Froggie Went A-Courtin' - Spoon Lady, Tater Boys, and Trees Eating Humans
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 чер 2024
- I am so glad I got to take a moment and post one of these videos from the end of last Winter! Our buddies Blair and Josh came to hang out with us in Weaverville, NC. This is a lookout spot many folks come to. While we were there, a family from Texas stopped by to listen. They were just out seeing the sights and heard the banjo from the road.
Soon after this video was taken at the end of last winter, we swung into Kansas to settle down a bit and wait out the issues plaguing us today. Things will settle down, and we'll be back visiting our buddies before you know it.
The feller with the amazing voice is Mr. Dusty Whytis. Subscribe to Dusty's UA-cam for more amazing music, and some fun adventures. / dustywhytis

Dearest Darling Abby,
Duluth, MN has a request of:

Stay healthy, glad you are well.

Abby is a sweetheart and part of American history !!! She should be declared a national treasure !!! 🥰💋
She's so sweet
Abby is sitting above the word 'Queen' on that rock. Appropriate!
Oh yeah! I didn't notice that until I saw this comment!
Very accurate and appropriate! :)
i actually think its the word 'queer'.
Now THIS is music. You don't need big expensive machines to make music. It's everywhere and in everything if you just be still and listen. Love this so much
But music changes too.
One of my favorites! LOVE ❤ this rendition!!!
ditto love those old songs
Someone doesn’t know how expensive banjos are😭
Now that's my kind of Bass Guitar!! Lol
I Love Abby, she has the kindness and integrity that we should all have.

Abbysolutely! ;-)

Agreed. But all shoe stores would go out of business. :-)
Abby you deserve all the happiness this world can offer...
Thanks soooo much all of you...I am 70 yrs old and haven’t heard this great old song since childhood...still remember the words...lol...god bless xox
Abby Such a Blessing to my Heart during these troubling times. God Bless You All
Troubled tomes created by the elite greedy sick controllers of this world sometimes we have to rise up and remove those few who are harming this world and us all
Pure joy, you can't be still listening to bluegrass, somethings gotta be keeping time with them!
I agree amen
What marvelous All American rustic instruments, I love it! Music is about harmony with nature and people. So wonderful seeing this, thank you!!!
Can't even BELIEVE it. I learned this song when I was like 3 years old (and sang it to DEATH Cause I Lived it Soo much)!! Not many people know it! Thanks for bringing back some great memories, especially during all of the awful crap going on!, 👍💐😇💜
First long song I ever learned too, my Grandpa taught it to me.

Amen to that. 💯👍👍😎
Joe surfer shh don't let them know germ theory has been a theory for over 240 years. Virology based off germ theory. However they changed the root meaning of virus why? Its pretty simple, people are simple, easily controlled, you show them the scary make believe virus, then profit from the solution. Guess what your solutions are made of folks petrol chemicals and fluoride. Most won't listen though, pride and cognitive dissonance are a hell of a drug!
Virus "poisonous substance," from Latin virus "poison, sap of plants, slimy liquid, a potent juice," from Proto-Italic *weis-o-(s-) "poison," which is probably from a PIE root *ueis-, perhaps originally meaning "to melt away, to flow," used of foul or malodorous fluids, but with specialization in some languages to "poisonous fluid" (source also of Sanskrit visam "venom, poison," visah "poisonous;" Avestan vish- "poison;" Latin viscum
I guess they don't teach biology or micro biology in the schools anymore huh. Wonder why! But who needs actual science, when you have pseudo science and the cult of personality!
If I some how reached your mind through the layers of bs you have been programmed with, and you would like to awaken your mind, You should start with the patents on the flicker rate of the tv too understand why you become a zombie in front of it.
Becareful Alice there are many rabbit holes. Choose wisely,
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head
The sheer genius of these amazing performers absolutely blows me away! National treasures they are!

Awe...y'er so right!
After awaking up in the middle of the night to see America on fire and being too sad to sleep...I find you (Abbey, so soothing to my troubled
soul/heart. There is just something healing about these songs and this music genre. Thanks for soothing my troubled heart.
(my dad was born in Minneapolis...it's hard to disengage).
Makes me smile each time I hit rewind! If your a fan of Andy Griffith you have to love this music.. They remind me of the dillards. I hope someday they sing Dooley... This is the absolute best I've ever heard this song by any group!!
My Dad used to play this when I was a child! We all would sing along to this and My darling Clementine and many others. How wonderful to hear this again after so long! Thank you all.💕
Just freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!! My grandpa played with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs when he was alive.

Made my day Abby, giving us the strength to endure these trying times. Stay Blessed
I love her! When I'm sad and life just seems like it's too much, I come here and watch her and it makes me feel better. There's magic in those hands when they have spoons in them 😂
Wonderful! What a treat it must be to have all these like minded people to create with!
One has say these are the folks parents and relatives who raised their children, who worked fields and factories , farmed the lands, died in wars of the rich men's avarice, and always had the hearts and glory of angels that were set upon our existence to warm our being with joy and deliverance of hope for mankind. peace and happiness to you all. you will live forever.
This warms my heart. My Mom used to sing these songs to me. She passed away in January and I can't tell you how blessed I feel to have come across you. May God bless you back 1000 fold for the kindness you have shown me and give you the desires of your heart! Abby Jones

My Great Grandpa Jim Wyatt of Chicago via Oklahoma used to bounce me on his knee while he sang this. It's BEAUTIFUL to hear; brings JOY to my ears.

I'm 70, from Somerset, England and used to hear it on the radio back in the 50s, I think it was Burl Ives' version. Bruce Springsteen did it on his 'Seeger Sessions' album but my favorite version is by 'Uncle Pecos' from the Tom and Jerry cartoon of the same name......
Same here
I learnt it from when the Darlins’ came to visit Mayberry. Andy played guitar in the sheriff’s office. Lol I was 8
Abby (and friends) you have a special way of just warming my heart. I immediately tap my feet and smile. Thank you for sharing!! ❤
When I was a little girl....a loooooooong time ago when we would visit my grandmother she would play the ukulele and sing Froggie Went A-Courtin' to me while we sat out on her porch swing. This brought back such sweet memories.

I love inner city art in a rural setting. I guess it is how we civilise the wild rugged country. The native spirits of the land will be much impressed by our civilisation. Improves the beauty of the view HEAPS of it, if you get my drift.

Wow! Froggie Went A-Courtin'! My mother told me a story that when she was a young girl, some family was visiting on a hot day. Her sister was asked to sing Froggie Went A-Courtin' so everyone was sitting around politely listening...and it went on and on and on...til one lady passed out. 😄
I seriously lol at this story.

No matter the time, the place, or even the song, a jam is a jam and deserves some recognition.....
Imagine just hiking around the hills and stumbling onto this.....
Just how cool would that be?
It's pouring outside, there's a virus that's hurting our local businesses but, by gosh, there is absolute sunshine coming right out of my confuser here and boy am I glad for great headphones and an internet connection...and for you who share this beautiful music.
I really enjoy these videos. They bring me sweet memories of my childhood and growing up poor and Southern. Actually, I’m still poor materially, but always Southern and blessed. I love and enjoy each of you, especially you, Abby. God bless you all.

I been running these roads for a couple few years now and let me tell ya I don't never leave the house without some Abby on the playlist. I'ma blow my horn for y'all next time I come rumbling through Kansas and you just keep on slapping them spoons little mama!
Love this. My grandma would sing me to sleep with this song. She learned from her grandma in Sligo NC . Hadn't heard this in so long, I am 72 now so thank you so much. You are all wonderful!!
Abby, you always put a smile on my face. You remind me of a lady friend who died of pancreatic cancer. Mary was spunky like you and looked a great deal like you. Because of a car accident she too was missing her teeth. Love you sister, keep it up!😀
Really marvellous Abby- a great moment when you join in. The bass could do with an extra mic, but I always say that ... just great! Hugs and best wishes to you and yours.
I can't believe that more people are not commenting on the bassist! Fretless is impressive, neck-less is even more!
This music is really nice,thanks a lot,guys🙏🤝✌️
Love the songs watching you on PBS ! You are a good rocking lady and knows alot about the world and why you do what you do ! Thank you !
My mother use to play the guitar and sing this song to us when I was a little bitty thing, maybe 2 or 3 years old. Good memories.
I love this. My mom plays the spoons, guitar & mandolin. My dad played the tub! This was a prefect natural backdrop you are playing in front of! Blessings abound💕
Clicked as soon as I got the notification ! Haven't heard that song since I was about 4 .
It's just amazing watching Abby with those spoons...Music has no Boundaries.... wonderful video
I wish I had found you before my mama died! I grew up listening to her sing these kind of songs and teaching us kids to sing them too. Tom Dooley was one I still remember all the words to as well. She would have loved the spoons! Well, I believe she can see you now but I can't see her eyes light up.
Every one was more like Abby world would be better place less judging more loveing
