Here's an important step before adding the oil to the pot. If you watched Alton Brown's Good Eats, the first thing to do is a water displacement test. The water will show you how much oil you'll need to cover the turkey. This is where most fryer fires start since people just drop in the oil and if it's too much, the oil goes over as the turkey is lowered in and that causes a fire. So that's why doing a displacement test is VERY important. You'll properly know how much oil you'll need to fry your turkey and avoid having to call the fire department over for dinner or at least put out your dinner that caught fire.
@@armandocardona6975 No. After your done with the displacement test and mark where to stop filling with oil, drain the water out of the pot, either back in the sink or transfer to another cooking pot if your gonna cook another dish for Thanksgiving, then add the oil till it reaches the marker you put in the pot and stop adding till the oil reaches the marker.
Always cook them indoors, fill the pot to the top with oil ,get the oil very hot , lower a frozen turkey into the oil , if you follow these steps you will have an unforgettable thanksgiving
I understand it's always safety comes first, but I sometimes wonder what about we show them how not to fry a turkey, and also how to fry a turkey? And end of the PSA, all of them can have good fried turkey.
Thank you Chicago Fire Department! Now I know not to drop my turkey from 7 feet in the air into a pot of boiling oil!
I’m finally glad they told us not to do this, I was tired of buying a new house every thanksgiving when my house was set on fire.
Somewhere, a pyromaniac is licking his lips over this fiery cooking method.

@@Parzival_Z98 nice thank u friend
@@armandocardona6975 You're welcome.
Looks like i wont be dunking my turkey from 7 feet in the air into an pot that's over filled with oil
if you don't know how to cook, oil is one of the most dangerous things, especially deep fry.
I’ve seen a lot of cooking fails where people wait for the oil to be so hot, that if you drop something small, the oil will pop everywhere.
Well of course if you slam dunk the turkey into the oil from 8 feet up, it's going to spill over and combust. C'mon people, get real.
This was like watching the Fire Marshal Bill 😂
Lol at this PSA
tell you bout the time my buddy keith tried to deepfry a whole turkey

This is from people who don't read the directions. We read and watched the video and had no problem
Thank you CFD for wasting a perfectly good turkey to demonstrate how not to be an idiot.
might have to try this
Lets all agree that we should be careful on what we cooked during the Thanksgiving season. Cooking fried Turkey is dangerous seriously. 🦃
I understand it's always safety comes first, but I sometimes wonder what about we show them how not to fry a turkey, and also how to fry a turkey? And end of the PSA, all of them can have good fried turkey.
The poster looks like a fire turkey 🤣
thanksgiving was a month ago
?
Average American thanksgiving 👀💀
Turkey fryers are just way too dangerous.
*sigh* OK OK! I'll stick to using the oven! Geez! XD
Mais! Pourquoi vous ne faites pas cuire vos dindes au four?
steps to avoid Turkey's fires
1. dont drop turkey from 6 feet
2. don't overfill the container with oil
3. don't spray the container with a hose
Oil and water not only don't mix, they actively despise each other - as shown.
I always drop my turkey from the second floor right into the frying pot, i've never had a problem.
Screw that, I'd rather have the following
Pizza Hut
Pork Ribs with BBQ Sauce
Raising canes or Dave's Hot Chicken
Hamburger helper
This looks too dangerous ☠️
Anybody else drop food from 5 feet above the pot into oil? They could have shown us that without making the oil splash everywhere.
Do you really think I dump my turkey in the pot like that?
I don’t know these actors from the show? New Episodes?
Come to India 😂😂😂
Frying turkeys can be bad, but we all know the single, most dangerous thing at Thanksgiving is talking politics with the family.
I don't like turkey I prefer ham
FIRST
cAN i get a shout out
We have air fryers. It's better than deep frying.
I get scared when the pot boil's over when im making pasta. If i saw that just happen my brain would immediately say "🧯"
