Hearing Mal speak about her leadership drive on the field was interesting. Before her injury, her play was incredible, an absolute joy to watch, but having been watching her from her first game with the USWNT, it was also obvious that she had come into her own as an important leader on the field. You could see it in the way she was interacting with her teammates during games. I think, in a way, losing that driving leadership--lead by example--presence on the pitch was as hard on us as it was to lose her attacking skills. I'm so excited to see her back both with her club and the USWNT. Stay well and stay great, Mal!

thank you for this episode sam!!! mal has always been such an inspiration to me since i was young. her first comeback from major injury had such a big hand in helping me come back from a terrible injury that i thought was going to be the end of my sports career. her story is one that really helped me through everything and really helped me get my confidence back, and now i'm playing better than i have in my entire life. we love you mal!

I enjoyed this interview. I love these injury recovery stories. I have torn my ACL twice and now I'm injuries again. It's hard as a regular person cause I have to pay for physio so I only go once a week and it's along edit to see a surgeon in Canada. Hoping I don't need surgery again. This podcast really brings the athletes close to fans. I'm loving all the you tube highlights and prime games on Friday nights. So excited about women's professional soccer all over the world. I'm hooked. Soccer is all I want to watch now

Mallory was the most impactful injury-absence from the World Cup. She is a consistent finisher, and fast enough to beat defenders without being constantly offside like the older forwards. We could not score goals, and Mallory would have changed that.

How to watch games: you are correct. It's now very difficult. The past two years I watched every game (including the Challenge Cups games games last year). I could do this because all games were on Paramount+, which kept full match replays. I could watch 1 or 2 games a day as my schedule allowed. Now it's much more difficult. In fact it's not clear that the Prime games can be watched except live, so I may have to miss some of them. Bummer. Congrats on your show. I'll miss you on the pitch, but I'll see you on UA-cam.

I like watching any uswnt coverage because I have a daughter that plays and loves to watch them play. you do a good job at that but I think you go to deep into feelings and emotions and this and that. If you had more concentrated coverage I would enjoy more. Also most all of yall say I feel like to much lol. It drives me crazy. Just some constructive criticism from a random !!!!
Mal, Sam, Macario, and Sauerbrunn were expected as, or would have been starters at 2023 World Cup. Lavelle was nicked up... and others. I'm not making excuses but, that's a half of a team of experienced leadership that went missing.

I really think that losing Mal was the main reason for the US not winning the world cup. She was undoubtedly our best and most dangerous player.
