The part where he says "I can't see you, will just continue" sums up just how difficult it must have been to spot an adversary who didn't want you to see him. Pretty damn scary to be sure. Terrific footage of these iconic planes..not to mention the concentration required of the pilots. Brilliant
Nice to see the hurricane the focus of attention in this video. The spitfire is a beautiful aircraft, is more graceful and performs better but the hurricane was the real defender and work horse over England during the summer of 1940 and got far more kills. Remember the few!
My father flew them both, and while he always admired the Spitfire for its performance abilities and looks he always said he preferred the Hawker overall as a workhorse. I must say he probably would not have cared for the swastika and the yellow markings.
Spitfire is a beautiful and powerful plane for the time, especially through its different versions. Need to remember that if a British plane should symbolize the British defence during the battle of Britain, that it should actually be the Hurricane! The workhorse at an important time, not the best plane in the world but a very outstanding turn fighter and tough as old boots. Great to see them both still running and being cared for with respect. My late Grandfather would have loved to have seen this.
Very nice close formation display by the both of you. I see Clive keeping an eye on the temperature ever so often what a brilliant display and respect to the both of you
c'est vraiment des moments très intense aussi bien le spit, et notre brave HURRICANE!!!!! un grand merci mes chers amis, rien ne vaut un moteur à hélice!!!!!
Passion, passione, Pathos, any word is too little... What a feeling! ( I can understand the madness of the pilot to fly with this machine ..! Look the fire in his eyes... Like a child ...). Thank you for this video!!!
Before WWII the Finnish Air Force used the Swastika as a symbol. At that point the symbol of course did not have the negative meaning that it got during the war. Back then it was used by Swedish count Eric von Rosen and it meant ‘good luck’. The same count donated a plane bearing the markings and so it ended up being used as the Air Force insignia between 1918 en 1945
I was a bit confused too at the beginning. But then I remembered the iconic cross markings (which ironically youtube uses when you try to escape from fullscreen, see the symbol in the bottom-right corner in fullscreen mode). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_aircraft_insignia www.486th.org/Aircraft/Markings/index.htm
Nice to see that some other countries still have airworthy Hurricanes. That grand old lady deserves better treatment and recognition than she has been given.
Thanks for a great video :-) came across it by chance and enjoyed every second! One of the best I've seen, with a great view of the pilot, it felt like I was in there too!
If I have a single wish, it's to fly a Hurricane. Not going to happen sadly. Cessna are buses. I gave up on my PPL because it was so boring. I love the Hurri with a passion. And She has lasted longer than my wives ;)
Absolutely superlative, a wonderful look into a pilots workload in that time period. A beautifully constructed and presented video, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for the video. Simply a treat to see this. Two of my three favourite aircraft of all time. Beautiful cockpit vision and thrilling flight video. Thank you
I'm wondering what kind of mask he's wearing over his mic. I'm looking for something similar for my open cockpit flying. And that Spitfire taking off open canopy...amazing!
Surround sound cranked up to window rattling volume and...... Whoaaaaaaaaa! Superb! Brilliant watching the concentration levels required by both pilots, and they weren't even in a combat situation. A real "snap shot" into the world of the fighter pilot. Great work guys.
Beautiful Suomi Hurricane! Listen to that engine purr. Scourge of the Red Air Force and Army...that pilot is fighting GLOC pretty well tightening his core. There is no G-suit in that baby! Amazing cockpit footage...
One desperately wants to become a WW2 fighter pilot after watching this video. Although - of course - the deadly reality back then perhaps wasn't that glamorous.
Hi, When I first saw the Hurricane with Nazi markings it was very strange but the Finnish Air Force Swastika had nothing to do with the Nazi Swastika. The Finns used the Swastika long before the Nazi's did. The Finns took their Swastika from the coat of arms of a great 17th century and was initially a personal good luck emblem of a Swedish count, Erik Von Rosen and is dark blue. I bet they stopped using soon after the Nazi took over!
Wunderbar.. The Hurc could also of been captured in 1940 France or the Desert with Rommel. The Griffin powerd Spit with its Qaud 20mm Hispano Cannon was fierce ! A top self video..
Though the Spitfire is hailed and loved, The Hurricane is somewhat more attractive to me, and often forgotten, the hurricane had a hughe impact on the outcome of WW2,..and took many battlescores before the spitfire was properly intoduced in numbers,...so nice to see Clive and the Hurricane flying,..though it feels odd to see the swastica on the hurricane,....Really like Clive´s faceexpression,...he is like a child ina candyshop,..he love flying the hurricane, and he really emitting so much joy,... Nice side by side flying,...Love it LOL Peace
Unfortunately the leather cap meant that pilots who should have survived crash landings often died from head injuries. The hard bone dome had not come into usage but would have saved a lot of lives had it been available and mandatory.
+Anthony Gennello Thanks for you review! You will find quite allot of video on TeamM's aviation DVD "Göteborg Aeroshow 2008". I can really recommend it to any aviation enthusiasts in the world! You will find it in TeamM's web shop at teamm.hemsida24.se/store/p/web-shop-(english)!-119685/g%C3%B6teborg-aero-show-2008-dvd!-144013 Take care. /Tille, TeamM
This is FINISH markings NOT German. Was a little surprised to see the pilots quite long "Head stuck in the instruments (from 13:53 to 14:21) for a minimum of 27 seconds; that's quite a long time if there should be any hazard appearing near your frontal quarter/area. But today there is a lot to keep your eye on in such a classic & complex A/C with modern avionics & flight regulations. Lovely to see & nice to see a Hurricane in a different colour scheme .... even if it seems to create a little confusion!
He's hav'n a ball at 11:50, isn't he? I would be too! What a thrill! I consider myself extremely lucky to have had a tiny fraction of something to do with some hands-on help in the restoration to flight status of Hurricane 5667, Canadian Car and Foundry built in 1943. Owner Neal Rose restored the Hurribus and displayed it in the Pearson Air Museum in 1996, where I was responsible for it as the Operations manager. I got to know the airplane from the inside out later in the restoration process. I'm privileged to count the pilot Bob "Hurri" Irvine who flew Fantoms as well, as a friend. I would have flown it too, if he'd let me!!! peace-out..Tc
Yes, the Finnish Air Force did carry swastica markings. But I believe that the swastica was in the colour of the cross on the Finnish flag, not as pictured on this aircraft.
@@alasdairblack393 The original versions. Later models of the spitfire had the Griffon, but some people say that it was so different on several counts that it should have had a different name
I have read that even though the Spitfire gets most of the glory during the battle of Britain, it was the Hawker Hurricane that did most of the dirty work. I guess its hard to love an ugly warrior.
It's interesting, because I have always preferred the Hurricane over the Spit. I also think the Hurricane is a very good looking aircraft in her own right.
Justin Lee I completely agree, the Hurricane is a nice looking machine, but I think the eyes of the average person would gravitate towards the aesthetics of the spitfire.
Monster's Inc. And the Hurricane withstood much more punishment than the spit and could be back in combat in a fraction of the time than a spit with like for like damage, also they were adapted to many functions all through the war .. but the spit was just used solely as a fighter , I remember the late Tom Neil saying that for a plane to fly in give me the spitfire, ...but for a plane to fight in give me the Hurricane .
The Spitfire remained a front line fighter for the entire second world war as it had development potential. By 1943 the Hurricane was being phased out as it could not be developed further. I flew as a passenger very occasionally with a pilot who had 28 kills in a Hurricane. My father in law's business partner flew Hurricanes in North Africa.
Every time I watch one of these kinds of videos i always have to go and watch some of the highlights from "The Final Countdown", especially the scenes when the A6M zeros get taken out by the Tomcats.. cruel I know but fun to watch.
Ang galing naman po ng RAF, hanggang ngayon buhay na buhay ang Spitfire, panahon pa ng giyera, Hindi po ako sipsip, pero RAF, pinakamagaling, walang duda
I wonder in the War if the Finns with their Hurricanes ever encountered the Russians with theirs! That could be rather confusing I'd say. Anyone know if that ever happened? This was very nicely filmed and edited. Thanks.
Back in those days fighter pilots were 18-20 years old. We even had 18 and 19 year olds piloting b-25's and B-17's. Nowadays you need so much school to even be in a pilots category unless you get your private pilots license which is different.
Thank you so much for not adding music to this and letting those amazing engines speak for themselves!
what do you mean there is music in this clip, those merlins are the music
The part where he says "I can't see you, will just continue" sums up just how difficult it must have been to spot an adversary who didn't want you to see him. Pretty damn scary to be sure. Terrific footage of these iconic planes..not to mention the concentration required of the pilots. Brilliant
The Spitfire is such a gorgeous piece of machinery. The Hurricane with Swastika/yellow stripes looks pretty damn cool. Great video, thanks!
Finnish markings I believe.
So glad to see the newly restored Hurry with Finnish markings and a truly bad ass Spit to go with it... BRAVO
The formation flying was spectacular. The skill of both pilots was inspiring.
I am Swedish, and i live in Sweden i bought my Spit MK 9 in the 60´s.
Nice to see the hurricane the focus of attention in this video. The spitfire is a beautiful aircraft, is more graceful and performs better but the hurricane was the real defender and work horse over England during the summer of 1940 and got far more kills. Remember the few!
Also is was way easier to repair and get back into the sky than the spitfire
TheMojophotos A tough old bird , took much more punishment than a spit !
My father flew them both, and while he always admired the Spitfire for its performance abilities and looks he always said he preferred the Hawker overall as a workhorse. I must say he probably would not have cared for the swastika and the yellow markings.
Thank God for men like your father
Thats because there were loads more Hurricanes than Spitfires in summer 1940.
Lovely film. Thanks for posting. You don't see many Hurricanes with Finnish markings. Finnish pilots did an amazing job against huge odds.
Great video..
Note from an old mechanic: The hurricane's left tyre needs pressure.
Oil needs topping up as well !
I've watched this again and that Hurricane is really moving on out. A very fantastic ship indeed What a great show guys, again, thank you so much.
Craig Pennington Craig, I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

Wonderful aircraft, wonderful flying, wonderful film.
Very nice close formation display by the both of you. I see Clive keeping an eye on the temperature ever so often what a brilliant display and respect to the both of you
Amazing video. I felt the Gs just watching the skilled Hurricane pilot do the climbs. Bravo.
c'est vraiment des moments très intense aussi bien le spit, et notre brave HURRICANE!!!!! un grand merci mes chers amis, rien ne vaut un moteur à hélice!!!!!
Brilliant video. So nice to see these iconic aircraft still flying and being flown with great enthusiasm. Wonderful!
Superb aircraft and pilots. Thanks for maintaining and preserving these iconic pieces of aviation and military history.
thanks to go pro and those that own them not to mention you guys for flying the planes and sharing this with me...Many thanks
Passion, passione, Pathos, any word is too little... What a feeling! ( I can understand the madness of the pilot to fly with this machine ..! Look the fire in his eyes... Like a child ...). Thank you for this video!!!
Lovely footage, thank you. Interesting scheme on that beautiful Hurricane also. I didn't realise there was one flying like that.
The concentration and competence of these pilots is a joy to watch.
Please, read the discription, regarding the "swastica"!

I knew about the Finnish AF having the Swastika; I didn't know they got any Hurri's in the Winter war, tho. Must've been a shock for the I-16's!

Really enjoyed watching that! Great camera angles, gives the feel of flying fast. Well done guys!
Thanks Anthony, appreciate your comment!

Wonderful! I have not ever seen such a video. Nothing short of fantastic. Thanks for showing it.
Greetings from Portland, Oregon....woah...that is awesome you have a hurri in ol' Finland's markings. Way so cool!
john wayne we don't talk like that in America
One desperately wants to become a WW2 fighter pilot after watching this video. Although - of course - the deadly reality back then perhaps wasn't that glamorous.
There are ten famous worbirds from the WW II ... those two are on the top...
Thanks Tille.

really bro they communicate trough hand signals ??? amazing....so silent and connected
Well you learn something every day! I was not aware of the Finnish use of the swastika, thanks for the video.
Yeah, same but id rather not use that insignia in my plane during ww2!
Thank you for a nice inflight experience! Great video.
I wouldn't want to fly one of those old planes without a leather safety cap. :)
Those WW2 pilots were REAL men back then.
They seem to be real men even now!
They still are real men
Boys, some with skill, it's all about skill.
Unfortunately the leather cap meant that pilots who should have survived crash landings often died from head injuries. The hard bone dome had not come into usage but would have saved a lot of lives had it been available and mandatory.
Loved these two wonderful aircraft, just threw me off a bit seeing the Hurricane in Luftwaffe markings!
They are not Luftwaffe markings!
Needs a million more views. Great stuff
i like!! historical markings in hawker haurricane finsh air force . perfect
The ole boy was having quite a time! Definitely in his element!
Ahh the mighty Hurricane! We will forever owe her respect and the men & women who flew her.
Fantastic!. Would like to see more of the Spitfire though.

Nice work Clive with the Hurricane!
Cracking footage and beautifully filmed!
Yes, the Finnish Air Force did carry swastica markings. But I believe that the swastica was in the colour of the cross on the Finnish flag, not as pictured on this aircraft.
The swastika is blue as is the cross in the Finnish flag, sincerely, a Finn.
Great video, thank you for uploading.
Beautiful! Video very well done! Thank you
Spitfire...the most gorgeous plane ever!!!
spijkie1969 Na Hurricane every time !
가슴 졸이게하는 멋있는 낭만적 비행 모습들...훌륭합니다 !
Can’t tell just by looking. These machines had the same engine. How much difference was there in their performance? They look about the same
Not the same, similar Merlin and Griffon.
@@alasdairblack393 The original versions. Later models of the spitfire had the Griffon, but some people say that it was so different on several counts that it should have had a different name
Love the sound of the engines !
the hurricane pilot looks like someone you'd see flying in the luftwaffe
that was a awesome video I love those old world war two planes. great job guys.
Thanks Garlin! Much appreciated comment! :-)
Such beautiful planes, I would love to own one, one day.
The Hurricane looks weird in the Finish Colours. Makes it's humped back even more pronounced.

Hurricane, a beautiful plane that was the workhorse in the Battle Of Britain.
His head (Hurricane pilot) is in the cockpit a lot.Just a walk in the park for these guys. Type in: An alternate look @ WW1 & WW2. enjoy
Forgive my ignorance as well, but what does the jason mask do for this pilot?
I think that if the Hurricane pilot had bullets, we'd have a real show going on. Hurricane's sounding mean. Great video guys. What a show.
Brilliant nice piece
Thanks for you comment IDP Films! I see you're in the business as well! Where are you located? /Tille, TeamM
Hello, Two-point landing is easier and safer than three- points landing ? Can you explain it ?
The wings need a rebuild, but the engine is renovated, including the two-stage compressor.Oh i´ve upgraded the ignition system.
Very nice, really enjoyed that, thank you very much
Ang galing naman po ng RAF, hanggang ngayon buhay na buhay ang Spitfire, panahon pa ng giyera, Hindi po ako sipsip, pero RAF, pinakamagaling, walang duda
i actually thought that the Hurricane was been captured by the germans and used against the brits... man if someone can be so wrong...
A hurricane was captured by the germans courtesy of a traitor
Red Pilot But that did happen , and the other way round !
le riprese sono bellissime davvero
Just totally amazing, superb and brilliant!
Amazing video. I only wish my Dad were alive to see it.
Sir, that was one of the most beautiful comments I have ever read on my channel. My heart is with you. ❤
I wonder in the War if the Finns with their Hurricanes ever encountered the Russians with theirs! That could be rather confusing I'd say. Anyone know if that ever happened? This was very nicely filmed and edited. Thanks.
Looks like a Spitfire XVI with the E wing and a Hurricane II.
Uauuu very good flight. Marcio from Brazil
What an absolute joy.

Magnifique, que du bonheur!
nice to see finnish markings on hurricane !
I think the Spitfire must put throttle quite down for formation with Hurricane.
Fantastic!
I love how animated the hurc pilots face is 😂
Skip to 15:52 for the best bits
also they guy flying isn't in the spitfire
Although I understand that these are Finnish Air Force markings I did not realise that the Finnish Air Force had acquired hurricanes before the war
Absolutely amazing
That's some fancy flying 👌
