- Saipan is undoubtedly beautiful. But more often than not, life teaches you that it’s the most beautiful things that are usually the most deadly. In today’s video, Ashley and Mark set out to confirm this old adage by visiting 5 of Saipan’s most dangerous places.

I lived on Saipan in the early 60s when my dad was High Commissioner. No buildings, highways, cars or tourists. Pristine beaches with nobody on them. The only way to get to the Grotto was to lower yourself by rope. No steps. We used to go out to Marpi point at night and hunt coconut crabs. If you hiked around in the boonies there was still a lot of stuff left from World War II. Guns, ammo, airplanes. Not sure what it's called now but Micro Beach had Japanese pill boxes scattered around and there was an American tank out in the water that never made it to shore during the invasion. I had a blast out there. I graduated high school at Admiral Hopwood High School.
update: Admiral Hopwood High School changed its name to admiral herbert g hopwood middle school
@@miniexpert-playz Home of the Hillitai or I don't know how to spell it
Charles Goding I visited in the mid 70’s and I loved it. Garapan had nothing but a couple of shops and the place closed at sunset. The beaches were deserted and lots of war relics still in sight. The place looks unrecognizable now.
Hopwood is DESTROYED sadly
There’s another pillbox at Obyan beach as well as some latte stones.
Oh my god, I saw you guys when you were filming in front of DFS! This is really interesting. It helps those who don't know of the CNMI learn about our gem in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and it brings back memories for those who are away from home on this beautiful island.
I have lived in Saipan for work from 2001 to 2007. Its good to see Saipan again. Keep vlogging about it. Stay safe! all the best!
Awesome, love it - more power guys.
The one by winchells/kanoa is also accident prone.
Awesome video as always! Thank you for this
Awesome Video. Ive spent about 9 months volunteering in Saipan and have seen/experienced many of these same dangerous spots. One more dangerous thing on Saipan is how slippery the roads get after it rains. I have seen several Mustangs/Camero's that have ended up in the ditch/forest due to coral dust on the roads.
Great video guys....thanks
Thanks, Roger!
Well done! Entertaining and informative :)
OOOOO! I would love to meet you! Thanks for the information! Because I live here!
Oof hi Sean lol
old comment lol
Isw the only videos i can actually watch through🤩 #paradise🌺🌴🇲🇵
New subs here. Thank you so much for the info re:Saipan. Big help 😊
yay another vid , are you guys going do one about ghost , the taotaomona and the taotao tasi... ghost hunting?
That's definitely a great video idea! We'll look into it. Thanks, Allison.
La fiesta at night with only flashlights. NMC at night. DEW it.
Where's all the live ammo and bombs left over ??
I can vouch for the grotto being dangerous in certain conditions. I was leaving and about to grab the rope and “almost to safety” when a wave knocked me off to the side where the water pools. My leg went in between two rocks and got stuck. Luckily the wave was powerful and not leaving me behind and pulled my leg out (and felt like it was going to break it in the process). It was terrifying. My friends got me out, but then they got swept in and for awhile there I was sure I was going to watch them die. I learned real quick to respect the ocean and what it’s telling me.
Most of the stories we've heard while filming this video were similar to this. The danger occurs the second you take your eyes off the water because it's so unpredictable, even if it looks calm.
Awesome video once again!! 🙌🏻
Im always very cautious whenever I drive on the Quarter Master road! I would say that road and the four- way crossroad in front of Cha Cafe are the two dangerous roads for me.
Also, I’ve never been to Forbidden Island 🤔😂
Ooh good one! That intersection in front of Cha is the worst. Forbidden Island is something I feel everyone should visit at least once. It's spectacular!
I most definitely will go there soon 😄
I'd say the intersection in front of Gold's gym too.
Oh yea I'm so happy to come out from school and see another vid😁❤
Ay dave i found ya
Bruh stay outta my youtube life😂
@@davedeleonguerrero837 nigga i found dis on facebook, den i saw u here lmao
Thanks, Dave 👍🏼
Beautiful places. Now I want to come to Saipan and visit the most dangerous places there.
I missed this place sooo much
Me too just kidn I live there.
Wow GRABE, thanks for warnings and most especially to the beautiful views of Saipan beaches, no doubt Saipan is beautiful island. I live in saipan.
thanks for reminding us,but i still love Saipan, this is my home;-).im your follower;-)
Saipan and the Mariana islands in general would benefit so much from public transport, walkable infrastructure and density. Especially when you consider how small these islands are and that American suburban style housing is not sustainable on tiny islands in the middle of the ocean.
Hiked to Forbidden Island 27 years ago. Still remember like it was yesterday losing my fellow hikers in the 6 ft. tall thick jungle reeds on the climb back & feeling like each step would be my last because I couldn't see any path. How I made it back to the group & car was a miracle. Followed the sound of faint voices in front of me & prayed I wouldn't step off the cliff. Some places are better left alone & this is one of them.
@Sandra P....in early 1990s while part of the Police SWAT Team, during our weekly weekend trainings, we hiked down to Forbidden Island. About 3/4 of the team, are local born and raised in the CNMI and it was our first time to hike down. Though our hike was mostly training, we carried backpacks filled with large rocks the size of 5 gallons water containers, with each team members taking turns. Upon reaching the top, we unloaded our backpacks, and prep for our long March out towards the Santa Soledad church, although it was a tiring day, nonetheless the experience was something to remember for a lifetime.
I live on Saipan too
Cherry par! I live in GUAM! 🇬🇺🤙🏾....lucky your island only scary solid white line road.....us?.......Prim.......I can't say over comments..... they'll hear me👀........
Vince Sablan o
Im moving to saipan in a couple months just cant wait to get my own place and everything set up
Asaina, looking back, I can't believe my cousin, friends, and I hiked down in the rain and zoris... the things u do when you're young and not thinking!!!
Aye very true on that days
Forbidden island is dangerous. A friend of mine lost one of his children drowning there. I love it here, but I always make sure I am cautious when going into the ocean and try to never go in without another person. The buddy system is always a good rule. Thanks for the video. Good information for those new to the island.
I'm living here rn it's actually nice here not to dangerous
@Akoni the farmer Matsumoto yea true
Ayyyy me neither
It’s really good to see a fellow islander! I used to always swim at Aquarius beach when I was 2-6 years old. Now I don’t really visit it anymore but i visit it more now! My mother works by showing people on Saipan beautiful and really nice spots and she usually brings me to all her work days and she goes to managaha a lot! I remember when I visited the grotto at 5 years old I couldn’t go down there but it was really beautiful! I also visit suicide cliff, and ladder beach! I also remember a beach but I didn’t really remember the name I think it was called tank beach and the sand is red because of all the soldiers who died. Their blood stained the sand and now it’s red! I’m not sure if it’s still red but I used to live in Tinian when I was a newborn all the way to when it was almost my first birthday. I almost fell off bird island my accident because some rude person pushed me and just walked away and didn’t help me but luckily my parents were there and saved me before I could fall off. My mom came to Saipan at 2015 and my dad came to Saipan at 1997
Itz_MehTinaUwU yeah me too, I'm remember swimming all the time in Aquarius Beach.
Old man by the sea and I went every where where you guys went
Stayed with my cousins for a month on Capitol Hill back in '71. My cousin Joey Dennis showed us a place they called 'bomb fort.' Up in the boonies we found buried caches of used weapons and unused weapons , etc. of all shapes and sizes. Back then the airport was a quanset hut I think. 1 Hotel, the Royal Taga.Hamiltons Rib House. Joe Tens. The lumpia shack on Cap. Hill . Hope its as gorgeous as it was.
Alot has changed, Royal Taga has been renamed World Resort. The only part of the building which was once Royal Taga still stands up til now, which is on the southern part of what is now World Resort.
Hamilton's in Gualo Rai, if this is the same Hamiltons your referring to, also still standing which a bar and then closed its doors back in late 1990s. I believe the Lumpia store your referring to is now called Esco's Bakery, but then I could be wrong.
Great content. We spent almost 3 yrs living there in Saipan. Almost died in Bird Island or so, we had an unforgettable experience. I have the video on my channel.
One of The most dangerous roads is Dandan around 7Star Mart...known as Dandan Drift Track to me because people come speeding and don't recognize the blind spot!
They added some barriers on Beach Road and Quartermaster, and it seems to have helped!
My first hike at bird island. It was a school functioned hike and my friends and I set up a small beach blanket at one of the caves. And honestly I will not lie or fagaga but we almost didn’t return back with our school faculty because we couldn’t find our way back up the trail that we came down. It felt as if we were trapped in a loop and couldn’t find our exit out. Felt like the spirits in the cave were trying to trap us and not let us leave. It was super scary and probably my last time to hike there 😂
Forbidden island is fun. The only place you can swim is when you go to the right side there will be a area that’s not rough and it actually calm. The place you can swim is deep the deepest point in the area you can swim is about 7 meters.
I wanna go to Saipan. My mom lived there with her family (half Chuukese, half Chamorro) and she said it was a beautiful place. I’ve only seen old pictures of when she was there in the late 80s.
The day I visited Forbidden Island was after that day a dead body was found. I didnt know back then. And the hike is the reason I will never go hiking ever again😂 but the place is just so stunning❤️ missing saipan!
Beautiful looking place
I lived in Saipan for work from 1987 to 1994.
Oh what a beautiful saipan! ❤️
Prinsipe Estephan
It isnt a country it is part of the USA
It’s a territory of the USA
Thank you for the info ❤️. I thought its a country. Sorry 😐. Anyways saipan is a beautiful place to visit. 🥰.
And yet I still don’t know how to get to those shores near Bird Island
Im gonna live there
If u gonna live dare don't mess with locals girl u gonna regret
I’ll me you there!
Manny Mangarero I agree. Locals are strict and some are stupid crazy
Hi there. Great video! Love you guys. Haha.
Hey I'm wondering if you could help us help you. I'm with UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) and UMCOR has been volunteering in Saipan to help put tin roofs on the roofs with blue plastic tarps on them after they were damaged during Typhoon Yutu last year.
We have a team ready to come from New York August 18 through September 1st. BUT, we need a leader who has a strong construction background. Could you help us find somebody there in Saipan, familiar with roofs in Saipan there, to lead us?
Same I love in Saipan!
Does it rain a lot over there?
Do you get hurricane?
thank you
You're welcome.
Good video to spread lil awareness over those areas.. 😅
Thank you, Rae ❤️
Nice video 🤙🏽 North side always T8
Good footage but the audio is not so good... Thanks tho - I hope to be living there within a year.

Bantalon is not dangerous
My dad fishes at the other side of bantalon that was dangerous
Who was your guide?
I don't like the intersection between Garapan Elementary School and the casino. There's no light, but there should be!
Sameeee
I spent two+years on the island and one of the dangers is getting involved with the dope peddler’s. A lot of narcotics on the island and as a tourist? Do not wonder off in the jungle exploring. It is a good chance of stumbling onto a dope area and that will be the end of you. CWA
I live in saipan too
#ThisVideoIsHelpful....You left out some places. But maybe part two or something. You forgot to mention Ezbay, Coral ocean point, ladder beach and Marine beach. My favorite and most dangerous place has to go to... Ezbay has 3 jumping platforms with the 3rd being the highest from the top of the platform down to the top the water surface., In my experience I would say 70 feet drop into the water is deep blue, open reef, tiger in rare occasion. Legends say the place use to be a dock site. The tends to get rough if jumpers continue to shout. The is a cave under the second cliff which half of it is in the water. If you're lucky the medal ladder would still be there located at the first cliff.
Great suggestions. Maybe a part 2?
I live there
I think there’s a reason why it’s called forbidden island
Because theres no human contact on the island and the high waves around it
