this is for?”, “why is apple charging them so much?” “Kinect already did the same thing!” etc etc… and everyone here just gets it and has a conversation, because the video actually explains it well.
I don't want to plug in forever, either. If this becomes mainstream it better be just a cool extension to life and not a requirement for everything moving forward.
I like how all the little Android users are like, “Uh-oh, Amazon made a one that is cheaper and smarter!!”Dude, you haven't used the Apple one. What do you mean it's smarter? What the hell are you on about, LittleBoy, mfs hate on apple but thats why Samsung innovates so much but still doesn’t sell like apple.
With the human interaction aspect, the best usecases i see for this thing is productivity and multitasking, and when im working I'll be doing it alone anyways so its not an issue if others aren't included. Wouldn't want to have it on my head 24/7, but when at my desk i can see this thing being super useful
Maybe the next generation. Early reports say this is quite heavy and uncomfortable after an hour or so. That's part of why they moved the battery pack seperate, because it was too heavy with it as part of the headset.
the guided tour on how to maneuver the vision pro was pretty good, the way your eyes are the cursor and your hand the click button, and how gigantic you can make your windows.
9:30 My thoughts exactly. I like the concept of this device for times when I’m alone but I like having my home theatre for family time. No way I’d be replacing it with this thing. Even though there are a few of features that supposedly help include the outside world, I’m a little concerned that a device like this would further isolate people regardless. It is a neat little gadget though and, although I am very much a Mac geek, at this price point, not something I’d see myself diving into anytime soon.
What about home theatre time with everyone in the same AR? What about being able to sit in your home theatre with people who aren't physically in the same room?
@@ericolson9695 This was my thought...once the price comes down where you can have a family AR experience sharing the same movie. I see opportunities for businesses to build and sell custom immersive environments to experience movies in. I mean, just as an example, think if Disney released a new movie and offered a package where you could watch their movie in an immersive environment specifically tailored to that movie. It's interesting that this product could create shared experiences across the globe while simultaneously isolating people who are just in the other room. There are a ton of opportunities for all kinds of applications of this if it finds widespread use as the price, ideally, comes down with more iterations.
This is a really big moment for AR / VR. As mentioned, no one has been able to put all those technology and make them all work seamlessly with the first iteration as Apple did. It is only going to be better. I envisaged a time when this new product class replaces conventional glasses to provide an even better seamless and natural experience. Thanks for sharing!
Dont overhype it. This is basically an overpriced standard vr headset that will run mobile apps. The ONLY reason this will sell is because apple has pretty much locked out any other VR headset from their ecosystem.
The myopia problem with screens too close to the face is a problem with how our eyes focus on content. Because the Vision Pro allows us to interact with it like it’s out in the room, our eyes won’t be focusing ultra close like holding the iPhone or iPad too close. The interesting thing I’ve noticed is when I bought a Quest, it had adjustments to help make the screen clearer. This doesn’t have that so I’m guessing it’s going to utilize the interior cameras to make sure the content is presented in a way that adjustment won’t be necessary.
Not quite. There's still an issue with focus. Our eyes expect to focus differently on close things than on things further away, and there's no way for a VR set to simulate that. All objects in 3D space require the exact same focus from your eyes. For me at least, this is headache inducing over a long period. VR is great in short doses, but wearing it all day would be a killer.
@@sythemaster1 it would, most motion sickness/headache issues come from the fact that the optics are not perfect and the field of view is limited which causes your eyes to occasionally focus on the optic elements rather than the image being rendered. This back and forth focusing is what's causing eye fatigue and some people are more sensitive to this than others. Eye fatigue should not be an issue given a perfectly transparent optic element and a sufficiently rendered image that looks natural with good depth and field of view. Of course this is the holy grail of AR/VR technology :) We will see if Apple managed to find it or not...
I like this concept for watching videos and playing video games, as well as for providing a significant personal office space without needing the physical space for a personal office. I am really confused about that very short battery life, though, when Apple has already gone in the direction of having an external battery.
I mean, the nice thing about having the external battery, and it looking like it’s able to be detached, which means that as the battery degrades overtime you can replace it without having to replace the whole headset, or even in the future when they improve on those batteries, it would allow you to upgrade the battery without needing to get a new headset, so it seems like there is a bit of future proofing there
@@joshuaberardelli9461 Don't get me wrong, the external battery setup makes sense to me, considering the details you mentioned and the weight of the headset even without the battery. My question is why Apple didn't work with a battery that is, for example, 50% larger, since it would just go into your pocket anyway. To me it comes across poorly to specifically advertise the headset for things like watching movies but then have a default battery life of 2 hours or less.
Big fan of both you and Marques! Think his video was great for the general info but this level of detail and insight was perfect for nerds like me so thank you (both)
I think for actually creating, it’s an excellent product. It’s not for entertainment, but a product that produces what people will be entertained by. For example, games, or images, or ads, or more. Just dynamic and thought rendering in a sense. Very stoic
as a good way for this technology to become a reality is cool, I like the Idea of having virtual eyes on your headset to not feel isolated, and having AR and VR in one platform is pretty cool... hopefully they make it accessible (which they won't) I'm sure it will work only with Apple games, on Apple shows, on apple movies etc.... but maybe one day gaming can benefit from this and tech moves forward ;D
Obviously I don't know much about the new Apple headset, but I do know that most of these features are on the Quest 2. It is cool that you can move things with your eyes, but you would still need your hands to "click" on items, just the same as with the Quest. I hope that Apple releases more innovative features with this headset, because for the price, I'm not sure if it's worth it at all.
Arun, just went on explaining the psychological, economical and even social psychology issues that would face from this groundbreaking tech. Eventhough we love to see this kind of tech. It just resembles that we are heading to a very kind of a dark era in human race.
So what do you want? For technology to stagnate or to carry us into the future by introducing innovative ideas? The same critics who were opposed against smartphones are the same critics who utilize those devices every day. Virtual Reality is the future and once a company can develop VR to that of a contact lens or glasses you and others will immerse themselves in it just like smartphones.
@@deced5 My only concern is there should be some kind of ethical standards to this (creating such standards is up to the scientists, developers who are working and creating new ideas) and there should be some kind of awareness from the beginng (just like Arun did in his video), if not the danger could be more severe than smartphones but this kind of awareness should be done globally without creating any language barrier.
Great review and video. The price is off putting but very impressed with the tech. Will wait a few years for them to really perfect the headset before parting with what could be then at a lesser price then their asking now
Think of it as a series 0 product as MKBHD mentioned it in his video. Maybe there is a VISION AIR down the line which looks like regular glasses people wear. Maybe a Vision SE that is not even glasses but a frameless screen levitating around your head. Tech is gonna blow up way faster than we even think. Apple said they have been working on this for almost a decade. who knows what apple is planning right now for 2033? Good times ahead for tech enthusiasts!

Very true

And knowing Apple; maybe that's not even gonna be possible..

Watching the WWDC presentation which I’ve waited months for, it was the first time I had a little bit of pre-emptive nostalgia for the world we’re now going to leave behind. I don’t know how I feel about public places transforming into pseudo-private ones to this degree.
Exactly because it’s basically just the oculus quest 2

Learning is always a profoundly lonely experience
@@frozenwindow407 it’s often an internal process and may seem lonely at times , but social connections and community can have a profound effect.

I just love this guy, all the other tech UA-camrs just tell about the ridiculously confusing specs of a product that only a certain amount of people would understand but my guy Arun just explains it in a way a person like me who knows nothing about specs could understand. The core reason I love this guy!!!😃

Well then, you're the target audience for these types of videos 🖐️
Thats why, Hestheboss
Don't read my name..
Idk how you make a $3500 purchasing decision without understanding specs, that's fucking wild
It's nice to be excited about a tech product again.
future Military use as well. pilot a drone or an f16 from the headset while having a brew at Starbucks
Great! I bet NASA will order like... 10 of them!
@@robm3569 Umm... tweaking the lag of send and receive is literally impossible. Can´t go any faster than the speed of light...
This is actually closer to something that I would like on the market, not all the way there but close. I'm excited for this tech to evolve!
What else were you looking for with an XR/AR device?
I don’t remember getting any eye strain while using my quest 2 so i should be fine with this
Oh I'm sure they would've promoted the shit out of it if they actually put that much effort into not straining your eyes. Nothing wrong in that though, this the one of the biggest problem with VR
This is the main reason why I stopped using VR, hopefully apple can fix the motion sickness that comes with using VR for too long
The potential of this is huge, but it seems to share more with iOS and it’s locked down state than it does macOS and its openness to tweak things.
Why Meta flopped
As a gamer I cannot think of the possibilities Imagine FPS games on this. Ganes would be so life-like and amazing. It's not a pathetic excuse like the metaverse. And has some actual computer power and competence.

Just 15 minutes are enough to alter brain waves to abnormal
For those that are ignorant on the new warnings on all cellphones not to place phone next to ear, look it up.
Can I take this skiing?
While I personally haven't found any issues with eye strain and isolation, I have found a major issue with heavy/uncomfortable goggle.
Everything about the Vision Pro can be completely ruined if your head starts feeling strained after an hour or two.

Nobody mentioned the motion sickness yet. I’m very prone to motion sickness and even watching this video gave me an imaginary headache. 😅
Watch mkbhd on how they deal with the screens.
@@brookewestonctc wouldn’t the 3D imaging and placing it correctly in our 3D space at least alleviate some of that issue?
External Battery Pro Edition: $3000
To me it comes across poorly to specifically advertise the headset for things like watching movies but then have a default battery life of 2 hours or less.
it makes the entire headset a lot lighter with the battery on the outside and a lot easier to replace
I just don’t want that battery getting warm or hot sitting in one’s pocket, that can’t be good for your body or comfortable having a heated device.

You explain tech the best for me. So simple and informative. Great vid as always Arun.
as a good way for this technology to become a reality is cool, I like the Idea of having virtual eyes on your headset to not feel isolated, and having AR and VR in one platform is pretty cool... hopefully they make it accessible (which they won't) I'm sure it will work only with Apple games, on Apple shows, on apple movies etc.... but maybe one day gaming can benefit from this and tech moves forward ;D
I mean… as long as it is similar to the iPhone and has internet access it shouldn’t be too limited
