No. Joel Osteen tells you the truth. He simply twisted it to deceive even the very elect.
He is a master magician. A wielder of demons who controls the Satanic churches in the United States. He is describing the process of casting miracles and spells, with purposefully incomplete information.
You need the word of God to manifest God’s power.

I agree with you, but out of curiosity what would you say to someone who quotes Mark 11:21-24?
      ‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:21‭-‬24‬ ‭ESV‬‬
[21] And Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” [22] And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. [23] Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. [24] Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Yes it's God who causes the mountain to move, but it's the believer who speaks to the mountain. So here, is the believer declaring over the mountain and "speaking things into existence"?

@@MrOlu109 I've always thought that "and does not doubt in his heart" is the important part. I don't know if that is what Jesus meant, but I've always understood it to mean that none of us have enough faith to be able to say that without ANY doubt. We are all flawed in that regard.

@@gprimeofx But that can't be the case, because then what do you do about all the instances where the Apostles "declare" something over someone and it happens?
      ‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:6‭-‬7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[6] Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” [7] And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
      ‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:9‭-‬11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[9] Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him [10] and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? [11] And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.” And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
Did Peter not say/declare directly to the lame man "get up and walk"?
Did Paul not say to Elymas or Bar-Jesus "You shall be blind and unable to see"?
These were declarations/prayers over the people and yet they had enough faith such that the miracles actually happened.
So how can you say that no one can have this faith to point where they declare for something to be done and it happens?

Neville twists the scripture, just like Joel Osteen, but he was much more honest about being a mystic.

Totally agree with you. It is alarming how so many Christians don't have discernment. But, there is such a thing as the absolute wonderful presence of God. Seek his face, declare his word, and He will supernaturally reveal himself to you. Excited for your journey. Seek his presence, obey his direction in word and spirit, and you'll see the power of God totally squash all the dark new age laws of attraction. With that said, we all invite "presence" with our words and attitudes. Bible makes it very clear. If we draw near to him, He will draw near to you. It is the same with our words. Heaven is 100% more justified to act on our behalf when we obey and invite him with our words into our situation WITH HIS WORD. It is his word that carries "presence." Not our words. You are now a light in a world, as Christ's light shines in you, all other lights become dimmer.

I told some people in my church I was going to take the test. When I returned the following week, someone asked, “Well, did you pass?” I hadn’t, so I said, “No, I failed it.” She said, No! You passed in the name of Jesus!” A thousand times NO! The name of Jesus is not a magic word to declare success where your skill levels are not yet up to par. He’s not going to override the results of the test to give you a passing grade just because someone speaks words into the universe and declares it. Her declaration DID NOT come to pass.

Some believe it because they were taught by someone who they (unintentionally) idolized, or trusted very deeply. We associate the words of people we’re close to with Truth, but that’s not guaranteed. “All have fallen short of the glory of God.” “There is none who is good.” You can be completely sincere, and be sincerely wrong. No one’s theology can be 100% correct because we are flawed, finite, created beings seeing through a glass dimly - until the day we see Perfection face to face.

So nice to hear this. My FiL who espouses many radical spiritual beliefs loves The Secret: Dare to Dream, and believes whole heartedly in the sort of manifesting reality from positive thoughts philosophy the movie centers around. I watched the movie once and filed it away under "Pagan Nonsense" in my head. People want to believe in this crap, because it lets them feel like they have more control over this world than they do, and thus makes it less scary, and allows them to sidestep their need for God. It's a deceptively hard thing to swallow your pride, acknowledge that you are weak and broken, and that you need Christ and surrender your fears, worries, and doubts to him. Most of us will struggle with it our entire lives, and concepts like the power of words is just another warm empty lie we can turn to when we should be turning to God.

We have to be careful to not distance ourselves too far from our Model. If you say, "I'm not Jesus", then you subtly give yourself permission to not obey Him, follow Him or use Him as your model.
For example, Jesus said, "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, 'Remove hence to yonder place', and it shall remove. And nothing shall be impossible unto you."
Was Jesus just kidding. Was He telling us a whacked out parable? How do we give ourselves permission to ignore the Savior? What if Jesus meant what He said? I mean, 3 out of 4 gospels repeat this very promise. How do we wiggle out of it?
Abraham was justified because he believed the promise of God. Are we justified some other way? If we mock God's promises then in what sense are we "believers"?

    • @lexifan23
      @lexifan23 4 місяці тому +2

Surely not mocking God. Abraham is a great example. He had to wait on God’s promise, when he made the decision to take the promise into his own hands he created problems that the world is dealing with today. Genesis 17:17 Abraham threw himself on his face and laughed and said to himself, “Can a child be born to a man a hundred years old or can Sarah bore a child at ninety?” Genesis 17:18 And Abraham said to God, “O that Ishmael might live in Your favor?”
Abraham a great man of faith did not believe when God himself told him 90 year old Sarah, actually 91 because it says in a year would bear him a son. And if Abraham could have spoke it into existence, it would have been Ishmael the covenant would have come through.
I love Jesus, try to be more like Jesus everyday but I am not disrespecting or disobeying Jesus and or the scriptures when I realize I am not Jesus. I can’t save myself from sin let alone the whole world.

Unfortunately my wife believes the false doctrine of the "power of words". It was introduced into her brother's church (he was the pastor). That church, which is now closed, had a list of false doctrines that they allowed in because the pastor refused to do any research on the teachings and their authors. It's taken me years to coach my wife away from the "faith movement". But, because of Christian superstition and her family's unwillingness to let the rest of those teachings go, I still got some praying and work to do. I'm patient and I know God's truth always prevails...even though it may take a while.

So praying for your friend to be healed from cancer (for example)... that would be great, but it may not be in line with God's will. So it may not happen.
It may be such that through your friend suffering and dying from cancer, hundreds of years from now, 30 people will be saved and go to heaven who would not have been saved if your friend hadn't died.
God does answer prayer in the way we want, but not always. There was a woman named Barbara Cummiskey who was bedridden and had completely atrophied legs. A new church opened up near me a year ago. They opened their doors with only an empty church, a stage, four host personalities, tv cameras and microphones. Went to their YT channel and watched them broadcasting online to an empty church (you would only know if you saw the empty parking lot in person), as if they were a successful going enterprise. They are in the style of Todd White or Furtik in their manic preaching, upbeat music presentation, and snazzy, youthful dress. As the weeks went on, two to four, to eight to twelve more cars were added every Sunday. This Sunday, their lot was full, they poured over into the Bowling Alley's lot and took up three fourths of the malls general parking. They dreamed it, they spoke it, and it happened. But of course, this wasn't their powerful words speaking into existence, but just the business savvy to know this is what today's "Christians" want -- a performance, to be entertained, to be lied to with perverted Scripture interpretations, otherwise, the people would not be listening to the voice of another shepherd.

My mom went to a Rhema church (Kenneth Hagan, the godfather of the word of faith movement. I was surprised when I found out that Kenneth got the name it claim it idea from the metaphysical cults of the late 19th century. I did not like those teachings of believing that "as a man thinketh, so is he". She and I disagreed on it. It always felt wrong to me.

So I can just speak things into existence? Ok.
"Apartment you are now clean. Dishes you are washed. And my head ache is cured."
Gee, nothing happened. Guess I don't have enough faith 😊 lol

I remember watching that clip in the 20 questions video a little while back, and the examples you use make me chuckle because they are so spot on. My only question would be if there is any power behind the words if they truly meant what they said? Does the intent of the words, or even someone trying to curse you give them any power?

I ask those kind of questions too. Where the line is? I believe that God gives us some level of capability in this world. I just don’t know how much. I think we presume way too far in what authority we have sometimes. We aren’t the masters of the universe. But Psalm 8 is written about us, so I’m still trying to find the boundary lines for this.

As I do not agree with some of the very 'liberal" attitudes towards the words we speak about our words speaking universes into existence, nor the whole name it and claim it belief of the prosperity gospel, etc. However, I will say from first hand experience that the words we speak do have a very real affect on the world around us and they are seed sown into our lives.. What happened to me was that while my wife and I were discussing an issue involving her ex-husband, in a moment of frustration, I let that affect my thoughts and I said something derogatory about this individual.. Fast forward a week later, my daughter said the VERY SAME THING about me to my other daughter via a text message she showed her mom.. The Lord really disciplined me over this and used it to show me just how much the words I speak DO matter. Relating to what you mentioned too Mike, if you are married and are always speaking harshly with a sarcastic and negative attitude and manner towards your spouse, it will not only damage the marriage relationship, but 9 times out of 10 that attitude will begin to affect your spouse and they will start to speak to YOU in the same manner you have spoken to them.
So the words you say DO matter, they are seed sown which reveal our hearts. Matthew 12: 34-37, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and and evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Just as fruit contains seeds of the same kind, so do the fruit of our hearts, our words, carry seed when spoken. If its good seeds sown by the words we speak, then the fruit will be good. If its bad seed by the words we speak, then it will be bad fruit. The seed follows the nature of the fruit just like our words follow the nature of our heart's condition. All the more reason I pray the scriptures over my wife, my kids and my family.
The "grounding rod" of what we should be speaking and not be speaking, etc. is the Word of God. Not some fanatical proclamation of getting a bunch of money if you are in debt up to your eyeballs and spend your paycheck unwisely as soon as you get it. Or speaking health over yourself if you eat junk food all the time and do not somewhat attempt to take care of your body.. It all has to be balanced and in line with the Word of God.
So we need to be mindful of swinging too far one way or the other about how we view the words we speak.

The words you just “spoke” here had the power to make me stop reading them. Dude, you don’t have to write a sermon to make a point. Go look up the word “brevity”.

”Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.“
      ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭
Is also applicable to the words we speak.
