- Here's another look at one of the most popular models I have! I now have a lot more to go with this one, so this is a kind of update. I've since gotten my own HHP-8 and some Amfleet cars, as well as one of the excellent Phase V P42s from Walthers. Enjoy!
Those “track level lamps” are officially called ditch lights
I have the nor’easter set I just got mine brand new off of eBay and has never been opened and I love it. The hhp-8 is the best part
Awesome review, but the amtrak P42 that your reviewed is in phase V. The modern locomotive scheme currently in use today is known as phase V and the scheme used on the rolling stock is phase IVb. The "capstone" scheme was not formally addressed as phase V. And Athearn are now working on another run of the P42's that will be released around November. But just like any other run, they will probably sell out quick.
Cool sets.....like the livery on these models...nice vid jim
Can you model them in n scale? I model with the n scale.
I have the same type of Bachmann Acela which is Bachmann item 01202. I also have the Nor'easter train set.
It’s used for other Amtrak corridors and Amtrak long distance services
I have a HO Scale HHP-8 650 and a P42DC 67
Nice review
Walters should make a acs-64 and spectrum should make a acs-64 set
Would you sell the HHP-8
BOM-BAR-DEE-YAY
I thought the acela locos were not powered? Power coming from the 3rd car.
Lucky
While the Acela trains are a bit slower than the European HSR trains, they are capable of reaching 165 mph if the roadbed was improved. Most European HSR trains are capable of reaching 186 mph, or 300 km/h. At best Acela reaches 150 mph on some sections of the northeast corridor presently. But along the 80 mile section of track through western Connecticut from New York City Pennsylvania Station to New Haven, Acela isn't all that fast. Too many sharp curves, and ancient bridges slowing the train down along a century old section of roadbed and track. Similar problems south of New York City too, as the corridor is also a century in age with sharp curves, ancient bridges, and old tunnels. While there has been talk of building along a new right of way, especially through western Connecticut, that area is already developed, it is basically a suburb of New York City. That 80 mile distance is about the same distance, maybe a bit longer than the distance from London Euston Station to Northampton. I suspect the only way to upgrade this section is to elevate it with a 80 mile long bridge, which I am sure will be hotly contested by the NIMBYs along this corridor. Even replacing some of the bridges and tunnels would cost a small fortune, a huge fortune to build such a long bridge to New Haven. Notice the opposition to HSR in the UK on the ground most of the way to Birmingham from London, imagine the opposition of a long bridge to Northampton.
The noreaster set isn't made any more there rare to find
I found the noreaster HHP-8 set on Ebay
+The MTA NJT AMTRAK SEPTA PATH MBTA TTC (GO VGCP Fan 2016) yes I found it to but it's $ 564.99
Hmmmm let me think again
Sorry, but in 5:01 you've said phase 5. but it is not the correct name though. Nice video though this mistake and it was funny when you crashed your hand to the acela.
*chuckles" siemens
I wish this was a toy version of these three
Why would you want a toy version?
Plus that p40 is not an Acela locomotive
i hate the bachmann amfleet cars. I buy mine only from walthers.
I might do the same.
What?
