I've watched several joining videos and this is by far the simplest and explained the fullest. So, thank you for that. I learned how to crochet a couple of years ago by watching one of your scarf videos and have loved it ever since.
I love how i found this after I sewed them together…
Can’t wait to use it when I redo my cardigan😭👍
I have been watching lots of videos on how to join granny squares. This is the best one yet. It will be my go to method to join those squares. Thank you for an easy and well presented video.
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve tried several videos on how to crochet and it’s SO HARD. I’m currently trying to make a quilt with the granny squares that my great grandma made before she passed away. I miss her.❤
i am so sorry for your loss ❤
Thank you for this tutorial! It has been the simplest and most understandable explanation of how to join that I have seen this far as well as very clear to see in the video! Look forward to seeing another video with the same simplicity on how to join intersecting squares!
love this but also wanting to know how to tie in the ends please
I agree
Agree
I weave my ends in
Make a knot as close to the squares as possible,i do that
Just double knot to secure and weave in
as a beginner, thank you for making such detailed instructions and going slow so its easy to follow along ❤️
anyone else here making the harry cardigan?

yes lmao

Thank you so much. I’ve been trying to expand my knowledge for crochet techniques and this was such a clear and simple tutorial. Perfect 🤩 I do think the white on white was a little hard to see but it was still very visible bc of how you place your fingers. Again thank you for such a great video! ♥️
I followed this and it came out perfectly!! My frustration, though, is that there are never videos showing how to do more. The first two square I joined were absolutely seamless. I tried to add a third square to make a row and it looks absolutely horrendous and I did the exact same thing. Has anyone found a video where they add multiple squares? I have no clue what I’m doing wrong and I’ve been trying multiple times and it’s always when I try to add a square problems arise. Thank you!
Yes! Take a look at this video. It shows you how to join corners between 4 squares 😊 x

Thanks for putting this up! I needed something unobtrusive for my project, since I'm working on a pixel art blanket and it would look kind of weird if there was this obvious line where the squares join.
Speaking of which, I'm working up around FIVE HUNDRED squares for that blanket. They're small and quick, thank god, but I'll still be working on it for a while yet. Almost done with the third-to-last color! There's around two hundred of the last color...
Hi, it's been 4 years! How's your blanket?
Tks so much. You explained so well. Have been trying for so long to try this joining method and at last got the hang of it.
God Bless.
Just a tip. I really do appreciate all the effort it involves putting up a viedo. But I do have a request. It is really great learning this technique, but a lot of viedoes fall short on their lessons. I am a very visual person and need more of a complete picture. I love this join. It would be awesome if tutorials such as this could show like three squares across and three down showing how to do additional rows and those corners. It could even be smaller squares. I do love this join but I get stuck on the rest of it. Again I do understand the work and effort it takes and I admire how there are those who can take it from here, me not so much, heck I get lost in a paper bag. I have to pack a suitcase just to go to the store in case I get turned around and lost lol. Hugs
Oh thank goodness its bot just me. I found this video the best to follow but also found other videos do exactly the same. They need to cover the issues of adding extra squares.
Same like how do you end this...
Aw I just want to say that you asked this question in the most lovely way 🥰 that sounds a bit weird ahaha, but instead of just demanding them to make a video or something you just asked in a really lovely, polite way. You seem like a really kind person. Hope you have a great day and are doing well 💕💕
@@emilyolivia5737 thank you. I am a Christian and love teaching Gods word.
And how do you tie off ends so it doesn’t come apart?
I have used this method decades ago. I also sew the front loops together. Makes it stronger. It takes longer but kids are hard on crocheted blankets. Especially if you make them from baby yarn. I enjoy watching the videos on how to do things. But I'm one of those that will watch take the idea and then adjust it to what I need. I like to reinforce the corner joinings. Would be impossible to explain. But when you get there figure it out. That's what is the most fun.
I LOVE THESE SQUARES! I think I've just realized how I will make a gift blanket in Florida Gators colors.
I just tried this and it is actually very easy if you just join all the squares of one row all across your project and then cross that line with another seperate stitching. I Hope that is helpful
@@shannonr8977 uhm.. I am not a native speaker maybe that's the problem.. I mean if you have your squares and you put them on your table in the order you want them to be sewn together just begin the seam between the first to squares to join only one side of the two squares with the other one and then go all the way to the other edge of the project in a straight line with your seam and always join two squares together (each on only one side of the square) by doing so. and when you are finished with all the seams that go for example from top to bottom THEN you go from left to right all the way across in a straight line. And by doing that you will have to go across the previous seams that went top to bottom in a 90 degree angle I hope you understand 😂 so long
How do you secure each end of this seam?
😭😭😭I wanna know toooooooo
@@thatgirlwithadimple i must know
I cut both ends so I'm left with two strands on each side. I tied both strings together to create a square knot. Hope this helps! :)
I love this method of joining the best because it is so neat and makes for a beautiful finish.
Ah, of course, a yarn needle! Why didn't I think of that! After all these years of crocheting, it should've been obvious to me. 🙄😒 Thank you for sharing this.
💙💙
Looks good to me. Nice and flat. My project has multiple random colors so this will be great. I can use any color/s to sew and I'm freaking tired of whipstitching. Thank you for this tutorial.
6 years later & your videos are still reaching & helping people 🫶
Great tutorial. Just the right amount of explanation. I have seen other videos on the invisible joining of granny squares that were a bit more complicated. This one is much simpler and looks great when finished.
Hi was going to ask how you deal with loser yarn ends on each corner & how you do the corners as well as adding rows etc. But I can see buy other commenters non of the questions we're answered. What a shame, needed help..whaa whaa🤷♀️
I love this seam. Its so easy and fast. Thank you so much❤
This is a nice video example of a great invisible join. Unfortunately it is incomplete. Rarely do we only join two squares.... It would be nice to see this video showing how to do this joining method with four squares so that we would get a more complete picture of how the join is completed. I see that the question has been asked numerous times yet never answered. I can only wonder what the message is here.....
isn’t it the same thing for all of them??
@@laradoria8036 No. Sometimes the sides don't have loops that you can easily seam together, like if you did a rib stitch pattern.
New to crochet myself...just came across this tutorial
ua-cam.com/video/QErlDaH1tkk/v-deo.html,
Try and see if if it is of help.
If it is doable and won't affect the size and look of your work you could consider doing single crochet all the way round. There is additional work involved though.
Thank you , I’m making a crocheted purse with granny squares and this looks so nice and tailored . It’s to me a lighter stitching . I’ve tried single crochet around and it to bulky.
Not this will give a beautiful connection 🌸🌸💕💕
Best invisible join I have seen. Better than invisible "whip" stitch !!!
This is awesome! Thank you so much. Would sure enjoy you connecting a few squares and maybe a row!
Great tutorial. I only wish that you could show the wrong side afterwards. I wanted to see what that side looked like.
Ty for this technique on the invisible seam for granny squares 👍😃
Wow thank you so much . I am so tired of knitting for a long time to get the squares
Great tutorial! wanted to put squares together neatly and now I can finish my project Thanks!
Newbie here. Please let us know what to do with the ends of the strings. I would like the proper way instructions on what to do. Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing your skill. You video was very easy to follow and your explanation was very clear!
What a great tutorial. Thank you
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question: after you join the first 2 squares, do you cut the yarn, secure, and then start joining a new square, or do you keep on joining a new square with the same yarn
I assume either would work but I’m not a 100 % sure. Also, this probably won’t be helpful considering you commented this 4 years ago
@@rileyhan3009 Lmao thanks
@@rileyhan3009 I know you commented almost a year ago but it’s still relevant lol
im wondering the same
Since this comment was 5 years ago, wanted to ask what did you do? Did you join and proceed or proceeded anyway?
Love it! Thank you Brittney🤩
Thank you, such a simple great video. Straight to the point.
Thank you for this! I get my squares even but I was crocheting them together and it just isn't as pretty as this. Sewing them is much neater!
Love it, how do you join squares and connect to the three sides and corders
Thank you so much for sharing all your lovely tutorials with us 👏👏👏👏👏👏💐💐💐😃😃😃👍👍👍
Brilliant technique and so simple! Many thanks 🙏
You explain everything so clearly, thank you for a very well done tutorial! Wish I'd seen this before I started joining my squares.
Instead of sewing, could I do a slip stitch on the same back ends? Thanks for sharing your crochet talent with your viewers.
Exactly what I’m looking for 👍👍👍👍😊😊
Love your channel. As a teacher, I really appreciate your excellent tutorials, thank you!
Wow this was super easy to understand!! Thank you for the video♡♡
Do you have a video with this granny square !????
Thanks for posting! Just what I needed!
I'm going to use this technique to join a bunch of knitted squares. I've been working on a blanket for the past 6 months.
I'm going to assume knitting also has right/wrong sides, even tho all my squares are in garter stitch.😅
Thank you for making easy for me
Wow your ring is huge 😁😁😁👍👍👍
This is a great video
Thank you
When doing it the second time you use the back loop of the white then the front loop of the grey
Awesome! Thanks 🙏🏻
Thank you so much. You're saved my life 🥰
Nice and easy join thanks for sharing ☺ 👍 💜
Thank you! I'm learning alot from your videos!!
i somehow made it work with a crochet hook since I don't have a needle, thanks
wah!! This is what I've been looking for!!! thank you so much!!!
I think for my first granny square afgan I will try this method of joining my squares.
FYI it’s only invisible on the right side. The join stitch will show on the back.
Good method but what do you do with your ends, sew or weave them in?
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm a beginner crocheter and am joining together my first project!!
Very helpful! thank you
Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you 💖
Me a encantado tu video, justo lo que estaba buscando, ojala pongas la traduccion de tus videos, algunas coss las entiendo otras no, saludos desde mexico
for a bunch of squares, say for a blanket, would it be best to join two, then move up to the next two and so on until the top of the blanket? Or would it be best to do an entire row like this then join the rows?
This is awesome but could you keep going and start joining more together and then the rows? I don’t understand what to do with the ends
Everytime you say “my name is Brittany” I’m like..that’s my name..that’s my name. lol (benchwarmers reference)
Thank you soooo much. This has been a huge help
Thank You 😊
Hi great vid but i have a question. What about the end of the yarn? Do you just leave it likke that?
I love how it’s not showing * thanks for sharing
Interesting and informative thank you very much
Like your stitch. My granny taught me this join 😌 but ... I was 9 or 10 +- 40 years ago . So ... I can't remember how to secure these ends 😪 😅 😂
It's a great stitch to have in your "back pocket" 😄
@@bhookedcrochet can you please show how to secure the ends after stitching the squares and cutting the string?
Would be nice to see how it looks on the back.
Like this method but wish you would show how to finish off the tails.
Question, I just tried this and it came out great. But my question is: If you are putting together an Afghan with lots of blocks, do you end at each block and start again for second block and so on so you always have the two strings to pull at end of granny square?
What is this type of granny square called?
Thank you so much!!! This is what I've been looking for!!!
This is a good video but the fact thatmost videos i find dont really tell you how to go on after joining two squares obviously were just going to join two squares all the time and they also dont tell how to secure it
Thanks so much for this! However I have a question: I used this technique for my whole blanket but overtime because I guess the blanket is pretty heavy, it the seams started opening up again... I weaved them in as best as i could, so I don't know what i did wrong :( Please help!!!
Great tutorial! Thank you for sharing♥
Please please can you make a video to show us how to crochet this two colour square
Please please
These tutorials never show the back side of the work. I tried this join. It’s only invisible on one side. I’m joining different colors. I need something that is reversible. It has to exist. Sigh
Did you find it? If not I did. Also thank you for sharing that is only invisible on one side !
@@aslmad1 hi, would you mind to drop the link or anything on what did you find
Holy cow that’s so easy!
Thank you.
Beautiful! I Love it!
very nice
Crocheting HARRY STYLES cardigan (step by step)!! Is a more detailed description of something like this attaching more than 2 squares together
Great video!! Thank you!!!
my question is after ive joined in all the granny squares.. what do I do with the tails? If I weave them in, where do I weave them into?
How does the back side look? And how do you know which color you should use?
Just pick one of the base colors of your granny squares that you're joining, like the videographer picked. If you have a pink square and a green square the seam should be one of those colors.
Adorei, obrigada pelas dicas
Would have liked to see what the back looks like. Sounds like you would see the seam in the back
Am hoping this is the same stitch that Divyan Dayan was showing on her hobo jacket tutorial when joining squares, I couldn’t get it because the stitch was a little out of frame.
Can you do a video on how to make this pattern. I love it! I tried it myself but the accent color row isn't turning out and I think I'm missing something. Thanks!!!
Very easy to understand. Could u also do a video on how to block this when it's all done?? Thnks so much.
Although it's not demonstrated on this particular project, I have a helpful tutorial about blocking and the three different methods. You can find it here: www.bhookedcrochet.com/blockyourproject
You should block before joining. Much easier to block individual squares, and easier to join them as well.
How do I tie off when using the mattress stitch please?
