Sampson County Pallet Fire (Plain View Fire District)

Plain View Fire District assisted by numerous mutual aid from four counties including a tanker task force battled an enormous blaze in a private Sampson County pallet disposal site.

I would imagine the goal here is mostly to keep the fire somewhat under control. Especially being the risk to structures and forests is limited.
I would have enjoyed seeing a row of DC10 VLATs fly by,

Was that disposal site legal? Looks like a giant dump where stuff was just strewn about and piled up in huge heaps with no regard for fire safety or the environment whatsoever. The risk of causing a forest fire would be very high under certain conditions.
Putting a little bit of water on the upwind fringes of the fire looked like a complete waste of time and effort that made no difference whatsoever.

I'm not a firefighter but it doesn't look like they made any progress what so ever. They are generating a lot of steam though.

Looks like they are on tankers, with the amount of water they can put on the fire very limited it's more of a keep it from spreading situation. Once it's mostly burned the fuel (the pallets) then they can start to head in against it.

Looks like they had no chance with this fire, different tactics or not.

They have already lost the piles they are putting water on. They should be trying to keep it out of that third large pile.

When you got that size of hoses on a fire, why would you be frightened fire from the back of the fire and not having on the front of the fire to keep it going into that timber, who's running this show, they need to find him a new boss.

The tower ladder is set up on the wrong fire. they should have set up tp stop the spread to the larger pile that was not burning and let the one on fire originally go. There were no exposures and its basically trash. They should have stopped the progression of the larger pile. The tower is also set up way to far away. Sorry just telling it like it is
