As an American, I love all the Pomp and Circumstance and traditions! My maternal great grandfather was English and my grandmother spent her summers in the UK. My grandmother said she never understood ‘British Humor,’ but she said I did from an early age.’ She told me I laugh at the same humor my great grandfather did, though I never knew him. I find it interesting how family traits pass from one generation to another! One day I hope to cross the pond and spend a few weeks in the UK! 🇬🇧 🇺🇸

If yiou're a fan of English humour you'll know this is the home of the Footlights, of Peter Cook, the Pythons John CLeese, Eric Idle and Graham Chapman, of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie... the list goes on. My PhD supervisor was an American. A New Yorker. The special relationship is alive and well 🙂🇬🇧🇺🇸

I know. My great grandmother was from Sussex County. I have always loved everything English: the Royals, English cottages and castles, the beautiful countryside , Downton Abbey,lol, and I LOVE English authors. I feel at home when I’m reading a book set in England. I’ll never get to visit England, but I’ve always felt like if I did then I would want to stay there and never go back to America, lol!!❤️

No country shows the honors to the military like the United Kingdom, the island that as an empire left behind roads, schools, trains, infrastructure for newly emerging nations to build on as they sought independence. English literature is part of our American education, including advanced degrees in English lit. From high school one of my favorite excerpts from Shakespeare:
