Corvids are crazy intelligent. They actually mimic better than parrots, because they can also imitate the TONE of different voices on top of the words.
Corvids are amazing birds, however parrots do the exact same thing. It's a necessary part of the learning process. Before the word has any meaning to them, they're just mimicking a sound. My bird says "good morning" the same way I do, same tone, delivery, & stressed syllables etc. Since birds start without any meaning to the "word", they are simply mimicking a sound, and as such will typically sound like the person being mimicked. These sounds are then run through that particular birds "voice box(?)". Macaws sound nasally, parakeets squeaky, African Greys nearly human, but they will all mimick the tonal rise and fall of their sound source. As they learn the meaning behind the word, they also learn that the delivery has meaning. "I love you" is delivered softly, "shut up" on the other hand, forcefully. As they get smarter, they change the delivery for fun. When my Macaw & I pretend to get in a fight, she starts yelling all the words she knows, because now it's about the delivery. Both "Shut up", and "I love you" are yelled at me for fun, though typically have very different deliveries. This happens only after the "sound" is learned though. The initial learning happens when the sound is repeated the same way, which is why all mimicking birds imitate tone & delivery.
Thsts the funniest crow I ever saw... it really made my day.. crows are amaizing birds... so smart... and they do remember faces... so you better be on they're friend list...
I heard that crows were very intelligent. But i never heard one talk before. Following the conversationn. They spent time teaching it all of those words. Excellent job.
I swear I hear him say, "Let me in!" at one point. These birds are extremely intelligent. I assume he had spent some time in someone's home at a point in his life. It would explain the lack of fear of human beings and, of course, the speaking! He is so pretty! ❤
No, they learn on their own. Often wild crows will occasionally form an attachment or interest in a person, usually if its being fed, and just by seeing the people and hearing them often they'll start speaking and copying words.
It’s not a pet. That’s makes it so much crazier. Crazy fast learner. But we know crows are competing with dolphins for the world’s smartest animal. So, no surprise.
And they also leave gifts for their favorite humans too! If there is a spot you frequent outside where they see you often, and they “like” you- they’ll leave “gifts”..marbles,pins,watches,coins, pendants (anything shiny they like to gift it seems). On the other side of the coin, if you try to hurt them or act negatively to them, they will NEVER forget your face. And they will warn their “murders” about you! They’re amazing creatures!!!
this is a crow named "Raven" he/she was raised in wildlife rehab and was released, but still hung around. unfortunately Raven passed away. (Walter is a rehabbers dog)

funny enough...for these birds the social stimulation is treat enough....crows and ravens are actually quite playful and enjoy vocalizing with poeple and sometimes other animals...theyl even fuck with thier own predators for thier amusement.
«Bird brain» should be a compliment, because birds like corvids and parrots are so bright and can develop human language and use it to communicate (not just replicate)! Amazing! 👏👏👏🤗💓🦜💓

Once a crow trusts you and is attached to you, it's immediate flock will be also. Somehow they communicate this to their "family." I was giving one treats each morning, next thing I have 5 more new friends.
Crows can actually speak our language and make very good sounds to mimic it, I believe it's called "freeing their tongue" they are incredibly smart so I wouldn't find it hard for them to overhear somebody speaking and observing what happens then repeating it to get what they want. I've seen many story's with crows and they are indeed smart and amazing!
No, freeing the tongue is actually a euphemism for a surgical procedure that severs the membrane connecting the tongue with the bottom of the mouth. While that has certain medical applications, it is in this case entirely unnecessary and would probably count as animal cruelty. Crows can pick up speech just like they can any other sound, and display a similar intelligence to parrots. As such, they can also be trained or taught accordingly.
@@grilledleeks6514 Right, my apologies. I looked it up again and discovered that, in the context of birds, "freeing the tongue" actually means splitting it in two. The rest of what I said still applies though.

@Cigzi Even dogs have learned to identify certain words. If they can see symbols or words and they associate it with something the person wants them to know, they can pick or answer properly. They don't need English or any particular language to understand what it is supposed to mean. I assume that a bird from Italy might not know what that word means in England. They would be confused. @@i.i.iiii.i.i have you studied anything about crows? They're fascinating creatures, and incredibly intelligent, but they lack the neocortex that humans and apes have. We don't have any proof they understand the meaning behind the words they are mimicking, and science so far points to them not. You could teach them to learn names and answer to them, but like a dog who has learned to speak a word, they don't understand the meaning behind the word. Trust me, I'd love nothing more for what you're claiming to be reality, I would teach my crow friends to speak.. we play counting games and they know and understand me well, but there is a huge language barrier there.

@@cathsalazar9930 I was agreeing…
Corvids are crazy intelligent. They actually mimic better than parrots, because they can also imitate the TONE of different voices on top of the words.
the main difference that makes them awesome is that they understand the meaning and communicate
Yeah that's not true@@contafamilia2092
I think magpies are the only animal with a higher brain:body ratio than humans
And learn the *meaning* of the words and phrases to use them appropriately, too. Parrots can very rarely do that.
I love that he's living free yet communicates with humans. Love crows, they are so smart

I'm stunned. Is this a trained bird. If one of my local crow friends did this I would have a heart attack. Coolest connection with the wild, ever.
Definitely not trained. It's hard to befriend a crow and get it to trust you. But when you do, stuff like this happens. Crows are resilient.
No, they learn on their own. Often wild crows will occasionally form an attachment or interest in a person, usually if its being fed, and just by seeing the people and hearing them often they'll start speaking and copying words.
Crows never forget a kindness or a hurt, and they'll all know about it.

Had no idea they could talk. Only mimic sounds. I've heard them mimic horns and car alarms. Never talk tho.
@@maaxorus no. it isnt.
@@grilledleeks6514 Right, my apologies. I looked it up again and discovered that, in the context of birds, "freeing the tongue" actually means splitting it in two. The rest of what I said still applies though.

They don't understand English bro lmao. They just mimic like a parrot
I have seen language comprehension in dogs, cats, birds, and other animals. Bro.
if you think parrot mimicking is even remotely close to corvid mimicking in terms of comprehension you clearly do not know much about either of them
