Some people are hypocrites, they think their meat comes from thin air; they don't want to see blood and butchering, but they eat animals without any problem. I enjoyed that video a lot, I liked the process and I learnt a lot! You are meticulous, and explained every step wonderfully. I am sorry some people got offended by something as normal and natural as the butchering of a sheep. Anyway, lots of love from Romania and I am excited whenever I get the notification of a new video. Take care of yourselves!
You come across as very unsure or perhaps it's humble. I like how you let your son learn by being with you and helping. In our busy western lives we seem to say no. Or go play. I watch aan Iranian nomad family and all the children are under their feet but they are all helping. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Come from Czechia there butchering is a tradition and my family used to butcher a pig every february.I was present to these events since I was very little.I could help with the blood to sausages or eat the warm cooked meat.Nowadays I’m mostly vegetarian but I think it’s a part of life and kids need to know how food comes on their plates.I choosed to not watch the butchering video and I think that everyone can choose to watch or not to watch🤷🏽♀️
I live on a tropical island in Indonesia and will never have to butcher a sheep, but I still found it very interesting. I also loved the birth video of Ivar. If people don't want to see those realities of life and death and butchering to provide food well don't watch it. Keep guys doing what you are doing. I love your channel and Merry Christmas to the 3 of you xx
I used to find it difficult years ago, but I find it quite fascinating and informative now. It really brings home just how detatched we all are from real life and our food. We would all be totally comfortable with butchery if we were not kept as slaves by our ruling elites, working meaningless jobs to earn equally useless money.
The community you’ve attracted is a reflection of who you are as people. Your videos have brought me so much peace and joy over the past 5+ years, and I’m grateful to share these glimpses into your lives. Good Yule and a good New Year!
So wonderful to see the sweet life with a young child running around in a snowsuit while learning alongside his very caring parents! So beautiful. Thanks for all your excellent videos we enjoy them so much!!❤
I love all your videos. Watching your wife give birth was amazing, so natural, she allowed her body to do what its meant to do....the two of you amaze me. We hunt, fish and eat and use all of the animal, we honor it, and we who live in reality know that it's the most nutrient dense food. People are sick today and obese because they eat junk and hardly any meat. The world needs to wake up.
It is very disappointing about the demonetized video. The thumbnail was very clear so I skipped that one. You do have at least one very loyal subscriber who is a Nan who loves grandchildren. I have immensely enjoyed watching Ivar come into this world and learn all about it as he grows. And such a little imp like my own grandson! Keep living your best life.
I am a senior from E. TN, Appalachian Mtns, U.S. We would refer to the snow tool as a snow sled. It is a little smaller than the sleds used here for moving things like hay, rocks and lumber, usually in wet boggy places where wheels would mar up into the mud. Lumbering by horses and mules is part of our culture. Sleds are also used in pulling horse competition. They are loaded with weights, attached to the horses, and on signal they begin pulling the sleds. The one who endures the farthest wins. Canning is also a large part of our culture. The "Ball Canning" books are the best, tried and true. I'm not sure if they print in anything but English, but they're very straight forward and easy read. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful lives. Peace and love to your family this "Yule" season. ✌ 💚❤️
Jamaica here had to comment again i love how your both growing your son he knows how to go about the home and do chores congrats on this he will grow into a well rounded adult i just love your content and please don't change to suit the people that aren't happy with their lives happy holidays
When I was little and learning to ice skate my parents brought a chair for me to hold on to. That is how I first started by holding on the the back of a chair and pushed it around the ice…😊
You both clearly explained what to expect in the previous video. As a deer hunter I was interested in how butchering would be different. You both are awesome!
In Canada they call it a Sleigh Shovel and they're most places that you can buy Shovels. It's a shame the your birthing video is demonetized because it was such a beautiful experience to see. Just you two supporting each other at home. It brought some tears to my eyes. Lots of Love for you two and they honesty that you show.
what every parent should do it is teaching their children how to live the best life they can in the environment surrounding them. Having your son learning the skill required to live there and also having fun when possible with what you have available around you is great.
Lovely to see a new video on a cold Sunday night! Greetings from Northern Ontario, Canada. Edited to add that here we call both those tools "snow shovels".
This is my second time watching your channel. I am Swedish on my father's side. We farmed here in California as I grew up. We had pigs, cows, and chickens and grew vegetables. Seeing you out in winter reminds me of the stories my father told me. His family is from Tving, but he grew up on a farm in upstate New York, also off grid. They harvested ice and sold it in the 1930s. They would store it in the barn covered with sawdust. You might try making an icebox to store your food. I'm not sure how long it could last, but maybe it would help when it starts to warm up. I really enjoy your posts. Carl. god jul
I live in Washington State in the US. I googled 'snow removal tools used in Sweden' and up popped a tool very much like the one you have, sold at Ace Hardware and called a Poly Sleigh Shovel. This one seems slightly narrower and maybe a little taller on the back wall but essentially the same tool. Really enjoy your channel. I'm always happy to see a new one posted. Happy Yule to you all!
dear TovaWoman, dear MathiasMan , dear Ivar-little Man, again, thank you for this slow and golden day . to culminate all different meanings in a "golden" video, as pure - and "simple" as your's , keeps on being worthwhile ! Good Yul, love
I appreciate both your birth video and butchering videos. The notion of Americans not thinking about death and even on some occasions birth, is not surprising to me, an American for the last 65 years. Americans generally want to 'sanitize' and institutionalize practices around birth and death. Births in the U.S. are mostly in a hospital setting where sickness is quartered, so birth is not considered a natural process but a problem to be solved by medical procedures and professionals. Death and the funeral institution and hospitals often separate the processes the end of life experience as some how distasteful and unnatural, when in reality, we Americans are the ones creating taboos around both processes, speaking in hushed voices away from the light of day or reason. Your presentation of birth and butchering for food and other uses is so refreshing to me. Yet, knowing that you might have both birthing and butchering videos de-monitized didn't stop you from sharing with your viewers. Thank you so very much!
It’s not just Americans,, it’s anyone in the world that believes their meat comes by a magic wand,, or people who are believing eating only vegetables or bugs is the way to go,,,
We can delicious lamb stew every year with two of our lamb legs, the rest goes into our freezers. Canning soups, and stews is so convenient, as it simply only needs to be warmed up.
In Alaska, we called this kind of push shovel snow scoop. Ivar was so cute and helpful opening the path to the chicken coop for his mama; he will become a thriving and well-balanced young man.❤
Loved watching you both ice skate in this video! What wonderful memories to have on film, and being able to watch those in 10 years when Ivar is a teenager will be priceless!
Hello family . . . I have been 'with you' since before Ivar was ever mentioned! and this has been a most informative and pleasant journey ... watching the birth and growth of your lovely son! I'm sooo sorry that UA-cam has chosen to stop the broadcast of those lovely, loving videos . . . shame on 'them' . . . I felt the birthing video was absolutely modest, and recommended it to many of my friends, back when it was available. I find you to be an amazing family unit---and being bi-lingual is so appreciated by those of this viewership in the USA. Please keep up your spirits and continue to keep your public informed! Thank you - I am a Patreon contributor :>)
Thank you for your kind words! Ivars birth video is still available, it is just demonetised, that means we do not earn any money on the video from youtube views, witch is a shame, since it is one of our best preforming videos. Luckily we have our patreons ♡
Jsem z Česka a mam moc rada vase vudea a vás, jak krasne v souladu žijete se synkem a oveckami. Je to nádherné pozorovat, jsk sikovni a pracoviti jste. Vyhlizim kazde vase video a mam t nej radost. Ahoj. Šárka
My children learned to skate by pushing something as big as they are themselfs. So they could learn to stand on their own feet (skates) but still hold on to something. Perhaps a bag of Hey? We have in Switzerland Plastic Penguins you can hire when you are on a public icefield for the children. But I guess you come up with some sort of idea. But your teaching and skating together with Ivar looks like a lot uf fun. I love your videos and your , sometimes provocativ thoughts, make me rethink many of my ideas of looking at life. I am 73 years old and still learing.
Hi! I live in Northern Ontario where the Finnish culture thrives. The city of Thunder Bay has the most Fnnish speaking people in all of North America. Where I live now in the country (In the hills), many of our areas all have Finnish names. Kivikoski, Lappe, Upsala, Koivu, Toimela, and so on. We have here exactly the same weather and landscape as Finland. That is why so many people settled here. Even those of us who aren't finnish or scandanavian, we have the culture in our blood now. Many of us eat the same foods, sauna, ice fish, cross country ski and enjoy the winter activities. All thanks to the settlers. 💖
Ivar has turned into a great help to you both. It’s is so lovely to hear his cheerful voice. I call it Christmas and I always will no matter what anyone else decides to call it. Everywhere looks very cold and as I hate being cold so I will enjoy seeing it through your eyes. Thank you for a great video.
My great uncle hunted deer which he butchered for food. Where do people think meat comes from? Just miraculously appears in a grocery store. Love your channel. Ivar is growing so fast hope you feel better soon.
hello from Poland , I have been watching yout=r videos since my son s birthday , I am impressed and I admire your enthusiasm , work, life its charming in such conditions , I wish you health and every success in the rest of your life - Joanna
Lovely video… we have that type of shovel in snowy Canada, sometimes called sleigh shovels, you can do a very long driveway with them and such good exercise, no lifting needed. A light child’s chair can help with learning to skate, you keep it in front and the child can stand up holding the back rest part to give some support and slowly push it forward…. And sit to rest - hard work learning to skate and teaching!
In Minnesota, USA, we call it a “snow scoop”. Very useful tool for moving snow. My husband has even used it on our house roof when we had over 1.5 meters of snow two winters ago. Minnesota has a strong Scandinavian heritage and seems very similar to your region.
I lived in a small town before. My grandparents had a huge garden and they kept poultry and bees. I saw them butchering the hens and then we had a delicious broth and a roast. I love skating - Ivar will soon get the hang of it.
Thankyou for your great videos! Brought back memories of learning to skate in Holland on the canal with a chair. Now in Canada for last 65 years. We have some great hockey players from Sweden on our canadian teams and US teams! Look forward to your Christmas season videos!
I just love how awake you both are. Words do carry a lot of energy. We must choose them carefully. We cast spells when we speak and write. That's why they call it spelling. Knowledge is Power. ❤
I loved the views of Ivar shoveling snow with you. He is getting so big. What a joy to have that time with your son, in the US that doesn't seem to happen often. I treasure the memories of my son at that age. He is 33 years old now! Goes by so quickly. I'm looking forward to more of your "provocative " questions.🙂 Also, I'm sorry you lost the monetization on your videos. I did not see them as offensive at all.
Nice to see Ivar taking his own initiatives by himself!!! (go and get the shovel and more). He really grew a lot this summer: top of his head is reaching your waste! He is also really helping you now... a true assistant! Here in Canada, they call it a "sleigh shovel" and it is current to have them here in all hardware shops. Don't worry, I too forgot the Ste-Lucie festive light ceremony! Very nice idea this live video...👌💖🎄💫 ps... When my nose is clogged, I put hot water in a bowl or pan, add some drops of eucalyptus/Ravintsara HE, put a towel over my head and my head over this bowl, inhaling ... clearing guarantied!👌🤧 Now that I see that your lake has deep ice, you could have your freezer, old time style: a whole in the ground, one part with blocs of ice mixed with sawdust and a metal container surrounded by those ice where you put your food to freeze... keeps long underground because everything is frozen and the ice melts slowly in spring (sawdust)... Hunting/fishing game owner was my cousin!
Here we can see how far many people have gone from the nature and natural prosesses of having meat as food. It just "appears" to the supermarkets! I appreciate your way of life and showing truthfully and nicely the realities of lovely Life ❤️
I enjoyed your video. I don't watch the ones I don't want to watch and you gave a fair warning as to its content. I grew up on a lake and used to love to get out when the lake first froze, before it snowed, when the ice was perfect for skating. It was like glass and seemed endless. Merry Christmas to your lovely family!
Ahh, also here, Alberta Canada I have an herb, mullein tea,, cough goes away! But in some cases it’s a good thing to cough as your body cleans and purges to heal.. much love to your family
You all look like you need a good rest or at least a good nights sleep. This was a really nice relaxing video thankyou so much for sharing it.Seeing you skating now with your son and then when he was a baby almost brought a tear of joy,l remember that video very well, how time flys.Tova l can see you tiered but you look so beautiful and your hair has grown so much its gorgeous ❤ Please stay safe and well, sending warm hugs ....Joyce from uk England 💞💐
Härligt att se på er, hur ni lever ett naturligt liv ute i skogen. Och Ivar har en jättefin uppväxt utan en massa onödiga restriktioner. Ha det bra! Hälsningar från Tyskland och kiva att höra finlandssvenska 😊
I just love your family time together. You film your life so well. Teaching Ivar from the beginning to know butchering is so smart. He will be able to feed his family always. God bless and keep your family. 🎄🌲
Can find the snow thingy in Russia too, anywhere where there’s lots of snow. It is very good ❤ there is no word in English because there is no snow here 😂 Father and son relationship is so beautiful. As a mother I have this in my family and it’s the best thing to watch
you are a sweet family who work hard on an off-grid farm. I wish where I live to be off-grid.. working towards that reality. You are a great inspiration. sending love from my farm on the Big Island of Hawaii
Ivor Is such a cutie! I live on the Canadian Prairies (lots of snow) We use the same snow removal tools, we call the big one a snow scoop and the smaller one a shovel. God Jul!
That was such a beautiful video. I remember the first time I watched your video and it was of you skating with your son I live in Canada and did a lot of skating in my day but now I am 74 and because of a few falls I can’t skate anymore, one thing I was wondering how do you keep your feet warm that was my worst when I was skating. My dad used to build an ice rink in our backyard and we would skate all winter but now the winters are so mild that we don’t do that anymore, but my dad also would make a whole pile of pancakes. We would eat after we went skating. I wanted to mention you about the snow shovel as I grew older and harder to push the snow away. We had a snow shovel that looked just like yours. It was kind of a push one because people often end up with heart attacks when they push snow, we would buy them at Canadian tire. That is a good store for us. Canadians. I really enjoy watching your videos and I wish you and your family a very blessed Christmas greetings from southwestern Ontario.
The snoskotta is available in Canada, we call them sleigh shovel, sleigh snow shovel or pusher scoops. Very good for moving large chunks of ice that gets put in driveways from road plows.
Sorry to hear that you were under the weather. I hope you are all feeling better soon. I loved seeing Ivars first time skating. He's such a delight 😊. Ignore those who judge and don't want to look at or hear about other ways of living. I don't get it. Just wondering if you might consider a topic of discussion called " thinking outside the box". Sometimes I think people need to do that a little bit more 😊. Love to you all❤️
We really appreciated your butchering video! You have plenty of warning! Too many people think their food comes from the grocery store. It’s awful how out of touch we have become with our food.
I'm more into birthing videos, so gave the last two ones a miss ... Incredible, how you manage to live on 15 sqm, phew, not easy at all, despite you being outdoors a lot. Concerning iceskating: my two daughters learned it quite quickly by holding on to a small wooden chair (like an old primary school chair) and that worked brilliantly and relieved me on having to bend down and hold a squiggly sliding toddler 🤣🤩 and a chair does not slip away, it works really well. Good luck, skating on this huge lake looked like a lot of fun 🙂
Some people are hypocrites, they think their meat comes from thin air; they don't want to see blood and butchering, but they eat animals without any problem. @@jacquietremain5743yes indeed, very nice just let the child be with you. That is so rare

I don’t watch butchery videos and appreciate the heads up. There is value in showing those who want to learn how to butcher correctly.
I used to find it difficult years ago, but I find it quite fascinating and informative now. It really brings home just how detatched we all are from real life and our food. I believe that Ivar stole the show on this one! He will be running the place by next year! Thank you for all of your videos. Your a wonderful family.
❤
Learning how to process food for ourselves to consume and nourish our bodies is definitely appropriate.
The community you’ve attracted is a reflection of who you are as people. Your videos have brought me so much peace and joy over the past 5+ years, and I’m grateful to share these glimpses into your lives. Good Yule and a good New Year!
I support your videos completely, life and death are with us always. Yes, steer is the correct term. Great work, God bless you all.

Very true. It’s the same in Australia unfortunately.
We now have to many snowflakes who complain about anything.
Good to catch up with the three of you again. Ivar has grown so quickly. Take care to recover well.
We had those kind of snow tools growing up in the 50’s in Maine. We called them snow scoops.
Still sell them at the supermarket in Maine.
Oh, well there ya go 👌
I enjoyed watching the butchering. always wondered how it was done\ thank you.
From baby to big boy.... what a joy! 💖 0:14 makes a great still photo.
Merry Christmas! I love all of the beautiful snow! What a winter wonderland!
I'm going to rewatch the tomten video you made. It's my Christmas tradition now

Thank you for posting and sharing. I hope you all have health happiness and harmony.
Sandy Brock a YT sheep farmer has to use a sepia filter when showing blood during lambing and it has worked well for her. Just a thought.
A very enjoyable quiet day in you lives. Thank you for the skating clips from the past and the fun watching Dad teach son to skate in the present.

Ace hardware has poly sleigh shovel called Garant 24in. W x A61in😊
I lived in a small town before.
I'm looking forward to more of your "provocative " questions.🙂
Also, I'm sorry you lost the monetization on your videos. I did not see them as offensive at all.
Yeah, we have that kind of shovel in Canada, too. Nothing new. Not just in Sweden. We've had them for decades and decades.
Very nice idea this live video...👌💖🎄💫
ps... When my nose is clogged, I put hot water in a bowl or pan, add some drops of eucalyptus/Ravintsara HE, put a towel over my head and my head over this bowl, inhaling ... clearing guarantied!👌🤧
Now that I see that your lake has deep ice, you could have your freezer, old time style: a whole in the ground, one part with blocs of ice mixed with sawdust and a metal container surrounded by those ice where you put your food to freeze... keeps long underground because everything is frozen and the ice melts slowly in spring (sawdust)... Hunting/fishing game owner was my cousin!
Here we can see how far many people have gone from the nature and natural prosesses of having meat as food. It just "appears" to the supermarkets! I appreciate your way of life and showing truthfully and nicely the realities of lovely Life ❤️
May the love and light shine on your family. I send warm tidings from across the world. From my family to yours. Merry Christmas. 🎄
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, ❤️ THANK YOU FOR SHARING. You are doing everything right and have a awesome family.
You are the sweetest family! What a lovely video.
Good evening Beautifullllll family from Newfoundland 🇨🇦 Canada🎼❤️
Ahh, also here, Alberta Canada I have an herb, mullein tea,, cough goes away! But in some cases it’s a good thing to cough as your body cleans and purges to heal.. much love to your family

Härligt att se på er, hur ni lever ett naturligt liv ute i skogen. Och Ivar har en jättefin uppväxt utan en massa onödiga restriktioner. Ha det bra! Hälsningar från Tyskland och kiva att höra finlandssvenska 😊
In Canada we call it a snow scoop.
I just love your family time together. You film your life so well. Teaching Ivar from the beginning to know butchering is so smart. He will be able to feed his family always. God bless and keep your family. 🎄🌲
Continuez comme cela et merci pour vos vidéos 😊 Vous êtes une très belle famille !
Can find the snow thingy in Russia too, anywhere where there’s lots of snow. It is very good ❤ there is no word in English because there is no snow here 😂
Father and son relationship is so beautiful. As a mother I have this in my family and it’s the best thing to watch
you are a sweet family who work hard on an off-grid farm. I wish where I live to be off-grid.. working towards that reality. You are a great inspiration. sending love from my farm on the Big Island of Hawaii
I remember that video of Ivar's birth ... look at him now, shovelling snow!! Season's greetings guys!😊❤😊
its lovely watching Ivar growing up
Bountiful blessings and much love to all of you!
Happy holidays to you all!
I have the same cold, cough sneeze, etc, in Washinton State. So pleasant to enjoy this lovely video in the setting of the day.
Merry Christmas Mom Dad and Ivar .. Have Beautiful Memories you are a Beautiful Family ❤❤❤
Beautiful family 🙏
Ivor Is such a cutie! I live on the Canadian Prairies (lots of snow) We use the same snow removal tools, we call the big one a snow scoop and the smaller one a shovel. God Jul!
Enjoy your show. Love the snow. Beautiful family. The little one is growing fast.
9:39 snow scoop
Once people pull those out, the snow blower is right next.
I use an aluminum coal shovel. It’s between a snow shovel and a scoop.
Love to you all❤️
The Snow Sleigh 😊 translated to English is snow scoop , we use them in Canada too.
I remember watching the first video of Mathias ice skating ⛸️ with Ivar when he was first born. ❤❤❤
You both are wonderful parents to Ivar your son. Thanks for sharing. A really fun video. Merry Christmas to you and your families.
I live in Wisconsin, in the United States, and we use both of those snow removal items as well.
Love your family and this new video!! Sending love and a very merry Christmas from Arkansas!!
We really appreciated your butchering video! You have plenty of warning! Too many people think their food comes from the grocery store. It’s awful how out of touch we have become with our food.
Oh and we loved the birthing video too. We love all of your episodes! A beautiful journey!
And they call them sleigh snow shovels here in the United States
I'm more into birthing videos, so gave the last two ones a miss ...
Incredible, how you manage to live on 15 sqm, phew, not easy at all, despite you being outdoors a lot.
Concerning iceskating: my two daughters learned it quite quickly by holding on to a small wooden chair (like an old primary school chair) and that worked brilliantly and relieved me on having to bend down and hold a squiggly sliding toddler 🤣🤩 and a chair does not slip away, it works really well. Good luck, skating on this huge lake looked like a lot of fun 🙂
