For any other occasion, I would consider this a solid monologue, but for this particular crowd, I think he absolutely killed it! Over the last few years, the NHL Awards audience has proven to be a tough sell.
NHL people are so bad at doing shows like that but it's clearly not an easy job considering that the audience include a lot of hockey players and that somehow a lot of them seem to feel the need to have a "I don't understand what he's saying" or a "I hate that guy" expression on their faces. Burns and Subban looked as if they were having a bit of fun at least. Keenan Thompson is a funny, talented and charismatic man. You just look at the lack of timing for the confettis and you can see that there's something weird with these shows. I've never managed to watch an entire NHL award show.

The Tampa joke is stretching a bit, we all know what happened, people overused the jokes and it’s not funny anymore, the mighty ducks references were too much and it was dumb jokes then awards were placed randomly. The show was all over the place, it gets worse and worse every year.
