This classic and legendary presentation goes out to Soul II Soul's musical, dance, art, knowledge and fashion posse around the world! 13 Ra-spect to Baba Jazzie B., the Funki Dreds and their mega-sound system known internationally for the wicked riddim and crucial vibe.
May the people of world always have a happy face, a thumpin' bass, for a lovin' race....peace.
Soul II Soul are an English Neo-Soul / R&B / Jazz musical group, formed in London in 1988. They are best known for their 1989 UK chart-topper and US Top 5 hit, "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)," as well as their world chart topper "Keep On Moving." They have been nominated for five Brit Awards - twice for Best British Group, to include many top honors in the US and around the globe.
The group initially attracted attention as a sound system, playing records at house and street parties (where their clothing style, dubbed "Funki Dred", started a line of clothing). Founded by Jazzie B and featuring a changing roster of other musicians - notably Nellee Hooper, Simon Law, Phillip 'Daddae' Harvey and Caron Wheeler - Soul II Soul's experiments in music-making of their own resulted in the dub plate "Fairplay," which secured them a recording contract with Virgin Records. Man they knew how to put on a show
I think I read somewhere that sadly Lamya is no longer with us. There is another singer who also passed away a few years back. Through this music, they achieve immortality.
Masimba Musodza Doreen also died. She was struck by a car while crossing a highway.
Tragic. "Feel Free" did not get a lot of airplay in Zimbabwe, but it was a pleasure to discover it on the album.
Lamya
smooth nubian k
Who are you?? I promise we hear from the same God. My quote " How do I live forever, I asked myself. 'HE' answered, You LIVE ON through the hearts and lives you touched. Correction is Affected!

awesome, thanx so much!
I just love the instrumentals and dance moves of African Dance at minute 4:45 onwards
I remember when this came on satellite tv, or was it cable? 🤣
This doesn't appear to be available on dvd here in the states.
Great concert! I remember Kym Mazelle from former James Brown sideman Maceo Parker's "Live on Planet Groove" CD. She has traveled all over the United Kingdom and Europe as a pioneer of House Music - a phenomenal feat considering she started life down the street from The Jackson family in Gary, Indiana. The group is in fine form and the only thing that can top this is another concert by this same group, which is what brought me to this page in the first place! For more on Kym Mazelle,, she is listed on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kym_Mazelle
They make me feel good
anyone know who the singer is with the long blond hair at 17:40?
Lamya Al-Mugheiry - aka Lamya
milli vanilli screwed these guys by stealing their best new artist grammy. tvone needs to do an unsung episode on them...ole skool rnb 4eva.
+Leroy Brown you must have been reading my mind. They also need to do an Unsung on Loose Ends
amen...loose ends is my favorite band ever...euro soul is WAY better than our watered down versions!
Ok, this is good but not current, is it?
There music is timeless, so much better than that stuff we here today, thank you soul to soul.
