Oh man !! POINT OF ENTRY Is my favorite PREIST Release ,listen to it almost monthly and have been for yrs on end ,2nd S.F.V. - 3RD FIREPOWER -4TH D.O.T.F. -5TH B.S....
I saw the Point of Entry tour on July 28th, 1981, at the Orpheum in Boston - with Iron Maiden w/ Paul Di'Anno on the Killers tour backing them up. The "Solar Angels" opener is burned into my brain. That show was 4 days after the Van Halen Fair Warning tour show at Boston Garden that I saw. Summer 1981 was a magical time for rock.
I wish they'd bring that amazing song back live or maybe just to surprise (or annoy) some fans and have a bit of a laugh about it; why not do "Don't Go"...!
I saw both those shows in Chicago and 81 in the app. They opened up at solar angels wall with that fucking good unbelievable shit and Van Halen’s fair warning and the first album and the second album highway to Hell album.
Ralph Turning Circles imo is the BEST song off Point Of Entry... man I sure hope you keep your channel active I look forward to your news and opinions man it's a tough time for me personally but this shit keeps a smile kudos to you Ralph 🤘
K.K. is a strange bird. I think that cat is losing his mind. I recall watching a video of him years ago inside his mansion doing an interview after HE, happily retired from JP. Recently he says he was forced out and didn't want to leave. Which is it? Bottom line, You bailed/retired of your own free will. Yeah, it sucks they don't want you back, shit happens. K.K. burned all his bridges leading back to Priest a year or so ago when he got into a pissing match with Glen online. It's obvious from the beginning that Glen was the driving force behind their music. He took a major leap in his guitar playing abilities between PoE and SfV. He definitely put in the extra time and effort to advance as a guitar player. Hell, just listen to the guitar parts and his solos on the SVF album. In my book, Priest without Glen or Rob isn't JP.
I am a huge fan of Priest. I even like rocka rolla. What I love about priest as compared to a lot of other bands is that you can see the transformation from every album from rocka rolla all the way to pain killer which to me was the peak for them. My favorite band.
I dig Point of Entry. I bought it on cassette when it first came out. I own it on CD and have it on my iPod. It's commercial, sure. But there are some jams on that album. The Priest albums I put beneath Point of Entry are Turbo, Rocka Rolla, Jugulator, and Demolition. It's a toss-up between Turbo and Rocka Rolla for my least favorite Priest album.
Point of entry in awesome! Desert Plains, Solar Angels, Turning Circles....a couple of songs that are kinda whatever, but overall, it rocks! Hard to choose a favorite, I love every Priest album up to Defenders 🤘👍

Point Of Entry is a sleeper classic IMO. I remember when it first came out some of my friends thought it sucked (I guess they were expecting British Steel Part 2), I for one loved it right from the first listen. I was also fortunate to catch on this tour as well. And you’re right about Dessert Plains, I have played this for people who do even line Priest but they liked this song.
It certainly is, I seriously don't know why they think so indifferently about it when it has so many strong songs on it, had it been a big hit I'm sure they'd all said otherwise today. Who cares about a few clunkers or so-so tracks when there's sheer brilliance on it for the most part, how can five or maybe even six excellent songs out of ten possibly equal a bad album that's just pure nonsense. People get too hung up on it being commercial, yet all '80s Priest was super commercial they were always a very melodic metal band any way you slice it.
