It’s such a sad story. Neil was blessed to have lived a life that most of us can only dream of but in the end he gave it all up to be with his young daughter Olivia. Neil has said he missed so many milestones in his first daughters life (Selena) trying to make RUSH successful and give his family a good life but he was always away from home. When Selena and Jackie passed he was left with this unbelievable guilt and he wanted to end it all but his current wife Carrie Nuttall pulled Neil back from the brink of despair. Once they married and had Olivia Neil wasn’t about to miss out on time spent with her so he walked away from RUSH. It’s sad because after Neil gave the world himself for 40+ years he was only left with about a years worth of cancer free time to spend with his daughter. Most of us never knew Neil but boy what a respected musician he was......almost divine . He will be sorely missed.

I know. The genius behind the band was humility, camaraderie and three guys each with a great sense of humor. They were friends, always. They enjoyed each others' company and knew when to give each other space. All of them worked hard at being the best professional musicians they could be (and all succeeded wildly) while avoiding the pitfalls of being rock stars. They took their music and their fans seriously but not themselves. They stuck together through all the years of bad press and snubbing by the music industry, eventually, belatedly, getting into the R&R Hall of Fame. Calling Neil "The New Guy" always made me smile, too. I had never in my life shed tears over the passing of someone I had never met. His passing caused me to. Neil was a giant in every way, an example to be emulated, someone that never stopped trying to improve, to grow, to evolve. He will be sorely missed. Love your post.
I missed it but he stopped in at a bar called the greyhound lounge here in Fairbanks AK, got up to play drums for a few songs on a jam night and the band leader was like , " you remind me of somebody", not realizing it was Niel.
Wow. I show who you are to my kids and your music and ask them to be like Rush. You guys are fn amazing people and your music has done so much for me. So proud of you all.

They Broke the mold when he was created !!!! To think He may have only become a farm equipment sales person for his father‘s company. It’s so fitting That personally he went for the stars and did what he truly was inspired to do.

I have seen them about 18 times give or take a few , Every Tour right up untill 2015's Show has been an amazing Experience. They were a big part of my growing up. Amazing amazing amazing GUYS....
These three have always been unique in the music industry. Not only were/are they 3 of the most talented individuals to grace the stage, they were also best friends. Not many other bands would have put their craft on hold while a member took time to get himself together after that great loss, speaks volumes about their relationship with each other. So many other groups would have told him to kick rocks, replaced him and moved on. Not these 3. They were family.
Not to be facetious here, but in a way, they were like a modern-day Three Musketeers - "all for one, and one for all", that's how close they were to each other. That kind of relationship, especially in the music business, is super-rare.
Martinsmartians- yes he is. But as someone pointed out earlier, he also left behind a Wife and young Daughter. Let's not forget about them and what they must be going through.
This man had it so tough in his personal life. What a brilliant gentleman warrior. I’m so sad he passed away. All my condolences to his family and close friends.
Even small clips like this are hard to watch...thank you Neil for getting me and so many others through our youth. Blessings to your family, band brothers and friends...
I lost a daughter to cancer after a 7 yr. battle with it, then her Father walked out before she died. I ran until I couldn't anymore and finally embraced it all and just let it flow. I'm still here.
There is a great story that Geddy tells about Robert Plant calling him up and getting them (Alex and Geddy) to a Page/Plant show in Toronto. Backstage they talked, as it was similar to losing Plant's son and then years later, Bonham. He told them that they needed to get back out there and kick ass
"That's life enough for me." Wise words... we often keep wondering so much about what we don't have, or could have, we don't appreciate what we do have.
This has been a painful time for so many. You never know how much a person that you never knew personally, never even met... how much they mean to you. There's an empty space now for a lot of us, and of course for his family and friends. That really is something special and unique. Neil Peart brought so many people happiness. The grief is very real, and it's very personal for all of us. What an amazing man.
Correct The best All Round Drummer. Had a great attitude & qualities All the members of Rush did, and that’s why they stayed together for some 50 years !! It was a great Loss the the Rock community
I miss this man...as a musician myself, what he did to inspire me to get better was astronomical. I cant even put it into words. The only bright side for me is that the music will live on forever, and every time I get behind a kit his influence can be heard.
in 2005 I lost my oldest daughter in a car accident, it hurt so bad that I felt like I was literally dying inside from the pain...Neil and his book Ghost Rider, really helped me out...what he went thru, losing his daughter and wife...I just had to look myself in the mirror and say "who are you to just lie down and die, who are you to just give up, this humble man (Neil) lost everything, and he Is still going on"....get off your ass and get back to living, is what I constantly had to tell myself....I have been a Rush fan since I was 13 and heard "Witch Hunt" for the first time...and I was hooked...thank you Rush, for helping me get thru my youth...and thank you Neil, for helping me live again....not all heroes wear capes.....
"You don't want to try to comfort them and find out that you're only just comforting yourself." Very wise words, Geddy.
I have always felt this way...it's not a detachment from them, but you want to give them their space. It's difficult to confront, but, as suggested, often something people do awkwardly....so tough.

One of the most unfortunate fortunate people to ever live. He lived a blessed and cursed life at the same time. RIP Neil.
I missed it but he stopped in at a bar called the greyhound lounge here in Fairbanks AK, got up to play drums for
a few songs on a jam night and the band leader was like , " you remind me of somebody", not realizing it was Niel.
That’s Really Cool 😎
@@bytorprairiedog700 I'm actually glad I wasn't there 'cause I would have recognized
him and been all fanboy. He always hated that.
He was literally the walking dead then. Sad and creepy. Now we know a bit more about what that saying actually means. 😮
Wow. I show who you are to my kids and your music and ask them to be like Rush. You guys are fn amazing people and your music has done so much for me. So proud of you all.
Thank you,all members of RUSH. Since i was 16, you have been part of my life. Touched by so many of your songs.
I have such gratitude for this band... Their songs have been my joy since 1975. Their HEMISPHERES concert i san diego was the best concert of my life. Thank you RUSH.
God Bless the Peart family. I know he’s reunited with his wife and daughter in heaven.
Such loyalty from all around him, maybe what got him through,,,r i p neil... my drummer started age7 but we started a band when we was age12 that was 1976 and to this day he says what i always felt, neil was the best ever drummer, never played the same bar 2x on any record, thats an out of this world level of drumming,,,YNWA
Neil is and forever will be one of the most influential drummers on earth. He was doing things that no one else could imagine doing in the 80s. I hear those influences in metal these days. He is a legend that is/will be deeply missed for years to come.
They Broke the mold when he was created !!!!
To think
He may have only become a farm equipment sales person for his father‘s company.
It’s so fitting
That personally he went for the stars and did what he truly was inspired to do.
One of if not the best rock band documentaries ever made...
He wasn't Nobody's hero , he was a hero for millions of fans around the world . RIP Maestro.
these guys were so much more than a band….beautiful caring and loving people

I’m thankful I had the opportunity to see him play drums live. The man in my opinion was the best drummer of all time.

I’m such a lucky man in that I’ve experienced rush live twice. And Neil Peart has always been a guardian spirit over me. His lyrics have always given me solace.
I have seen them about 18 times give or take a few ,
Every Tour right up untill 2015's Show has been an amazing Experience.
They were a big part of my growing up.
Amazing amazing amazing GUYS....
Personally, you gave me so much joy . From the age of 14.. I’m now 57…. R.I.p mr talented…
Great guys, I'm glad I got to see them several times, Rock on
Neil you were always just a guy to us. The truly gifted guy. The truly humble guy. The hardworking guy. We will miss your art.
What a journey.
Damn Neil, we love you man.
Your drumming, was the very heartbeat, of so many lives.
Neil's back on his journey.. rip.
Heartbreaking. ...and NOW they're together. R.I.P. Neil Peart.
Very well said
He was
“ A Gift Beyond Price “
RIP
Such a beautiful group and friends and great inspirations 🙏🙏🙏
The man, the myth, the legend...the professor. Rest in peace Neil. Condolences to his family, Alex and Geddy.
Even small clips like this are hard to watch...thank you Neil for getting me and so many others through our youth. Blessings to your family, band brothers and friends...
This loss hit me hard!! What an incredible, articulate man he was. R.I.P Neil!! I hope to meet you in another life!!
Mr Peart was the beat of my childhood, RIP
Awesome video. These guys are so f'n cool. The most laid back rockers ever.
RIP Neil.
A sweet gentile soul that could beat the daylights out of a drum kit.
Sorry to see him go. All the best to you Rush fans, we were terribly spoiled.
I lost a daughter to cancer after a 7 yr. battle with it, then her Father walked out before she died. I ran until I couldn't anymore and finally embraced it all and just let it flow. I'm still here.
That is a strong story you’re telling. I wish you healing and understanding.
@@onethousandtwonortheast8848 Thank you. There's so much more to this story but, I have no no where to put it. Who would listen? Who would care?
What a great band. A true inspiration. He'll never be forgotten. Thanks for all the great music.
Can you imagine the music in heaven with Neil and EVH
Also Richard Wright on keyboards, Syd Barrett on second guitar, Chris Squire on bass guitar creating a Prog Rock epic.
RIP NEIL and thank you ever so for the autograph you signed for for me. And thank you John Jones for making that happen..
Neil was the best complete drummer. The best. RIP
Correct
The best All Round Drummer.
Had a great attitude & qualities
All the members of Rush did, and that’s why they stayed together for some 50 years !!
It was a great Loss the the Rock community
amazing man. amazing life. if im 1/100 the drummer he was that would make me great. you will be sorely missed neil
I miss this man...as a musician myself, what he did to inspire me to get better was astronomical. I cant even put it into words. The only bright side for me is that the music will live on forever, and every time I get behind a kit his influence can be heard.
Huge respect for Neil!! Who would ever expect to see Neil Peart sitting in a diner!! So cool!! Sad to know he is no longer here!! Great video!!
in 2005 I lost my oldest daughter in a car accident, it hurt so bad that I felt like I was literally dying inside from the pain...Neil and his book Ghost Rider, really helped me out...what he went thru, losing his daughter and wife...I just had to look myself in the mirror and say "who are you to just lie down and die, who are you to just give up, this humble man (Neil) lost everything, and he Is still going on"....get off your ass and get back to living, is what I constantly had to tell myself....I have been a Rush fan since I was 13 and heard "Witch Hunt" for the first time...and I was hooked...thank you Rush, for helping me get thru my youth...and thank you Neil, for helping me live again....not all heroes wear capes.....
No words. Simply devastated when I heard the news. RIP Neil - the greatest drummer there ever was, and will be ever will be.
RIP, Neil. Many people are in shock right now. I hope that your wife and your daughter are there to greet you.
What a shame. This is one reason I've always liked Rush, they are just regular people. Neil was genuine. RIP buddy.
This made me cry...again. RIP!
RIP, Neil. Your rhythms forever flow through me.
