We’ll never experience a mature, quality game again that is meant for adults that had real blood and gore mechanics where you can shoot legs, arms, heads off, and even show soldiers scream in pain after getting shot. Mission intros that showed actual WWII footage from that time period, again something that only adults would understand. A game that doesn’t care about no one’s feelings as it shows swasitkas all over the game and all the atrocities that the Nazis have committed. Music that fits in perfectly as the Nazis fight to their last breath for the 3rd Reich. This is the only game that can get as close to WWII as possible. Games today feel more like Hollywood cinematic crap. (CoD: WWII & CoD: Vangaurd) And it looks like most of, if not all game creators focus on making games for children, even though they have an M rating, because the majority of gamers today are underage. So game creators are practically forced (not really) to create all these childish games with micro transactions in them. My generation (Gen Z) has definitely impacted the video games industry as a whole for the worst.
You can almost feel the hatred of the last dying moments of the Reich and the vengeful fury of the Soviets in this music. Beautiful work that you wouldn't expect to find in a Call of Duty. Video games are truly amazing
3:50 This right here gives me shivers. Because while Reznov and most of the Red Army are hearing the triumphant anthem from 0:21 in there heads as they rampage through Nazi Germany's final symbolic bastion, all that the tired and weak remaining SS combatants can hear is this. The low, roaring and terrifying crescendo of over TWO MILLION furious and vengeful voices combining to create a montrous entity of near inconsiderable might crashing down upon one building, crying out to signify that the Germans' brutal ends are at hand. All that they can hope to do is fight tooth and nail to take as many Soviets with them to their inevitable deaths, and hope that those deaths happen swiftly. WaW is one of the only war games out there that truly gets me thinking about the absolute horror of war to this extent and it's a shame that not many other video games do this, not even it's sequels.
tbh I love the feeling of a long and hard fought victory this theme gives. The Soviets suffered so much at the hands of the Germans, and this theme plus Reznov's dialogue really reflects that epic revenge story they created in the game with the Soviets against the Nazis.
0:01-0:20 April 30th, 1945: When he first spoke of Dimitri, Reznov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like. At times, I have seen him show mercy, and at others, complete brutality. I do not understand him. Perhaps heroes need not question their actions.
April 30th, 1945: When he first spoke of Dimitri, Reznov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like. At times i have seen him show mercy, but at others i put complete brutality. I do not understand him, perhaps heroes may not question their actions.
April 30th.1945. When he first spoke of Dimitry...Reznov told tales of a hero. Someone we should all aspire to be like. His bravory on the battlefield is beyond question. but he is also showing mercy amidst the brutality of the red army. He is...indeed a hero.
I thought that part of Black Ops did a good job pointing out the travesty of it all. And helped push the feeling of Reznov as some kind of spirit of vengeance.
They did the same thing in MW3 with Soap, they want you to build up this immense hatred for the antagonist by killing someone off who means so much to you, so when you eventually kill the antagonist, you actually feel like you killed your worst enemy that you've been hunting for a long time.
I love the heavy polyrhythmic metal guitar and kick drum at around 5:00, sounds like Meshuggah or something. It gives a very raw and impending feeling, like the drums of death at your door...I don't think it's a coincidence it also sounds like machine gun fire.
+Sithis Akel I agree. BO3 was a disappointment for me. Besides mentioning Raul Menendez, the drone attacks of 2025 and show Nova 6, BO3 didn't connect itself with BO2 or BO1.
9:25 "The bloodied heart of the Fascist Reich will soon beat for the last time!" - Viktor Reznov, April 1945 "I hope so Dmitri. I hope so." - Viktor Reznov, October 1945
Reznov: As long as you live Dimitri, the heart of this army can never be broken. Things will change my friend. As heroes, we will return to Russia's embrace!
Ahhh. World at War. That game is the only great call of duty :) it had great story mode, inspirational, good ending, great soundtrack(like this one), awesome co-op campaign, amazing multiplayer, badass zombies. I still play it up to this day 2008-2014

I don't know why but there is just something so awesome about the guitar riffs at 4:44 and 5:16 that I cannot stop replaying it. It really captures the brutal atmosphere of this mission.
very old comment, but i talked to some of my friends into music and we originally thought that it was a guitar riff, but it might actually be a double bass drum, explains the high speed of it sounding like an MG42 because those things can cycle at insane speeds
call of duty (and gaming in general) needs to stop being so politically correct and show what everyone wants, the harsh realities of war and what people actually went through. we want to learn about it but we can barely get that with everyone dumbing down nazis and hardly even showing japan as enemies. i just want video games to be a realistic simulator of what people actually went through, not just for fun, but to feel sorry and remember the people for what they did
It’s crazy to think the Germans at this point wasn’t even fighting for hitler it was all survival for them at this point they knew what they was fighting for was already lost
Slavics in general and Russians in particular have earned a special place in our human gestalt, while other nations are usually related to the concepts of freedom, celebration, refinement, spirituality and some other lighter qualities, Russians are irrevocably related with Endurance and Survival, they are the will of mankind against the forces of nature and death, refusing to give up to the cold end that one day may engulf all reality, ultimately it's this primal nature at the core of every human, this fierce determination against inevitability, what has ensured the survival and even prosperity when everything stands against us.
Most epic Call of Duty final mission, music, and by the same occasion, campaign. I really like that a lot of the sound effects/musical themes in Zombies up to Moon were taken from the World at War soundbank and soundtrack... the creepy nature of it fits perfectly.
Still playing the campaign in 2015. Zombies too. Not many players now on PSN who still play world at war multiplayer. Youll be lucky if you get a good game without a hacker minimum number of players. I really miss when we could play ground war domination or ground war mode war with 18 player hacker free. MP40 nd PPSH were fav weapons all round. This music is way ahead of its time. Good quality and nice work. Gives me goose bumbs!
horror, desperation, vengeance and sheer unending ferocity. i get sick to my stomach but that's part of the experience and overall this game fully taught me to respect war and the carnage it brings
War can get creepy from time to time.Especially when you really get to the area's where all the shits really going down. And I think CoD WaW's campaign did an excellent job at it,on both sides of it.
2QuartetRWS It depends how you present war though. I mean COD 3 atmosphere was completely different to WAW. Bright colours, happy music, 'peaceful' missions compared to WAW with dark colours, gritty music, blood everywhere, even the voice actors are more hardy like.
I finished the game on veteran about a month ago, but I only decided to make these considerations now. 1. The game is challenging, but not as much as people say. 2. Grenade spamming happens often. Even though it is really annoying, games like Uncharted 4 have this problem, but x10 worse. 3. The American campaign is actually pretty easy and more gameplay driven. 4. The Russian campaign is less diverse in terms of gameplay, but much more thrilling and story driven. 5. The atmosphere and feeling of war is portrayed brilliantly. Extremely brutal, eerie, and haunting. But it ain’t flawless though. Some weapons aren’t portrayed in the most accurate way (as an example, the MG42 reload animation is completely wrong). 6. The game doesn’t focus on it’s characters, but much more on the atmosphere. Reznov is the only character that you care about. 7. The graphics were good to it’s time, but they didn’t aged really well. 8. One of the best soundtracks in CoD history. Criminally underrated. Sean Murray is almost like a Hans Zimmer. 9. The voice acting is good, even though I think it would be better if the Soviets actually speak Russian instead of English. 10. The hardest mission is Heart of the Reich. To be honest, the only tough part is do plant the satchel charges on the 88s Flaks, and trust me: you will suffer while playing this part. 11. I know I just said that there are a few hard moments, but the game isn’t really all that hard. It is a walk in the park comparing it with CoD4. Heart of the Reich on Veteran is a cake walk compared to the ridiculous, broken, unfair (yet memorable) One Shot One Kill. I won’t even comment about CoD4’s Mile High Club. 12. The cutscenes are sick. They use real war footage and the overall design is great. 13. This game has fucking balls. That’s all I have to say. 14. The sound design is good. The weapons sound ok, and so do the explosions (which trust me, you will hear a lot). In conclusion, one of the best FPS experiences you can find on the old generation. I dare to say that is one of the (if not THE) best WWII games ever made. Also, I made a Cod on Veteran marathon, and I think this one was actually one of the easiests (excluding Heart of the Reich) CoDs. If you have the opportunity to play it, just do it.
4:45 I'm 90 percent sure those riffs are designed to sound like machine gun fire. Sean Murray really needs to work on more games cause he really nails the atmosphere of these games
0:05 when the singing began in the background, if feels like it was to represent the memories of the Fallen. Ps, it was my favorite part of this soundtrack.
3:50-3:57 rocket barage shakes the building as the giant golden eagle drops from its place.where it should have stayed as the heart of the 1000 year reich.
I have to say that this is most likely the best Treyarch game out of the others. As much as I like Black Ops, I will always take this one as my most favorite :)
April 30th, 1945. when Reznov first spoke of Dimitri, he told tales of a hero, one we should all be inspired to follow. I do not understand this man, at times he would show mercy, at others, complete brutality. Perhaps even heroes should not question their actions. - Chernov

I may start a channel based on missions executed in such manner... if you would like to see, leave a like

Vanguard is a joke compared to this.
Yes, this was an incredible few missions in WaW.
CoD wasn’t such a blatant cash grab back then. The games were actually good

This right here gives me shivers.

Not in that travesty of a story in Black Ops
It stands as an analogy to Cod as a whole if you ask me
Not to mention all that Shit we went through from level after lever of his part on veteran. Then they decided to disrespect him on black ops.
I thought that part of Black Ops did a good job pointing out the travesty of it all. And helped push the feeling of Reznov as some kind of spirit of vengeance.
"Hero" You mean war-criminal?
They did the same thing in MW3 with Soap, they want you to build up this immense hatred for the antagonist by killing someone off who means so much to you, so when you eventually kill the antagonist, you actually feel like you killed your worst enemy that you've been hunting for a long time.
I love the heavy polyrhythmic metal guitar and kick drum at around 5:00, sounds like Meshuggah or something. It gives a very raw and impending feeling, like the drums of death at your door...I don't think it's a coincidence it also sounds like machine gun fire.

very old comment, but i talked to some of my friends into music and we originally thought that it was a guitar riff, but it might actually be a double bass drum, explains the high speed of it sounding like an MG42 because those things can cycle at insane speeds

Hell. Yes.

Yes!
GREAT campaign, EXTREMELY hard on veteran.
call of duty (and gaming in general) needs to stop being so politically correct and show what everyone wants, the harsh realities of war and what people actually went through. we want to learn about it but we can barely get that with everyone dumbing down nazis and hardly even showing japan as enemies. i just want video games to be a realistic simulator of what people actually went through, not just for fun, but to feel sorry and remember the people for what they did

That's the most pointless, invalid and idiotic comment in this whole thread. Wonder what I'll see next.
