I have had this game since 2015-2016 and have played thru it twice last play just a few months ago, I have watched countless videos and walkthroughs throughout the years and this is the first time I hear about the cakes

16:07 Actually the immediate execution of Louis XVI was decided by one vote. There were 721 voters, 361 of whom voted for immediate execution while the remaining 360 voted for other punishments like delayed execution, imprisonment, exile etc. The execution voters would have inevitably won the vote as the tide was almost completely against Louis but the vote did technically end up 361 to 360 for other measures, with 361 being the exact number of votes to get a majority!

Napoleon doesn't find the apple of eden there. He finds the key top open the vault in the DLC. He gets the apple much later in time.

According to the wiki, your take is true, but it has been disproved in game. If you use a specific outfit you can clearly see that what Napoleon takes outside of the box is the Apple of Eden, not the key - key that by the way doesn't glow contrary to the Apple. I knew some of them, but Let Them Eat Cake easter egg is something new to me. It's a pity that I completed the game recently and uninstalled it, I would activate that easter egg myself.
P.S.: I've noticed Ezio's look-like outfit from AC2, nice :)
