Dany is the only Targaryen that is immune to fire the others arent. Also be careful from picking sides in this show, the first season tends to lean one side but in the book its more grey. i wonder if they fix this in the next seasons.

5:09 i think this is the most misconception about Targaryen from the previous show. Daenerys is the only targaryen who can't get burnt. Even then her circumstances when she walked through the pyre in season 1 is involving blood / dark magic. And in the book it's one off only, plus she went bald for quite some time after that... because her hair got burnt too. But D&D for some reason decided to make this fireproof thing become her power.

I think in the books they alluded to her having somewhat of a resistence to heat even before the pyre situation. Like how she often bathes in near-boiling water and isnt bothered at all by it, and I believe at one point she retrieves one of the dragon eggs while it was sitting in a fire, and doesnt get burned. Unless these are things from the show and Im mixing it up. I watched Season 1 and read the first book in pretty close proximity and quite a while ago.
Yeah, if the Targaryens are fireproof then that would make the Summer Hall Incident impossible to happen. Summer Hall Incident is where Aegon V died trying to hatch dragon eggs along with most of the Targaryens which is the reason why their numbers dwindle down at a significant rate during the events of GOT. Prince Jahearys (Later King Jahearys II) his wife, Aerys (Mad King), his wife, and Prince Rhaegar who was born outside of Summer Hall as it burns to the ground.

Laenor, the rider of the white Dragon (called Seasmoke) is the son of the king's cousin, Rhaenys Targaryen, which is why he has Targaryen blood and is a dragon rider. As is his sister Laena (the little girl from episode 2)
Velaryons are blood of old valirya, as the Targaryens thast why them can be dragonriders like the Targaryens. Also velaryons are half Targaryens for ther mother side rhaenys

The Crabfeeder's purpose is to build up Daemon and to introduce the Triarchy. He got at most a paragraph in the book. That's it and that's fine because not every character is a particularly deep characater or deserves lots and lots of screentime and character development. He's also a neat distraction from the fact that it's the Targaryens who create the conflict of the story.

Kings Guard is an lifetime appointment till death with knights having to take an oath of Chasity and vow of no marriage. Breaking their oaths means death. Cristen Cole is one of seven Kings Guard.

Targaryen incest goes for the closest kin and Rhaenyra's mother, Queen Aemma Arryn was a daughter of Princess Daella Targaryen (sister to Baelon and Alyssa) and Lord Rodrick Arryn, that's why she has silver hair. Viserys was her first cousin.
The Crabfeeder fight was maybe a paragraph in the book. Fire and Blood is written more like a history book than a novel like GoT. This show does have a few time jumps because of that. This is a bit like a prologue, which made my viewing of it easier to follow as a book reader. I don't know if you were questioning why Laenor could ride the dragon during the battle, but he is of Targaryen blood. His mom is Rhaenys, who is Targaryen. His dragon is named Seasmoke! I think the Velaryons are some of my favorite characters on the show so far. Like, as in being more morally stable than the rest. Obviously every character has shades of grey and power is important to everyone, but they just seem a little less grey yet still interesting to watch. Viserys, wildly, is my favorite character. He's a Ned Stark type that is genuinely trying to be a good man, but he lives in a world that doesn't reward good people. At least not a majority of the time. I love his relationship with Daemon, who I think is the best character in the show, he's magnetic and you're instantly drawn to him. There's so much fun to have with him and Matt is incredible. Y'all are in for so much fun and twists and turns!

Also, the Lannisters have always been crafty since Lann the Clever swindled Casterly Rock away from the Casterlys during the Age of Heroes. The exact details of how Lann did are still unclear, but one story involved Lann sneaking into the Rock's crevices and chambers, switching gold pockets and other items and making ghastly noises to the point of convincing the Casterlys that their castle was "haunted". Another version was that Lann found his way with one of the maidens and had kids. Then decided to murder all the Casterlys and take the castle for him, birthing House Lannister. The Lannisters, filthy rich as they are, have small hiccups along the way. The twins Jason (drunkard suitor) and Tyland (Master of Ships) may be bumbling fools at times, and there is also Tytos Lannister later down the line. Tywin's father was an overpleasing guy who kept appeasing the rebellious vassal Houses Reyne and Tarbeck. You just need to listen to The Rains of Castamere to know what happened next. It wouldn't be until the rise of Tywin Lannister himself, from a Westerland knight to Lord of Casterly Rock to Hand of Kings, that the Golden Lions came so close to a hegemony over the Seven Kingdoms, even without dragons.

I found it annoying af. please staaaahp and just watch without trying to predict every single scene ahead of time. EVERY.SINGLE.SCENE. That isn't the same thing as 'reacting' to something that happened. I stopped watching these shows with friends because people are always trying to 'outsmart' the shows and it became unbearable to enjoy them in real time. Like every time Visery's comes out on the screen is he going to say "oh this it! he's gonna die somehow."

Not spoiling but Viserys would never be cool with Criston and Rhaenyra being together because King’s Gaurds take a vow that they can’t take a wife or father children. They are to be totally dedicated to the protection of the Royal Family.
Viserys is slowly becoming more ill from various infections, but not badly yet. His exhaustion at stabbing the hart seemed to suggest that he is physically averse to and repulsed by violence and death, which is a common theme in his rule and why ppl like his brother see him as weak.

Leanor Velaryon, young black character riding the dragon(named Seasmoke) DOES have Targaryen blood. His mother is Princess Rhynes(the queen who never was). The black family is the Velyrons, who can’t ride dragons but are of the same Valyrian decent as the Targaryens which is why they also have the silver hair. House Velyron has always been House Targaryens right hand man.
I got the feeling that the reason that Otto and Daemon really don't like each other is because they are in the same position. Both men are second sons that stand to inherit nothing. Otto sees Daemon as a man grasping for power, because that is what he is doing. The marriage of Alicent to the king was the highest move he could make, we saw in this episode that his brother, the lord of Hightown, was pushing him to advance Aegon's claim.
Targaryens can get burned. They are a little more resistant to heat and fire. In the books, daenarys was completely impervious to fire the the one time because of magic, but the show runners took that and ran in game of thrones
Criston isn't a marriage option. As a kingsguard they take a vow of celibacy and the "hold no lands, father no children" thing like the night's watch does.

The crabfeeder got killed off screen imo because it was obvious if it came to a 1v1 he would lose and lose fast. His strength was never himself but his surroundings and the people around him. So a fight with him and Daemon was no fight at all
Daenerys being completely fire proof was a show only creation in the books it was a one time thing not a permanent ability she or other targaryens are supposed to have.
The Crab-feeder got that name for executing pirates by drowning them by sending them to the bottom of the sea via weights, to staking them out on beaches to die slowly. Apparently, over time, he became much more obsessed in that, using the terror of it as a weapon of war rather than simply a punishment for piracy. He has apparently contracted the dread disease of Greyscale which is disfiguring him; hypothetically, he might be losing his mind and will kill by crab so as to spread the misery of flesh that he is suffering to others in a somewhat similar way? The Crab-feeder was 'winning' this war of attrition--somehow. Presumably with superior supplies hidden underground. But living underground is not fun, and you can see that he was ailing badly, possibly already on his last legs? Targaryen members sometimes have various magic abilities; mostly related towards dragons, particularly empathy with the dragons they bond with. Otherwise, they often have 'dragon dreams' whereas they can dream of the future or divine in other ways. They are also often resistant to diseases, it would seem--yet, King Viscerys is ailing, as you can see, so it is not a universal thing where all Targaryens have the same sorts of special powers and abilities. Yes, they--sometimes--have an affinity or certain level of protection from heat. Although Daenerys with her virtual total immunity to flame and immense heat would seem to be something of a one-off. Sort of a theme that the 'last survivor' has inherited immense power--sort of like Superman as the last Kryptonian as an analogy. Corlys Valaryon, as his name would certainly imply, is indeed a Valyrian; but you are right, though Valyrian, most of that family are not dragon riders, or capable of being dragon riders. They ARE connected by blood to the Targaryens; the founder of the dynasty, Aegon Targaryen and his sister-wives were born from a Valaryon mother, for example. The two families have traded spouses before, they do not ALWAYS resort to (close) incest. Corlys Valaryon married Rhaenys Targaryen 'The Queen Who Never Was', the cousin of the king. So, the two children, Laenor and Laena Velaryon are dragon riders through their mother. The Lannisters are already a great and wealthy house indeed. Which is why Jason Lannister dares to be so familiar with the Targaryen royals in this episode and is able to promise the construction of a dragon pit in attempting to woo Princess Rhaenyra. However, it is also true that they are somewhat removed from the eastern powerbase as their seat of power is Casterly Rock, the great castle above the city of Lannisport, is on the west coast of Westeros, and is a bit separated by distance and being somewhat rugged hill country.

I agree the crabfeeder was mid. I also think everything before it was absolutely fantastic. The nuances of Viserys' stag hunt and Rhaernya's boar hunt are couple of my fav sequences of the first half. The whole ep was a textbook exposition of what makes all main characters tick. Looking back this episode and the fourth plants so many subtle seeds about the personality of Rhaenyra Targeryen. Who she really is, things that fans go on to debate and will debate in years to come: "Is Rhaernya XYZ" "will Rhaernya have done XYZ".

The Targaryen's and Velaryon's are both white-haired because both houses are natives from Valyria.

The whole point of Daemon's attack was to draw out the army. If the dragon came in before all of them were out of the caves the entire plan would be pointless.
this is about 170 years before the Mad King Aerys II. Viserys I here is his ancestor by a few generations. If Viserys' baby Aegon here were to somehow get the throne he'd be Aegon II. The first Targaryen king was Aegon I the Conqueror 4 generations back.
targaryen can actually get burned, daenerys survived because of magic from her dragons, she gave three lives (khal drogo, the witch and hers) for her three dragons and magic protected her, but actually in the books she losses her hair. targaryens have high resistance to heat but they can get burned

Some clarifications: -The Mad King is Aerys II, this is like 7 generations before him. -Targaryens aren't fireproof. Daenerys's escape was a one-time thing and it has to do with the witch's blood magic. The 2nd time wasn't canon in the books and D&D just made that shit up, hence the misconception. But across history, there are many Targaryens that gets burnt or killed by fire. Even Dany lost her hair from Drogo's funeral pyre. -Targaryens are already practicing tradition of incest. Viserys dismissing Rhaenyra-Aegon proposal isn't because they're half-siblings but because Aegon's still too young at the time. Viserys's own parents are siblings, and his wife Aemma is his first cousins. -Ser Criston Cole cannot marry because he already took a vow of celibacy when one became a member of the Kingsguard.
So about the whole not burned by fire thing. That was a trait specific to Daenerys, she was the only Targaryen to be able to do that. So basically can just forget about that for this show lol Also Aegon II (Viserys kid) is like 6 generations before the Mad King.

It is weird, but it is how it is in the books. Even Viserys and Daemon's parents Prince Baelon and Princess Alyssa were siblings, and their grandparents King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne before that. Targaryen incest goes for the closest kin and Rhaenyra's mother, Queen Aemma Arryn was a daughter of Princess Daella Targaryen (sister to Baelon and Alyssa) and Lord Rodrick Arryn, that's why she has silver hair. Viserys was her first cousin.
The Crabfeeder fight was maybe a paragraph in the book. Fire and Blood is written more like a history book than a novel like GoT. This show does have a few time jumps because of that. This is a bit like a prologue, which made my viewing of it easier to follow as a book reader.
I don't know if you were questioning why Laenor could ride the dragon during the battle, but he is of Targaryen blood. His mom is Rhaenys, who is Targaryen. His dragon is named Seasmoke! I think the Velaryons are some of my favorite characters on the show so far. Like, as in being more morally stable than the rest. Obviously every character has shades of grey and power is important to everyone, but they just seem a little less grey yet still interesting to watch.
Viserys, wildly, is my favorite character. He's a Ned Stark type that is genuinely trying to be a good man, but he lives in a world that doesn't reward good people. At least not a majority of the time. I love his relationship with Daemon, who I think is the best character in the show, he's magnetic and you're instantly drawn to him. There's so much fun to have with him and Matt is incredible. Y'all are in for so much fun and twists and turns!

The Lannisters have always been associated with royalty since they were Kings of the Westerlands before Aegon's Conquest. Similar to how the Starks were Kings in the North.
Also, the Lannisters have always been crafty since Lann the Clever swindled Casterly Rock away from the Casterlys during the Age of Heroes. The exact details of how Lann did are still unclear, but one story involved Lann sneaking into the Rock's crevices and chambers, switching gold pockets and other items and making ghastly noises to the point of convincing the Casterlys that their castle was "haunted". Another version was that Lann found his way with one of the maidens and had kids. Then decided to murder all the Casterlys and take the castle for him, birthing House Lannister.
The Lannisters, filthy rich as they are, have small hiccups along the way. The twins Jason (drunkard suitor) and Tyland (Master of Ships) may be bumbling fools at times, and there is also Tytos Lannister later down the line. Tywin's father was an overpleasing guy who kept appeasing the rebellious vassal Houses Reyne and Tarbeck. You just need to listen to The Rains of Castamere to know what happened next.
It wouldn't be until the rise of Tywin Lannister himself, from a Westerland knight to Lord of Casterly Rock to Hand of Kings, that the Golden Lions came so close to a hegemony over the Seven Kingdoms, even without dragons.

The consistent predicting of viserys dying is hilarious
I found it annoying af. please staaaahp and just watch without trying to predict every single scene ahead of time. EVERY.SINGLE.SCENE. That isn't the same thing as 'reacting' to something that happened. I stopped watching these shows with friends because people are always trying to 'outsmart' the shows and it became unbearable to enjoy them in real time. Like every time Visery's comes out on the screen is he going to say "oh this it! he's gonna die somehow."

Viserys has a form of leprosy, that's why he looks off. It formed after the throne cut him the first time. They say the Iron Throne rejects those that it deems not worthy by cutting them.

Not spoiling but Viserys would never be cool with Criston and Rhaenyra being together because King’s Gaurds take a vow that they can’t take a wife or father children. They are to be totally dedicated to the protection of the Royal Family.

Viserys is slowly becoming more ill from various infections, but not badly yet. His exhaustion at stabbing the hart seemed to suggest that he is physically averse to and repulsed by violence and death, which is a common theme in his rule and why ppl like his brother see him as weak.

Leanor Velaryon, young black character riding the dragon(named Seasmoke) DOES have Targaryen blood. His mother is Princess Rhynes(the queen who never was). The black family is the Velyrons, who can’t ride dragons but are of the same Valyrian decent as the Targaryens which is why they also have the silver hair. House Velyron has always been House Targaryens right hand man.
I got the feeling that the reason that Otto and Daemon really don't like each other is because they are in the same position. Both men are second sons that stand to inherit nothing. Otto sees Daemon as a man grasping for power, because that is what he is doing. The marriage of Alicent to the king was the highest move he could make, we saw in this episode that his brother, the lord of Hightown, was pushing him to advance Aegon's claim.
Targaryens can get burned. They are a little more resistant to heat and fire. In the books, daenarys was completely impervious to fire the the one time because of magic, but the show runners took that and ran in game of thrones
Criston isn't a marriage option. As a kingsguard they take a vow of celibacy and the "hold no lands, father no children" thing like the night's watch does.
Unless the king relieves them of their duties.

The crabfeeder got killed off screen imo because it was obvious if it came to a 1v1 he would lose and lose fast. His strength was never himself but his surroundings and the people around him. So a fight with him and Daemon was no fight at all

Daenerys being completely fire proof was a show only creation in the books it was a one time thing not a permanent ability she or other targaryens are supposed to have.

The Crab-feeder got that name for executing pirates by drowning them by sending them to the bottom of the sea via weights, to staking them out on beaches to die slowly. Apparently, over time, he became much more obsessed in that, using the terror of it as a weapon of war rather than simply a punishment for piracy. He has apparently contracted the dread disease of Greyscale which is disfiguring him; hypothetically, he might be losing his mind and will kill by crab so as to spread the misery of flesh that he is suffering to others in a somewhat similar way?
The Crab-feeder was 'winning' this war of attrition--somehow. Presumably with superior supplies hidden underground. But living underground is not fun, and you can see that he was ailing badly, possibly already on his last legs?
Targaryen members sometimes have various magic abilities; mostly related towards dragons, particularly empathy with the dragons they bond with. Otherwise, they often have 'dragon dreams' whereas they can dream of the future or divine in other ways. They are also often resistant to diseases, it would seem--yet, King Viscerys is ailing, as you can see, so it is not a universal thing where all Targaryens have the same sorts of special powers and abilities. Yes, they--sometimes--have an affinity or certain level of protection from heat. Although Daenerys with her virtual total immunity to flame and immense heat would seem to be something of a one-off. Sort of a theme that the 'last survivor' has inherited immense power--sort of like Superman as the last Kryptonian as an analogy.
Corlys Valaryon, as his name would certainly imply, is indeed a Valyrian; but you are right, though Valyrian, most of that family are not dragon riders, or capable of being dragon riders. They ARE connected by blood to the Targaryens; the founder of the dynasty, Aegon Targaryen and his sister-wives were born from a Valaryon mother, for example. The two families have traded spouses before, they do not ALWAYS resort to (close) incest. Corlys Valaryon married Rhaenys Targaryen 'The Queen Who Never Was', the cousin of the king. So, the two children, Laenor and Laena Velaryon are dragon riders through their mother.
The Lannisters are already a great and wealthy house indeed. Which is why Jason Lannister dares to be so familiar with the Targaryen royals in this episode and is able to promise the construction of a dragon pit in attempting to woo Princess Rhaenyra. However, it is also true that they are somewhat removed from the eastern powerbase as their seat of power is Casterly Rock, the great castle above the city of Lannisport, is on the west coast of Westeros, and is a bit separated by distance and being somewhat rugged hill country.
There are a few more time jumps...they usually say something in the dialogue saying how many years has past since previous.
I'll be interested in seeing their reaction to some of the characters as the story progresses.

But as far as Targaryens go this isn’t bad at all! Actually, in our world, second cousin marriages are close to unrelated marriages when it comes to the risk of birth defects.

The Mad King was Aerys! And Jon is Aegon (the 6th of his name). So between this Aegon and Jon there were a lot kings. Greetings from Germany❤ PS: The White Heart is a sign for the rightful king, so it is a big symbol that Rhaenyra saw him and Viserys not. And in the book Alicent is already 24 yo, she is 8 years older than Rhaenyra.
Jon is not the 6th of his name he needs to be a king for him to get the number next to his name and according to the laws of westaros Jon is still a basterd so he has no right to the iron throne anyway you shouldn't take the nonsense of seasons 7 and 8 as fact.

Listen a bit more closely, this is a plot heavy story that covers many years of story in a few episodes so kinda every scene and Word counts. The white stag symbolizes a new King. Here it chose Rhaenyra.
Only Dany was resistant to fire. That was not a common gift. That's why she was titled The Unburned. Ser Leanor's mother is Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, who rides Meleys ("The RedQueen").
Dany resistant to fire was a D & D invention. She wasn't in the books.

I agree the crabfeeder was mid. I also think everything before it was absolutely fantastic. The nuances of Viserys' stag hunt and Rhaernya's boar hunt are couple of my fav sequences of the first half. The whole ep was a textbook exposition of what makes all main characters tick. Looking back this episode and the fourth plants so many subtle seeds about the personality of Rhaenyra Targeryen. Who she really is, things that fans go on to debate and will debate in years to come: "Is Rhaernya XYZ" "will Rhaernya have done XYZ".

The one riding the other dragon is Laenor Velaryon. His mom is a Targaryen (Rhaenys, The Queen who Never Was. The one who was competing for the crown againts the current King Viserys but lost because she was a woman. She's married to the white-haired black dude, Lord of the Tides, Corlys). The Targaryen's and Velaryon's are both white-haired because both houses are natives from Valyria.

targaryen can actually get burned, daenerys survived because of magic from her dragons, she gave three lives (khal drogo, the witch and hers) for her three dragons and magic protected her, but actually in the books she losses her hair. targaryens have high resistance to heat but they can get burned

Some clarifications:
-The Mad King is Aerys II, this is like 7 generations before him.
-Targaryens aren't fireproof. Daenerys's escape was a one-time thing and it has to do with the witch's blood magic. The 2nd time wasn't canon in the books and D&D just made that shit up, hence the misconception. But across history, there are many Targaryens that gets burnt or killed by fire. Even Dany lost her hair from Drogo's funeral pyre.
-Targaryens are already practicing tradition of incest. Viserys dismissing Rhaenyra-Aegon proposal isn't because they're half-siblings but because Aegon's still too young at the time. Viserys's own parents are siblings, and his wife Aemma is his first cousins.
-Ser Criston Cole cannot marry because he already took a vow of celibacy when one became a member of the Kingsguard.
