What's your favorite "on the go" mic? What about in studio? Are they different, the same, or some sort of hybrid. Would you use a solution similar to the one I've outlined in this video?
I'm quite happy with my Rode Wireless Go (both the OG and Mk II) when I'm not in a contained room. For "studio" settings I love condensers like the Earthworks Ethos, Rode NT1 and Neat King Bee II (Worker Bee II is also fabulous). And for something I just just keep at home and hook up for a quick voiceover I am super happy with the Fifine AM8. I also picked up an MVX2U a couple of weeks ago and am super happy with it. Love being able to use a quality XLR mic no matter where I go.
That RE-20 yoke takes up literally half of the screen lol. My favourite studio mic is the Sphere L22. My favourite on-the-go mic is the Hollyland Lark M2!
New to this and have not set up my studio yet. I really like the look of your studio and the sound of your microphone. I am glad that I found you and will watch the test of your videos. I want to be able to take my microphone outdoors to record interviews and came across zoom podtrak4 and wondered your opinion on it plus what is the best SanDisk to use for it. How do you get such great lighting too? Also, can I use just a dell laptop to do my podcasting? Is it better to use Mac? Or can I stick with android? I will not be doing live for awhile, just short videos. I also just bought the first items for setting up... the AKG p220 xlr mike.
Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated! If you're doing an audio-only podcast, the Zoom should be fine for you. IT has enough gain. Not sure about the onboard processing though. That you can always tweak in post-production. Lighting is part "black magic", part color theory, and very much an art form in itself. Right now, I'm using a combination of LED tube lights for color and LED bi-color lights for my key and fill lights. There are plenty of resources on the web for understanding proper lighting technique. For computers, I recommend a Mac because that's what I use personally, but if you're just doing audio, a Dell laptop will probably be fine if you're downloading episodes from the Zoom. For storage, I would recommend at least a SanDisk card rated V30. Don't go for the cheap stuff. The worst thing that can happen is you lose your shows because the card failed. The thing that intrigued me more was the osmo pocket never heard of it until this video is that a mini vlogging camera
