I learn so much travelling along with you & Nicole. Interesting place. I'm a Dr Pepper fan myself & had no idea it was invented in Waco Texas. Thank goodness it's still available in Canada. Nice addition of by-gone days pic (10:39) when describing the beautiful bridge. The food looked DELISH! Once again Joe, thank you so much for doing these vids.
Wacky Waco Fact: When completed in 1911, the ALICO building (seen in some of your shots) was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River! It was the second skyscraper built in Texas and currently the oldest still standing. It was added to the National Register in 2012.
Really enjoyed learning about the old history of Waco. Fantastic bridge. We in the UK really only know of the city from the siege so nice to know there is much more to the place
My Dad used to refer to Waco as "wacko" TX. 😅 He was born in a tent, in a cedar break, on Onion Creek(south Austin). Cedar chopper, then a truck driver and eventually construction. We watched the sege in 93' in a Scott & White recover room. The did an exploratory to see if they could remove his lung tumor.
A great video. I’ve been to Waco a few times. Only fault I have is it’s just bigger and more populated than what I’m comfortable in. Keep traveling I’ll keep watching
I'm glad that you were able to show us some of Waco's highlights. It has been awhile since I have been up "north" in my home state. It's about a ten hour drive from where I am in South Texas. I hope (or hoped) you enjoy (or enjoyed) visiting South Texas. I can't wait to see your video. 😊
I really liked this video and let me tell you, you're one hell of a tipper. I'd be hella glad to have a couple like you two as customers if I was a waiter. Thank you for filming your lunch. It's content I enjoy the most with UA-camrs and I can't explain why, haha. I hope to see more in the future! Happy days to both of yeah! ✌️☺️
Nice to see the parts of Waco I missed when I visited on a very (very) hot day last year. I certainly could've used an ice cold Dr. Pepper! The thing I did see was Waco Mammoth National Monument, which is definitely worth a visit. The Dig Shelter there is quite impressive, somewhat reminiscent of the Quarry Hall at Dinosaur National Monument with exposed fossils poking out of the ground. See you next time in south Texas...happy trails!
A great video, and a very interesting town. The statues are very impressive ! The bridge is beautiful, it looks amazing for its age, and I love all the old pictures !! Some lovely buildings downtown ! Thank you, Joe and Nic, enjoyable and relaxing, as always !😊💚
Texas Ranger Museum is also there on the banks of the Brazos as well as Baylor U., historic in and of itself as the oldest university in the great state of Texas. Great video, thanks as always Joe & Nic!
Hello you two beautiful people. Whenever a new "video" comes up , I always watch it first above any of my other favorite interest's. I'm never disappointed. I always feel I'm in the car with a knowledge friend giving me a tour of your hometown. Cheers !
Joey im glad YOU brought up that Waco thang we ALL 👀 that on 📺 and that biker story played on CNN news many people forgotten about that even I did I'm NOT gonna lie. Please tell me YOU didn't try to eat your WHOLE sandwich as a sandwich Joey 😂 YOUR appetizers both looked GREAT . @Joe &Nic's Road Trip
WOW...that lunch was expensive ! Having the TV Show originate in Waco, hasn't always been the best for the community. It has gotten really expensive. Thank you for the tour 😁
I remember watching on the news the situation with "the Davidian campus" and all the stuff that happened there. I wondered what it looked like now. Glad to see that it has changed too. Thanks for sharing and you all have a great day and safe travels
Just a point of context; the Branch Davidians were not in Waco. They were located about 13 miles northeast of Waco. Their headquarters were in Mount Carmel, TX. The thing that you have to remember; is that Texas is so huge that people will associate their ranch or farm or home with the nearest big city. Or even the school district that encompasses their property. So when the news folks said Waco, it was just a reference to the nearest big town.
The "beatin' path" is IH-35 and it runs right through Waco between Duluth, MN and Laredo, TX (Say "Thank you" for the geography lesson.) Y'all are welcome!
Chip and Joanne Gaines stomping grounds💕. I wanted to move there but property taxes too high for me. Weather isn’t the best for me either. Thanks for the tour. The new homes are $$$$
I can NOT believe most of the prices you guys show us on here, just for lunch. Never in my wildest dreams, 70+ bucks for two just for LUNCH! I'm going back to America next month after 5 years away and am def not looking forward to the ridiculous prices. How did America become so expensive?
Make it to Waco usually a couple of times year with a place on Stillhouse Hollow Lake between Harker Heights and Salado. Beautiful drive out FM 2484 from Salado where the scenery transitions from the blackland prairie to the Great Plains/Hill Country region with views over the lake; though, it's still very low. Old and interesting towns also in Salado, Belton, and Temple also that were fairly slow growing until the last 10 years.
Paul Quinn moved to Dallas in 1990. If you visit the Baylor University campus, make sure & see the Armstrong-Browning Library, which houses the collection of Robert & Elizabeth Barrett Browning, & the Mayborn Museum.
Nice video! Cool to see the kind of touristy side of Waco. I drive through there all the time but have never actually stopped there (unless you count Collin Street Bakery for the cookies lol). I would have liked to have seen more of the neighborhoods though. The thing that strikes me just driving through is there seems to be a real divide between rich and poor there. Baylor obviously has loads of money and they have the fancy new football stadium and bridge/riverwalk area, but a lot of the neighborhoods look pretty run down. Looks exactly like the sort of place you would tour lol.
I-35 went through the worst part of town. Take a look at Castle Heights & the homes near Lake Waco if you want to see upper middle-class neighborhoods. A lot of middle-class folks have also moved to the suburbs of Woodway, Hewitt, & China Spring.
Wow! Great video! Love the bridge! I love the longhorn statues too❤. Dr. Pepper is awesome. Your food looked delicious ! Looking forward to more Texas!
This was perfect timing cuz I'm @ lunch and I just happened 2 catch ur new vid!! Lunch and a great movie about Waco! Thanx guys. BTW Nicole ur hair looks awesome like that! B safe.
I'd be interested in your viewing of Hillsboro, TX where I grew up in the first 15 years of my life before moving to Oak Ridge North, TX. Still have family in Hillsboro and I visit there a couple times a year.
Nice looking town and that bridge is cool! Like the old silo’s by the restaurant and stores! The restaurant price for two was gouging! I’m fine with a fish meal at McDonald’s lol!
The alico building was the only main building to survive a huge tornado I believe the tornado was in the 50’s or so. Cameron park is nice. Lorena China springs and Woodway Hewitt are the Waco suburbs.
As Brit that loves Dr Pepper I was hoping for the tour 😂 just have to go myself I guess 😊 everything looked amazing although I was pretty surprised on the crime figures. Oh! And loved the yellow colour on your nails Nic. 😊 Thanks Joey for another wonderful tour. Stay safe guys 😊
It's actually pretty safe considering the crime stats. I go down there 3 times a year and never do I feel unsafe. Even when I go to the sketchy parts of town. I love it down there.
Welcome back home to Texas! My family is a big fan of this Channel!! You are very kind to Waco by covering their, otherwise, bad statistics…. “Membership has its privileges”…😊 When are you coming to Round Rock, Texas?
Another great video, thanks Joe. That statue of the coboys and cattle is amazing. 🤠🐂Out of interest, do you still get longhorns or do other breeds take prominence now? With you on Dr Pepper, I'd choose that over cola any day
I live in Waco, and I've never felt unsafe, it's a cute city.... you missed the Castle on Austin Ave.... and next time you're here you need to try Shorty's Pizza and/ or George's
I visited my grandparents in Waco every summer as a kid, but I never knew about that bridge or the Dr. Pepper Museum. I grew up on Dr. Pepper as well as and Big Red soda. And Pink Thing--a creamy popsicle like thing that tasted like raspberry sherbet. When we stayed with my dad‘s parents, Granny always insisted on making us a big breakfast every morning. In that tiny, tiny, tiny little kitchen of their very old house, she would make homemade things like biscuits, gravy, bacon and eggs, sausage, everything you can think of. Good tomes!!! That old house is in a neighborhood that is now being regent fied. It has recently been flipped and remodeled. It looks the same on the outside, but the inside is all modern and new and strange looking. I don’t know if they replaced the window units and built-in ceramic gas heaters with central air and heat or not. My grandparents only had one phone in the entire house, and that was in the hallway. It was an old rotary, dial phone, black, and very, very heavy. It sat on an iron phone stand. They don’t make those anymore. The backyard is many times bigger than the house itself, and the plot of land directly behind that is where my grandparents used to have a giant garden when they were young enough to maintain it. In their latter years it was all overgrown.
Just recently subscribed, love your videos. I know you just got a new camera, don’t know if it’s that or my tv but sometimes I see double . Just once in awhile
Something about Waco . Never spend much time on the east side of 35 . I was raised in Belton and owned a insurance agency in Temple . I have a place in Buckholts . The drive south on 77 is beautiful . Try to go to Calvert some of the most beautiful old Mansions you will ever see . Great Video .
That is a strange menu, there are no prices??? Y'all should have gone to the Health Camp, they have great burgers and shakes. I've always called that town Whacko.
Joe, please have your camera checked out. Motion shots are blurred and I hate to say this, your older camera was far superior. Love the show and thank you for what you and Nicole do.
It's not the camera, the problem is UA-cam. The camera came preset with the new H265 codec. The raw footage looks amazing, but UA-cam has problems encoding it to the platform. I have switched the camera to the common H264 codec, but unfortunately I shot 5 freaking videos not knowing this would happen. Everything will be back to normal with the upcoming rural Arkansas video. :(
Great video! I’m glad you ditched your health food diet for, as “Nicole-the-hot-babe” (hereafter referred to as NTHB 😂)said, “Comfort food”. I hope you two know I’m just an admirer, and not some crazy old coot. Dallas born and raised, I love these cities and towns you take us to. Keep up the great work!
Went streaking at a bar in north gate shopping center in Waco LoL 😂 I won a hundred dollars back then it was worth it LoL thanks for sharing your journey
I know, sorry. :( It's not the camera, it's UA-cam. The camera came preset with the new H265 codec. UA-cam is supposed to be able to encode it for the platform, but clearly they don't have it right yet. The raw footage looks amazing, but the blurring happens during upload. I have reset the camera to the commonly used H264 codec. Unfortunately, I shot 5 videos this way before becoming aware of the problem. I'm going to edit the remaining videos tightly to keep the motion shots to a minimum. The footage will be back to normal - actually, better - beginning with the rural Arkansas video I will have up in a week and a half. :(
12:09 Clubs not gangs Joe and one of my Brothers died that day. I was actually supposed to be at that COC meeting that day but my house flooded from all the rain we had just got so thankfully I wasn’t there.
The "Gaines Effect" has had a tremendous effect on Waco. The downtown has blossomed. The area around Baylor University and i-35 has been completely transformed. We have lived in Texas for 11 years. When we would travel here, before moving, we would roll up the windows, lock the doors and travel a little faster as we went through Waco. At that time, the I35 corridor was "sketchy" to say the least. The flip side of this "improvement" is some residents, are mad at the Gaines'. They are mad because the value of their properties have risen. And their property taxes went up as a result. Seems to be a common theme in Texas; "we are happy with depression..."
Now I know why the song "Cross the Brazos at Waco" was written, if you have not heard the song, look it up. Thanks for the video, as always, very interesting, and informative. Now I'm hungry for sure.
I know, sorry. :( Here's the story with footage: It's not the camera, it's UA-cam. The camera came preset with the new H265 codec. Fun fact as a Waco native I can tell you the neighborhood you drove through is wacos ghetto known as east Waco that part of town and north Waco where I’m from are the main area for high crime levels and poverty a lot of people don’t know this about Waco but it’s heavily segregated most of that white population stays closer to the woodway and Hewitt area or the China springs area where neighborhoods are newer and nicer but in north and east Waco and some parts of south Waco it’s mostly where black and Hispanic people live at and this is the areas where most of the crime and poverty is it’s crazy to think about and yea Waco is very diverse but also very divided as well aside from the Baylor kids but most Baylor kids don’t even be from Waco it’s honestly next to impossible for most Waco native to get into Baylor since it’s a private school unless you can secure a scholarship or your family is extremely loaded your best chance at farther education is our community college or technical colleges especially with schooling the way it is it’s very difficult for the average Waco citizen to make something of themselves here there’s opportunities and resources here but they’re only more readily available for people with money to blow for it which most natives here don’t have
Not a complaint, but please tell me you did a Waco video previously -- because I swear you guys showed the Dr. Pepper museum and Magnolia before. The only other 'traveling' youtuber I watch is Nick Johnson, and I don't think he'd be doing those places. In any case, looking forward to your travels in S. Texas. (S. Padre Island? ;-)
We did. Our very first travel video. It's pretty crappy, lol. It was really just for practicing and trying to figure out how to structure the videos. Upcoming we'll be visiting Shiner, Victoria, Palacios, Port Lavaca & Port Arthur. :)
OHhh man the summer of 1991 my mom moved us to Waco from Lott, another never-heard-of town. We lived in an awful neighborhood, just about ten blocks from THE BRANCH DAVIDIANS, who were perfectly normal, saw them at HEB all the time,. We were close enough to hear the black helicopters and the blaring country music screeching and flashing lights nonstop from the ATF torturing them. Eek. We moved again in 93 just to get away from that!
How far south tx cus I saw one of your videos where you were close to the river that separate usa with mexico. I would love to see Edinburg tx in your video that's where I'm from
I learn so much travelling along with you & Nicole. Interesting place. I'm a Dr Pepper fan myself & had no idea it was invented in Waco Texas. Thank goodness it's still available in Canada. He died in 95' at 69yo, due to complications of the cancer. He was proud of the fact he lived atleast 10 years longer than his dad and grandfather.
Thanks for really great videos, Joe. Greetings from Finland.
love Waco great little town lived there for 6 years.
Loved the cowboy and long horn statues! They would be worth the trip out there~ The old bridge was nifty too! Thanks.
A great video. I’ve been to Waco a few times. Only fault I have is it’s just bigger and more populated than what I’m comfortable in. Keep traveling I’ll keep watching

We did enjoy South Texas. We visited places we have never seen, despite living in the state for over 30 years! :)
Thanks for sharing another Texas town.
We do love watching your videos.

My family crossed that bridge on a wagon shortly after the bridge opened, came from AR. Still relatives in the area.

Interesting history on that bridge. Kudos to the engineers who designed it. Thanks for sharing!
the Waco suspension bridge across the Brazos was on the Chisholm Trail . . nice video!
WOW...that lunch was expensive ! Having the TV Show originate in Waco, hasn't always been the best for the community. It has gotten really expensive. Thank you for the tour 😁

That is a beautiful suspension bridge very impressive love it. 1870 well keep
Thanks for the tour of Waco. Been to Dallas/Austin/San Antonio/Houston a lot, but Waco is off the beaten path and I've always been curious.
The "beatin' path" is IH-35 and it runs right through Waco between Duluth, MN and Laredo, TX
(Say "Thank you" for the geography lesson.)
Y'all are welcome!
Chip and Joanne Gaines stomping grounds💕. I wanted to move there but property taxes too high for me. Weather isn’t the best for me either. Thanks for the tour. The new homes are $$$$

Where have you been living?
You can always just stay where you are
Politics got us where we are at
Not to mention that you will need another meal hours later!😂
Gimme a break. They spend $100 on lunch because they WANT to spend that, besides, a portion is tax deductible to them.
Amazing video about this beautiful city Waco!
I had a great uncle that was a county clerk for years in Bell County. RH Turner’s family lived in Belton.
Belton is my home town. It’s crazy how much it’s grown over the years. I lived in Temple as well over the years but now live in north Texas.
Paul Quinn moved to Dallas in 1990. If you visit the Baylor University campus, make sure & see the Armstrong-Browning Library, which houses the collection of Robert & Elizabeth Barrett Browning, & the Mayborn Museum.
Had always heard of Waco, only thing I knew about it was that Baylor was there. Very good, informative video, 2 thumbs up as usual
Would have been interesting to see the Branch Davidian complex site.
Wow! Great video! Love the bridge! I love the longhorn statues too❤. Dr. Pepper is awesome. Your food looked delicious ! Looking forward to more Texas!
Thank you, Alexandra. :)
Great video Joe! Very impressive bridge and history. Best wishes from the UK!
Love Waco. You missed the mammoth National Park between the Bosque and Brazos rivers.
This was perfect timing cuz I'm @ lunch and I just happened 2 catch ur new vid!! Lunch and a great movie about Waco! Thanx guys. BTW Nicole ur hair looks awesome like that! B safe.
Thank you for the road trips. I so enjoy watching.
Another great video, but you forgot to visit the The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum.
I really love living in Waco. Great town.
Thanks so much for the Texas videos! I really have enjoyed them!
No Cats Found, 💗 Chip and Joanna for sure. Nicky's hair looks nice and your food was yummy looking.
I’m fine with a fish meal at McDonald’s lol!
enjoyed the use of old photograph stills
Never can go wrong with bacon 👍 we wre on the road ourselves. Tennesse and North Carolina. Safe travel folks
I was a "Pepper" too - way too sweet for me now but in my day... 🙌🥰
Very cool video, Joe.
Lots of interesting things to see.
Lunch looked really good, now I need to find something to eat lol :)
Great video. Makes me want to visit Waco.
Hey Joe. Thanks for the new upload. This video also has some blurring as the previous one. Not sure if the issue is with your camera.
My hometown big red was also invented in waco
The alico building was the only main building to survive a huge tornado I believe the tornado was in the 50’s or so. Cameron park is nice. Lorena China springs and Woodway Hewitt are the Waco suburbs.

👍Great. That is down right outrageous for a lunch! 🤔hmm, I wonder if Wurstfest is next.
Good video looking forward to next one
Thanks 👍
Welcome back home to Texas!
My family is a big fan of this Channel!!
You are very kind to Waco by covering their, otherwise, bad statistics…. “Membership has its privileges”…😊
When are you coming to Round Rock, Texas?
Most likely this spring.
Another great video, thanks Joe. That statue of the coboys and cattle is amazing. 🤠🐂Out of interest, do you still get longhorns or do other breeds take prominence now? With you on Dr Pepper, I'd choose that over cola any day

12:05 how the heck did I never hear about this!! Crazy 😧
That bridge is way older than 1872. That is from Tartaria or that bridge was built by and/or for Prester John.
Thanks, Jim!
I took a road trip to Texas from Minnesota back in 1994 right after the ordeal in Waco.
18 minutes went 1 minute. Thank you Joe
Food looking good! Food seams expensive there. Here in Sweden you get 4 - 5 pizza. Maybe 9 - 10 hamburger with fries and Coke.
Away from the tourists, you will find the usual chain restaurants, which are priced what they are priced everywhere else in the U.S.
Whoa…such generous tip😊
We're ex bartenders, so we tip well. :)
SPODES LET'S HIT IT BROTHER!!❤
Hell ‘ya! 👍
Went streaking at a bar in north gate shopping center in Waco LoL 😂 I won a hundred dollars back then it was worth it LoL thanks for sharing your journey

Yes. New camera is very blurry.

Love your videos however your phone. Camera is blurry when panning around. Not sure if you're aware of it.
I know, sorry. :(
Here's the story with footage: It's not the camera, it's UA-cam. :(
Ok, thank you for the explanation. Keep up the great videos. I'm always looking forward to the next one.
Fun fact as a Waco native I can tell you the neighborhood you drove through is wacos ghetto known as east Waco that part of town and north Waco where I’m from are the main area for high crime levels and poverty a lot of people don’t know this about Waco but it’s heavily segregated most of that white population stays closer to the woodway and Hewitt area or the China springs area where neighborhoods are newer and nicer but in north and east Waco and some parts of south Waco it’s mostly where black and Hispanic people live at and this is the areas where most of the crime and poverty is it’s crazy to think about and yea Waco is very diverse but also very divided as well aside from the Baylor kids but most Baylor kids don’t even be from Waco it’s honestly next to impossible for most Waco native to get into Baylor since it’s a private school unless you can secure a scholarship or your family is extremely loaded your best chance at farther education is our community college or technical colleges especially with schooling the way it is it’s very difficult for the average Waco citizen to make something of themselves here there’s opportunities and resources here but they’re only more readily available for people with money to blow for it which most natives here don’t have
You"re generous tippers !
We are. :)
Please go back to the old camera! You did a great job filming, but the new and better camera was not keeping up. Most of the images were blurry. 😢
Wow way to expensive at the restaurant. Just for lunch. And the cokes five bucks a piece. Wow.
The FBI have a lot to answer for, then and especially now. Bill Hicks did a great rant on the subject which is well worth a watch.
😮that restaurant is pricey..$5 coke wow
Crazy things, huh? I guess that's why some people call it Wacko.😮😅
You made me go get a Dr pepper out of the fridge. So good 👍
How far south tx cus I saw one of your videos where you were close to the river that separate usa with mexico. I would love to see Edinburg tx in your video that's where I'm from
We will visit Edinburg soon. This trip we visited gulf coast towns between Corpus Christi and the Louisiana border.
Cute hairstyle Nicole.
Thanks for the history lesson! :)
PS; I think Waco PD and FD are awesome....
