I can’t wait to checkout the geometry. I know that HT is spot on. This is a blade that I am really looking forward too. Thanks for giving us steel nerds for something to look forward to.
Well can't really do anything about the geometry right now, it's still going to be a regular manix 2 geometry. Perhaps it'll be able to go thinner grinds on my actual collaboration design that's in queue. Thank you Scott.
@@FearNoSteel Considering how hot these 15V Manix2’s are, I think your collaboration model is gonna sell out the day before it’s announced. THANK YOU for working with Spyderco on these, btw. You’re breaking new ground, especially when it comes to production knives, and I love it! 😁👍
Really hype me up..always appreciate yr work Shawn..truth be told, i sub to your channel when i was learning freehand..best decision ever..keep it up🤜🤛
Finally got the Manix 2 in 15v... Great job with the heat treatment. 1. Easy to sharpen \ de-burr 2. Takes a screaming sharp edge 3. Holds the edge without chipping or rolling. I would love to see the Manix 2 Light Weight in 15v. (standard offering, not a sprint run)
I lucked into your manix yesterday, on 1/16/23 sitting in my local knife shops display case. They guy tried to turn me away from it saying "never heard of that steel, I would just get the s30v". They still use dialup bruh. Everyone glanced over it, no one knew
Can't fucking wait lol I'm starting to see them on a few site just not available yet! And got dang that is a dangerously sharp knife and for the price you can't beat the value
@Big Brown Bear what angle should I sharpen to shaman to? I bought a used BBB shaman with a 16-degree angle, and it has some micro chips in the apex. I feel 16 degrees is way too shallow. I sharpen basically everything I own to 20 degrees. Should I put a micro bevel in it of 17 or 18 degrees or go right to my normal 20? I don't plan on doing an entire re profile just because I feel like that would be waaaay too much metal removal at this point. Also BBB I absolutely love your heat treated 15V. Its literally my favorite steel!
There is no one size fits all answer I can give you, it's something you'll have to fine tune for your style of use and preference. I would be doing you a disservice by telling you you need to put a specific angle on all of your knives that depends more on you than it does on me. I'm rocking a 13 per side on mine without any problems. My friend who is a non-knife person I gave him a 22 per side for how he likes to use knives. Who's right? Who's wrong? Like I said there is no one size fits all.
@FearNoSteel thank you so much for the fast reply! Wow! 13° per side is shallow. That shaman must be a serious slicer 😳. I'm still very new to actually understanding edge geometry. I know the shaman in particular has a very thick blade stock compared to let's say a pm2, so given that and what you just said 16° per side sounds about spot on! I'm actually the third owner of this knife, so I have no idea if the micro chips are from me or from the previous owner. I will say I can only see the chips under a microscope, lol. I'm very excited to (hopefully) get my hands on spydercos HIC mule team tomorrow, so I'm no stranger to using a knife as a knife and not a pry bar 😆. I think I'll just touch up the edge at the same 16° it already has and go from there. I have a feeling I'll be very happy 😊. I can't wait for your 15v to show up again in spyderco knives! Thank you again for the quick reply 😁.
I have disfigured so many knives by trying to achieve this kind of edge qnd/or finish... it took me years to realize how unpractical maintaining this level of sharpness actually is! So now i have given up and just straighten my bevel with a ceramic rod so that it adequately cuts printer paper in a straight line. 🙃

Yeah I thought you guys would like it since the k390 and Maxamet was so cool I figured we can get something in between with a fine-tune heat treatment of course.
Damn dude. Every time I think I’m a decent stone sharpener, I get one of your videos.

Easy now you don't want to accidentally cut the fabric of space-time
Make sure Spyderco makes plenty of those bad boys for all of us (got a feeling a ton of us want them)!
Damn, That’s one of the best steel in the market. But I can’t never find a Shaman anywhere. But I really want one.
Impressive. Most impressive.
Thank you Lord Vader
.35 micron diamond compound, leather strop and a lot of patience to have that edge. beautiful excellent edge.
I finally get to a point in my sharpening game where I can cleanly slice a paper towel, and this dude over here cuttin 'S' shapes in it. 😭👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow... Sharpness perfection. Laserrrrrrrr
Thanks man

is there a drop date yet or is it still unknown? thanks!
How strong is the lock on the manix? Or rather does it have blade play? Every benchmade axis lock and spyderco compression lock I try has bladeplay.
Works fine, check the pivot and tension accordingly
Mine doesn't have blade play in any direction & it's been rock solid since I bought it back in 2014 it's the regular S30V version.

120grit, 400grit, 1100grit, 2300grit, 4000grit, 0.5um strop.
@@FearNoSteel which stones?
Does 15v hold a polished edge well or is a course to medium grit best for edge retention?
Probably medium grit. However, give it a test and see for yourself, your stone selection can be a huge factor along with your technique and execution.
can't imagine why would I finish any kind of steel on anything coarser than washita
