She's an African Gray, one of the smartest animals on the planet. I taught one to sing a song in about 75 seconds. Just remarkable capacity for perfect diction.
Grey's are not noisy birds. They talk to communicate only. I am 61 and older adults have the time to give the time and attention they deserve and need. Rescues are available and if it's a younger bird will need a plan for someone to inherent the bird. They are wonderful but only rescue
Not all Greys are “talkers” so if you just want a talking bird you have to get one that’s already talking. I have 2 that needed a new home. Both birds are sweet but can be sassy. One talks up a storm but is afraid of strangers. The other hoots like an owl and has to be around people. Each bird is an individual. Both of them are really smart - they watch constantly & learn both good & bad behaviors. They’ve trained my spouse really well. There are days I really appreciate the quiet bird.
I think it's more common with dedicated owners of long-lived pets like parrots and turtles, since the potential for those pets to outlive their owners is commonly recognised. when people have pets with a 15 year life expectancy, it's common for them to not consider the possibility of dying that soon, but when you have a pet projected to live another 50-100 years, then the pet outliving you is an easy possibility for people to accept without being tied to accepting that they may die soon, which is a realisation most people try to avoid.
I have a grey who will make sounds that will obviously trigger the dogs (loud clacking, knocking on the door, or she’ll just ring a bell). Once they go off, she’ll firmly tell them, “Stop.”
That bird isn't just talkative; she is CONVERSATIONAL. She is NOT just mimicking, she is SPEAKING. That bird is actually using a freaking LANGUAGE, man, that's pretty damn incredible. I could only imagine what she could with some dedicated language teaching.
Absolutely, I had a parakeet as a child. Got it when I was 6 mos old, it died when I was 12. I would love to have one of these bird's but, I'm getting up there in age & I wouldn't want to worry about what would happen to it after I was gone!
I have an Eclectus parrot, and he's amazing. Almost as smart as an African Grey, my boy (Kelvin) talks up a storm. He knows the context of words, and will try new things if she doesn't get what she wants. She imitates my voice so closely that my husband will think it's me talking. And we got him when he was little (he's 12 now), and I had a cough. He still coughs when I do, and will hiccups along with me. He's snugly, affectionate, and never bites. He lets me know what he's thinking, and will gently move my finger off his back if he doesn't want to be petted. I'd be lost without my boy. And he's plucked a lot, too. But you can't stop loving them.
My son and his wife lived in my basement apartment. They had several parrots. Boney, the African Grey was one of them. While waiting for my laundry l made myself comfortable on a chair in the bird room and started reading a book. All of a sudden my son says in an accusing voice, "Why aren't you working?" I turned around to defend myself and saw no one. Then Boney said, "Well?" He said it in my son's voice. I couldn't stop laughing.

My brother spent 2 years in the Congo back when it was Zaire. He had an African Gray that impersonated people so well, he thought it was his guard outside who was answering him when he yelled out the window.🤣 It also impersonated a motorcycle starting and fading off in the distance. A woman living nearby was pregnant and her Gray used to mimic her throwing up and a toilet flushing.😂
@@LillianMNowak I wish I had time to tell the entire story of the old missionary named "Art." He went on a trip back to the States and left his Gray with bird sitters. The young couple wanted to surprise Art, so they tried and tried to get the silent bird to say, "Hello Art!" But it was too stubborn. In his frustration, the husband yelled, "You old fart!," at the bird and THAT was the phrase the bird found interesting. So, for the remaining days, the couple were trying desperately to get the bird to stop yelling, "You old fart!" Art returned and the couple were terrified as they waited for the dreadful moment they knew was coming. Art entered the room where his beloved bird was, and as expected, it yelled, "You old fart!" Luckily, Art was hard of hearing, so he smiled, turned to the couple and said, "He said my name!" They never told Art that they had accidentally taught his bird to tell him to shut up and insult him!🤣

I once lived in a house in which the owner had 1 of this kid of parrot. She was already like 6 years old. No pet has ever made me laugh so much before. I think they can easily be the epitome of pets.
Yeah, my first interaction with parrots was similar, as a plumber one of my clients had a really friendly amazon parrot, and she would play hide and seek with me, ask what I'm doing, what that does, what this does, it felt exactly like speaking to my then 4 year old son. They deserve all the respect of a human.

Cosmo is amazing! The clarity of enunciation, the vast vocabulary and the comprehension of words is unlike any I have ever seen in a bird! What a delightful blessing to have in your home!
This bird tells the cat to shut up when it says meow.
have you seen Cosmo spell her name Cos m oooooo and telling Cindy if she is her mommy she must have feathers argument. ?
The whole "mom, mom, ma, maa, mom, mommy" reminds me of Stewie in an episode of Family Guy.
Yessss
My youngest daughter used to do that to me when I was driving 🤣
I bet that's where she heard it.
SAMEEEEEEEEE
I've had many birds and two long lived parrots they are smart, speak with understanding but most of all they are full of love!
seeing the images of her past feather plucking after her previous owner passed away to how she looks now, that's some amazing feather regrowth! a very good and obvious sign that she's got some good new owners and will live well
Guardians.... not owners.
@@Empathy4Animals411 Spotted the sjw liberal, vegan, arts and humanities major feminist loving, kale eating, nonbinary blue haired, free health care supporting, ferret owning, college educated, raised by a lesbian couple, addicted to rose wine, activist smelling socialist snowflake !!
I have an african grey too, she's 27 y/o. I hand raised her and she talks a mile a minute! They are incredibly smart and at times, it's scary. Just a bit of trivia, as she gets older and the hormones kick in, her personality will change some. Mine decided to start biting and they have power in that beak!!!
She needs a man!
🤧 aww she's so gorgeous, and lovely and chatty too cracking good video thanks for sharing 💖😁
Until you live with a Grey, you just cannot fully appreciate how wonderful they are, how much any time spent with them - talking, playing, loving - is returned a thousand-fold. Please don't get one unless you are prepared for life to change and to devote your time and effort to their contentment. The only awful aspect is realising they can outlive you, and trying to ensure their future is smooth and happy.
Also be prepared for large vet bills.
Our African Grey Teeco is just like her! She never stops talking and has great humour. We’ve had her since a chick she’s 20 now and she also plucks but she’s very very happy ❤
one in a million you're lucky to have her. enjoy
You made me cry when you spoke of your special bond. She is so sweet & adorable. Glad she has a loving home. Blessings to your family. 🥰🥰💜💜
LOL….. now that is Funny!!!😂

*Birds can be strange creatures It's fascinating*
That’s such a beautiful relationship you have❣️
Im laughing and crying!! I also discovered Apollo recently as well as Cosmo and Gizmo ❤. I think i love them as much as my dogs!!! Met a parrot Max at my grocery store and he came to me and stayed on my arm and shoulder. We love seiing Max at the store. Ive always loved birds but never knew parrots were so smart and emotional!! My heart is full!!! Much love Cosmo!!
She's so smart, and so funny, and your bond is just beautiful.❤
its absolutly incredible, how much personality can fit in such small bodies
That is so true!
I rescued my AG 5 years ago. Since then I can’t imagine one day without her. She was very angry and wild, but love does miracles. Now we are best friends. She’s smartest bird, my baby, always makes me smile❤❤❤
OMG!! This bird is hilarious... the nuances of human sound is amazing.
She is like your baby girl.. how adorable.. you will never have a dull like with that little sass😂❤❤😊
Her family that passed truly loved her too, what a blessing this bird was able to experience so much love in its life and its obvious with her exceptional abilities.
That's a whole person there! Personality included, she is so precious 💜 I hope you she stops plucking and be fully happy forever! 🦜🤗
Birds are so special, I’m glad the internet is making them more popular and shedding light on how special they are.
Cosmo telling the cat to shut up and then tattle telling to “Ma” is hilarious!
COZ really is my favorite. Her vocabulary is fantastic! Love her bunches.
Beautiful Bird ...God gave us these remarkable birds for companionship! Awesome!!
Between Cosmo and Gizmo. They’re so talkative, amazing birds. Cosmo is a sassy little cutie.
They deserve all the respect of a human.
i CAN'T even imagine how incredible it would be to have a friend like Cosmo... much love y'all
I love Cosmo. She brings me so much joy. I can't have a bird so I live vicariously through her, lol. She's just precious. ♥️
I feel the same way. Cosmo is a precious gift!
I ❤ this parrots accent 😮 UNBELIEVABLE all our feathered friends deserve to be treated with Love and Respect ! 🕊🦜🦉🦅🦚🙏
Don't forget the chickens, turkeys, ducks and other birds that people have been brainwashed into thinking are "food" 🐓🦃🦆
@@Empathy4Animals411 very True, 🦆🦃🦅🐥🐣🐤🦢🐓🙏🙏🙏🙏
Birds are living descendants of dinosaurs. They are millions of years older than humans. Lets respect our elder species.
Apart from seagulls and geese. 😂
African greys can mimic the owners voice after a while. It may not be the same but it’ll be close.
Oh she is so precocious and smart! ❤
I'm totally in love with Cosmo!!! Sassy, smart, magnificent.... She's precious in absolutely every way 💕😊 so very glad she has such a great home and family. Much love ❤️
That is why the first Mom gave the bird to the family. She needed to know that she would be cared for.
Cosmo is a treasure! Her videos give me so much joy! I just love her.
OMG...TOO AMAZING. She's remarkable. I can see why you love her so much. ❤
LOL the bird calling the human 'good girl' totally got me 😂😂😂👌
The mimicing a human sneezing one is just amazing 😂😂😂
Beautiful bird! What a darling! I’ll never meet her, but I love 💕 her!
Just precious ❤😊
1:32 I like how Cosmo tells her mom she’s a good girl when she answers her
I am so struck by the clarity of her diction and conversational ability ❤😂
My older sister got a female Quaker juvenile as a form of therapy when going through very hard mental health issues as a teenager.
Everyone including myself grew to love her sooo much and be amazed at how phenomenal those birds are! 😊❤
LOVE it!
Thank you for the vid, and you guys are lovely people for rescuing an animal so beautiful.
It makes me so happy that she is with someone who loves her completely. Such an intelligent, adorable little soul. Bless her and her Mom.🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
That's scary good! I love that she can just blurt out words that have real meaning and she knows what she says is important. I feel like she can just say what she wants to and knows what it means. I hope she lives a long life that can be awesome and great! Good stuff! ❤
She is beautiful. A real hardcase. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cosmo is smart, funny, and very cute. It's amazing how she seems to know exactly what she's saying. II'm so glad that she's in a loving home and I loved hearing her story. It made me smile. ♥
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BIRD, A TRUE BEAUTY FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
WTG COSMO. ❤
Nothing like caring for an African Grey while the owner is away.
How would you like coming out of the shower and hear”ha ha ha ha ha ha ha” from the cage on your dresser. Great way to keep you humble😂
My family had a neighbor come by three times a day to feed ours…he would say “See ya later” as soon as she walked in.
Friends have an African Gray. If it is possible to fall in love with a bird, an African Gray will get you every time. Such wonderful little souls.
I love watching bird videos and I'm envious of people who have them but I should've gotten one 30 years ago. I would always worry about who would take over for me. Cosmo was super lucky to land in this family's home. Very impressive how people with no bird experience stood up to the challenge. 👍🏼
Cosmo is a beautiful bird and is very intelligent. Her vocabulary is amazing. She would be as much company for you as a dog simply cause she can communicate and entertain. Cosmo has an incredible gift, "empathy" which a lot of people are lacking these days. I would absolutely have a parrot as a pet if life circumstances were different. Beautiful bird !
Cosmo lifts my spirits all the time. That coughing is hilarious! She’s such a comedian, and she knows it right? She’s a sweetie too.
“I love her sooooo “ ❤️
Seems like there’s more and more videos with all kind of parrots these days. I didn’t realize how smart and entertaining they can be, and Coz is one of a kind. 😄
I was cracking up and amazed at the intelligence & cognitive thinking. Oh but when mom shared her feelings I got choked up a bit! I’m a massive animal lover and to have that bond with an animal is so special & truly a blessing.
I’m so sorry about your friend but they left you a wonderful gift that will remind you of them forever.
🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️
This made me cry happy tears! I am so glad her first mom thought ahead to make she she had a good home. She's adorable!
Adorable ♥️
Bird tellin cat too shut up isn't something that I hear every day
Cosmo is the best and brightest.Sweet and kind with a sense of humor and sympathy.
This breed of bird is so intelligent ! They understand things.
I’m SO happy for you both to share such unconditional love❣️ My heart is full of gratitude!!! ❤️♥️❤️
She's Amazing!!!
She is adorable, I was feeling down because of somethings that has happened to me, and Cosmo has made me laugh.
Thank you sweetie!
You will feel happy again. It’s difficult to see when you are down. We are vulnerable some more than others. Focus CNN on everything that’s good and you will be fine. ❤
i hope things get better for you soon! ❤
@@heleneocleary5888 Thank you for your good wishes.
@@enderkai618 I thank you for wishing me good things.
Hey I love that little feather baby so smart.i could listen to that bird all day.i hope you all have many years of happiness together.❤🎉❤
She is so lucky to have you, because you love her soo. And we are lucky too because you share her with us. Cosmo is so loved❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's beautiful that she fits in so well with the family. I'm glad to see her happy. It's especially beautiful that the original owners had a plan for her on the chance something could happen . We should all have a plan for our fur babies
You gave her an amazing life it seems! Tons of people and other animal’s to interact with! It’s very difficult to stop a parrot from plucking once it starts. Stems usually from a deep seated trauma. You done Amazing!
