I was married at the Silver Queen in Virginia City in 2002, Since divorced but it's nice to see this place once again. If you like this type of town, and you are anywhere near Arkansas, you must visit Eureka Springs.

I like how informative you are and how you spread the info throughout the video, rather than giving it all to us at once lol. I'm into architecture, so it's cool that you emphasize on some of the buildings. Take care.

You can thank Jim Mars hof Las Vegas ( well known car dealer) for revitalizing many of these smaller towns and saloons.
My father (Glenn Wheeler Hildreth) owned the Knights of Pithious (sp) hall in Virginia City where he maintained
an antique store and his domicile for many years. He was responsible for the resurrection
of many historic buildings across Nevada. And, one time president of the Nevada Historical
Society and caretaker of Mark Twain's effects.

Most of the resident own the businesses and renovated them themselves. I lived there for many years. My Dad was deputy sheriff there.

Well you opened the eyes of those who have only flown to Vegas and back. Didn't know Nevada had mountains or hills. Feels like West Virginia. And pristine little towns.

The summer of 71, I was 16 and spent my summer vacation in Gardnerville, NV. Worked a swing shift at Harvey's Buffet line and made a friend who happened to live in VC. @2:05 there are 2 houses on the left, a blue one with the flag flying and a yellow house. My friend lived in the yellow house, which I visited at least a dozen times that summer. Nevada's legislature was in session only 6 months every other year then and 71 was an off year, so Carson City and VC were virtual ghost towns. Imagine walking the VC "main" street without all of the flags, banners and signs cluttering up the buildings. Without brightly painted buildings and store fronts it reminded me of a street scene from "Gunsmoke", except for the asphalt road. The Bucket of Blood interior, where my friend's mother worked, wasn't painted all white and clean looking. Dark walls, uneven floor, low interior lighting with only what light came in through the front entrance made it seem like you actually transported back to the late 1800s. What you see today is almost a Disney characterization of what Virginia City once was.

Carson city looks to be the town of dreams almost perfection, especially those white picket fences ,houses well kept ,good size sections , reminds one of the older TV shows when life was different, eben though they were filmed in studio sets and streets ,all this thinking of life perfect, then one wakes up and faces reality.

Thanks for the awesome video as always - I loved visiting Virginia City as a kid, I've always been fascinated by its history. A word of advice from an Oakland resident since you mentioned coming here soon: keep your car doors locked at all times and do not leave anything in your car; your car will be a target for bippers (auto burglars) due to its out of state plates. Looking forward to your upcoming NorCal and Oregon videos and travel safe!

I LOVE rural Nevada (and New Mexico). The the intro of this video reminded me of the time when I lived in Vegas, for a few months, and loved when we got outside of Vegas to beautiful places like that. Lived in Northern Nevada, 20 miles south of CC for 25 years. It was a trully wonderful place then. Traffic held up all the time for cattle drives and stores named like "Carson Valley Mercantile" and "Perry's Dry Goods" sold items used by "REAL LIVE COWBOYS". Definitely not the rhinestone kind we have now. The nearest doctor was in CC. Then about 1980 we finally got a doc that came to town once a week. Miss it a lot. All gone now but not forgotten. Thanks for bringing back a bunch of wonderful memories.

My family lived in Carson City when I was a teenager in the mid and late 70s, my little sister was born there. We were one of 4 African American families at the time. The husband of a neighbor of ours did maintainance for the Bunny Ranch, one Saturday he was called in for an emergency and with my parents permission I went with him. Got to conversate with a couple of the ladies there, they were really nice, it wasn't busy that time of day . 🤣 I often hung out at Stewart Indian School and Carson Indian Colony with friends .

Thanks for the tour of Virginia City! In 2004 I took my friend to his Blinded Veterans' Convention in Reno and we explored the whole area, including Virginia City, Tahoe, and even the Donner Party museum. He loved riding with me and I'd explain everything I was seeing to him. Unfortunately, there was no place to park in Virginia City, and seeing he also had a steel rod through his leg, we couldn't walk that far into the town. So I'm happy to see the town and the neighborhoods up in the hills through your eyes. Thanks!

V.C. has soooo much history and places of interest I like the store front door ways each had their date on the bottoms of the doors, the graveyards, people n way of life.... made a few videos about V.C. even petting donkeys waking through the graveyards excellent town.... Better than most of the "Old West Towns"..... Carson City has everything history wise Governors house n a Train Museum we stayed there n went to Lake Tahoe n V.C..... Reno we were disappointed how run down it's gotten with women walking the streets at noon time.. smh. Took a few old train rides around V.C. and checked out Lake Tahoe both Nevada n California sides n what a difference between the 2 states.. Like northern Nevada better than L.V.... Safe travels MegaBait n as always thumbs up....

can't wait for your tour of California. there are so many beautiful small towns in the central valley of CA. I grew up in Esparto, located near the Capay Valley on the western side of the Central Valley. Our area is known for almond production and for hosting the annual Almond Festival.

Wow, I'm surprised how green things are in the opening shots--I'd expect everything to be bone dry this time of year. Despite Virginia City being such a tourist town, as you've shown it's a cool place to walk around to check out the buildings and window shop. Kit Carson "communicated" with Native Americans...well, that's one way to put it--his reputation with the Navajo isn't good to say the least. Looking forward to seeing your impressions of NorCal, Oregon and Washington in the upcoming episodes as I just passed through the areas a month ago. Happy trails!
By the way, since you're interested in things wild west-related, I highly recommend a visit to the Range Riders Museum in Miles City Montana.

Something to try while out west as an appetizer, Rocky Mountain Oysters. The ones I had were "chicken fried" thin-sliced (1/8") bull testicles. They were excellent and tasted just like beef tenderloin which is appropriate since that word contains "loin." NO JOKE.
