There is so much not discussed here for the GM to dive into. All of these factions have at least one hook, a list of NPCs, and further details as to equipment and personnel. So many jumping off or intersecting points for future games and scoundrels. Also here are the music tracks in order of appearance. All of these tracks can be found in the youtube audio library. I wanted to try a Blades in the Dark oneshot in the Spelljammer setting and it became a two year long campaign. Edit: In a ruined world orbiting a dying star. A group of scoundrels want to get off before the lights go out.
I *LOVE* this game! Dude I ran blades for several years with my group. Freaking love this game to death omg. We homebrewed it to hell and back. Each and every Saturday for like two years! Man I saw the blades thumbnail and just had to pop in to say something. Thanks for spreading the good word. :)
This was really good and has reignited my interested in Blades in the Dark. John Harper released an expansion to Blades in the Dark called Deep Cuts recently and Duskwall has just taken over my life. *Shoves Lancer out of the way* Really hope to see more Blades in the Dark content from you Zak :3
I wish my old dm used more of these games, I met the sisters, and I did love all the original stuff, but our gang was The Nine lives we were master thieves, my guy despite being descended from the demon blooded people and looking like a rat he was an ex-blue coat who investigated corrupt cops, got them arrested, but also lost his own job, and joined the nine lives. While I did get to woo a lady in high society and start courting her, use my reputation to start a taxi agency to use as a resource for our gang, we didn't really get to interact with the other gangs too much and I think there was a lot of opportunities with the plot we got building
There are so many different ways to tangle these plot hooks together. You phase a group in with the gang wars, then, tunnel them into intrigue with the Hive, and then have them go to a place they should NOT be and see something they should NOT have seen, like Lord Scurlock walking out of the Dimmer Sisters estate, or the Silver Nails dying while attempting to secure a mysterious box covered with arcane runes that is ticking rhythmically... and it sounds like the ticking is speeding up ever so slowly. ❤
Considering one of Skurloc's enemies is _THE IMMORTAL EMPEROR_ he's quite clearly supposed to be a final boss. Other powers may play that role if you get on their bad side, but more likely they'll seek to nudge you towards Skurloc for their own curiosity.
The Dimmer Sisters are a favorite of mine, even as i honebrew more and more factions to add in, because of just how weird and secretive they are. I've tried doing all kinds of things with them, once I had them constant shifting between ages as the players looked away from them as some kind of weird ghost field time dialtion. I also like to give them titually-alteted black cats as an answer to the deathseeker crows.
I like Blades in the Dark, but I also love their science fiction version: Scum and Villainy. I've run several games of it, and the mix of high tech and middle fantasy makes for some hysterical moments. Justice for Space Steve Irwin! Him surviving the eradication of Base Camp One doesn't mean he's guilty! XD
funny thing, the one itme we played this with my mates, our game master mixed The Lost with the Gray Cloaks so we though they where just corrupt and trigger happy bunch of cops like the pinkertons or something so my character who used to be a journalist started spreading the rumour of an iruvian cult of demon worshippers plannig to stablish themselves in the city, we created a massive bomb on a sealed iron box, they took it to their lair and we ended up blowing like 4 blocks. we had to be on our best behaviours and set up ourselves as a "small independant newspaper" and "private detective bussiness" for the next 4 levels

The Grinders are the favorite of the bunch. Just for how out of left field their motivations are. Thanks for the video.
I wanted to try a Blades in the Dark oneshot in the Spelljammer setting and it became a two year long campaign.
Edit:
In a ruined world orbiting a dying star.
A group of scoundrels want to get off before the lights go out.
That sounds incredible - please elaborate further. How did you integrate the setting and system?
Yeah I need more details this could be how I get my friends into BitD
It's such a bad game for a oneshot... but just because it's so good it's nearly impossible not to turn it into a full blown campaign lol
@Zer0Dakilla In a ruined world orbiting a dying star.

You can really see an improvement in the animation of your videos

I am so happy you covered this game! I love your videos! I would love to see you cover When the Moon Hangs Low! It’s inspired by this and Bloodborne!
Man I miss the manic energy to run rpgs.
Great video!
Not Orphans in the streets with knives! Thanks, I needed some new Nightmare fuel! 🤣 The TTRPG that’s oops all Nightmares!

5:22 Even in an RPG video, I can't fucking escape DBD 🤣
If you ever need more inspirations on the gangs, I'll suggest the tv serie Warrior.
This video makes me both happy and sad, because of my Blades campaign in pause ^^' p.s. Will we ever see an actual play from you?
17:52 this is a bucket
This sounds rad. Why have I heard nothing about it?
