  • Savotta makes good rucksacks with aluminum frames. They designed this new modular LJK system and I tried it out a while ago with heavier loads and decided to get one for myself. This is a quick look video about the rucksack, a review and/or opinions video of the product is coming up in near future. A bit expensive, very high quality, made in Finland, a good purchase.

I believe that Savotta uses metal parts instead of plastic because of plastic tends to crack if the weather fells down to really cold temperatures. And here in Finland negative degrees are quite common.

Love the backup metal buckles. I've got an older LJK (non modular) and it's my go to pack for longer trips with no support. I would love to get my hands on one of the new generation, modular LJK's.

Yes, it's very expensive but it's also kinda not that good. I've had some issues with it. I can recommend it but only to the special people who appreciate framed backbags.

Thanx man. My others solutions would be Tasmanian Tiger Pathfinder MkII or Wisport Raccoon 65 or 85.
      What you think?
      Cheers mate

Except for the price that is an awesome looking rucksack.

The product is ruined with the pricing. The current version of this rugsack (Jääkäri-rinkka), costs something like 550 euros without side pockets. So, something like 600 euros in total.

KMHiker that is insane cost wise.

Dang.. looks awesome. Could also work for photography-hiking.
By putting the photography related stuff to the bottom (obviously with proper cushioning and an insert for the lenses and stuff) and the other stuff to the top compartment. Too bad it would be impossible to insert a tripod behind the sidepocket to the sleeve on the side. Also, a bit (a lot actually) on the expensive side..

Jesse Hook The gap between the side pocket it actually two molle panels wide, about 8 cm or so. Quite tight. But you could easily more one pocket to the front panel and have your tripod on the side with just the straps. That would work perfectly and would also balance the rucksack better.

mack tightwad Cheapest regular price I've seen is 500 euro and that's from Varusteleka. They are usually out of stock as it seems that Savotta doesn't believe in quantity but quality. I got my own from Varuste and I had to wait about a month or so.
