ive only had one monte cristo but i had it a lot. it was from a place called bennigans. the way that was made was with turkey, ham, swiss, and american cheese. the whole thing was battered and deep fried then had powdered sugar on top and you put jam on it. no mayo and mustard. that is just wrong with jam lol
Not sure where you guys got the recipe for a Monte Christo, but that is NOT one. Worked at this local Breakfast / Brunch place where I live that made the most delicious M.C! The bread should basically be "French Toast", grilled ham and Turkey, some white sauce I forget, and some sort of white cheese of your choosing. Some dip it in honey or maple, and I've seen places give you a side of powdered sugar. That's it, definitely no Jelly ABSOLUTLY no mustard, and mayo might be the white sauce I mentioned before, but I don't think so.
I liken the Monte Cristo .. to a after christmas dinner sandwich .. with cranberries inside .. also .. can I say that mustard comes in many different types .. the cheapest mustard tends to be tangy and harsh ... but if you spend a bit more .. get.. say .. Djion mustard that is made with dark mustard seeds .. you will see a huge difference in taste and complexity. Great job on the sandwich Charlie!
That actually sounds like the perfect time to eat one at Christmas! Thanks for the tip kn mustard, put it this way, any mustard you guys have is better than English mustard 😂
I never thought the Monte Cristo sounded very good. Reheated turkey is already weird tasting and mayo is vile, and the whole thing sounds like a pain in the ass to prepare. I LOLed when you used raspberry jam because it's like an order of magnitude stronger than every other jam out there. Seems like just one ingredient too much to me. A BLT sounds like something you all would like. But cold leftover turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy on a sandwich the day after Thanksgiving is one of the greatest things ever. I'm sure some people will be grossed out that it's cold, but whatever, I heat up the gravy👍🏽😋🥪 I'd rather wear the boots 24/7, and I don't care what the rules are, I'm removing the soles so I can wear my own shoes under them and take them off at night, it'll still have the steel toe. It would still suck, but not as much as the hat, imo.
Poor Charlie. 🤣 It's ok. I understand. I wouldn't have been able to swallow something that tastes horrible either. Never tried this sandwich, but mustard and mayo are a no-go for me. I'm not sure on whether the jam/jelly is a critical component of the sandwich. Taste buds do change over time, so it's possible that you're starting to come around to mustard, Max. There's things I've come to like as I got older. I think I'd have to go with the hat. Your feet would get absolutely destroyed by wearing those boots 24/7. Ever heard of Trench foot? There's no way you'd be able to wear the hat while you sleep. You wouldn't be able to put your head down. You'd have to sleep sitting up or something. Catch you guys on the next one.
LOL! Charlies reaction! I've seen it on some menus, but this is one things I've never even tried! Both choices, as usual, would be bad, but it would be better to always have the boots on your feet than to always have a helmet on!
OH, MAN!!! LOVE ME A MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH!!! I SO HOPE you-guys LOVE THIS ONE!!! :) HUGS from TEXAS!!! P. S. I've never dipped mine in jam, tho....hmmmm....
No sugar or jelly and I'm in on the sandwich. My suggestion to try is a Jersey classic: Disco Fries. Fries, Mozzarella Cheese & Brown Gravy. It's a late night staple for every drunk person at a Diner 😂
I keep telling them to try a New Jersey sloppy Joe, but I don’t think they’re listening! They should also do Taylor ham egg & cheese, but I don’t know where they’d find the Taylor ham
@kristophergoordman7225 I thought about Pork Roll (Jersey Shore gal here so it's Pork Roll to me 😂 ) Egg & Cheese but then I remembered they probably wouldn't be able to find it. Shame because I'd know they'd love it.
I have never heard of putting jam on a Monte Cristo sandwich. If you are finding you like the mustard, that yellow mustard is way tangy and sour. Go for a brown mustard or honey mustard. Even a Dijon.
I've had smash toasties, yep plain(nothing added, cos I had nowt)instant mashed potato in a toasted sarnie.Ive even had cornflake&tomato sauce sarnies-bit like a crisp sarnie🙂that sounds yuk(the MC) 😂
Honestly, I don’t think that sandwich is a thing nobody puts powdered sugar and jelly on the outside of the sandwich now something that’s very similar to that would be to take two pieces of bread, mayonnaise mustard, ham, or turkey sauce, and stuffing and you call that a Thanksgiving sandwich And that’s kind of close but I definitely think that Thanksgiving would taste 1 million times better
It is a thing. It’s on some restaurants menus. I had it once in a bar/restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin. I don’t remember it having mustard and mayo on it.
Monte Cristo sandwiches taste like ass. I agree with you, buttercups. To asscociate the nasty sandwich with an amazing movie like the Count of Monte Cristo is tragic. 🙃
I'll chose neither of these.. lol My hair is way long and I have literally kicked my shoes off and hiked the 4 miles back barefoot. lol I can't deal with my feet covered at night.
@@littleqwerty Boneless isn't necessary (boneless wings aren't real wings imho). Garlic Parmesan is a great mild flavor for wings though. I like garlic so, if I was doing the Frank's with butter, I'd be adding some fresh garlic into it (I've actually done this and they were delicious).
You’re right boneless wings are just chunks of chicken breast. But I do prefer them sometimes because there are a lot easier to eat. No muss no fuss! But actual buffalo sauce is basically just Franks and butter. There are restaurants near me that have hundreds of different wing sauces on their menu. One place has a sauce made with Baileys. NGL it was actually pretty good!
I want to support you but there's no way I can walk around in a "Tissue Boy" shirt. I take enough crap from the general populace as it is. Where's the links to the wardrobe merch or is all y'all had was the King of Paper Towels shirts you'n wear?
🤣🤣🤣 hilarious.. welcome to the Bloomie Family 🥳🙌. Thank you for joining and supporting us. We are currently in the process of sorting out some tissue boy merch and will provide a link when it's available lol 😆
It normally doesn't have mayo and mustard.
Actually, Dijon mustard is an ingredient.

The jam&icing sugars wrong😢

The actual sandwich ...the bread on out side is like a donut... fluffy fried dough...that's why jam goes with it...more.

HONEY MUSTARD!
Guys we are an adventurous lot 😂❤. We see something good and decide to add more! It's the American way. Great video! ❤

Beaver's honey mustard and grey poupon Dijon are my favourites. Very different taste, but both are my go to 😊
Everything is optional in the USA
I'm American born and raised in California and I can't get on board with the jam on a savoury sandwich 🥪. It's just all sorts of wrong 😂

Great vid lads❤ knew Charlie was not going to like the jam🤮 maybe try again without mayo and mustard .. yummy.. oh boy fancy one now😂😂
Had Monte Cristo's plenty of time as a 65 yr old it's probably 100 times never even heard of jam on it that's nuts
It's really common and comes with it on the side in most restaurants that serve it.
It came with jam every time I have seen it served at a restaurant.
Morning. Early bird gets the…. Kris. Lol
As a 61-year-old American, I have never heard of a monte cristo sandwich until this year I am watching something on UA-cam
No mustard...or any sauce....Just the JAM
TGI Fridays had the Best Monte Cristo back in the 90s. 😬
LOL! Charlies reaction!
I've seen it on some menus, but this is one things I've never even tried!

WE do watch...our British cousins
😎🫡
Look up the Disneyland recipe. That version is the most common (and doesnt have mayo or mustard)
You really need to watch jolly’s two Brit’s try classic American pies Those are what apple pie and Frito pie should look like and taste like.
Watched, and we've taken it on board. London is in the works 🤘
OH, MAN!!! LOVE ME A MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH!!! I SO HOPE you-guys LOVE THIS ONE!!! :) HUGS from TEXAS!!! P. S. I've never dipped mine in jam, tho....hmmmm....
The health benefits of mustard are due to its anti-microbial, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Steel toes and it's not even close
You have to go mustard and mayo or jam/jelly only! They don't mix well!
Not a big fan of Monte Cristo sandwiches - although I never had it with jam, just powdered sugar. I'm curious to see how the guys react to it.
No sugar or jelly and I'm in on the sandwich.

I guess you can tell which end of the state I’m from then.
@@kristophergoordman7225 immediately 🤣🤣 both my parents were from Hudson County!

American mustard tastes different from the mustard standardly used I'm the UK.
It is my understanding that UK mustard is hotter
Oh yeah, and good morning to you too Val

I've had monte cristo sandwich, but the jam is not happening for me. It's not making sense and shouldn't be 😂.
I'll chose neither of these.. lol My hair is way long and I have literally kicked my shoes off and hiked the 4 miles back barefoot. lol I can't deal with my feet covered at night.
Who in the hell made that Monte?
Blame Charlie, the guy on the left 🤣
Is this really only from four minutes ago? Because I’ve been looking all morning and then suddenly, bam ,they post and you comment.
🤣🤣🤣
@@littleqwerty will we see you today? I don’t wanna speak out of turn and tell everyone that you might not show up.

Why would you torture yourselves with a fruit/jam topped sandwich if you don't like fruit?
You always have to try stevie Boy! Always.
That sounds like the worst Monti Cristo I have ever seen
Monte Cristo is the King of sandwiches
no-one eats that sandwich anymore.
I'm about to start...
It's not a doughnut though??
It is in a sense. Fried batter.
You act like eating jam is like youre eating squid from a chum bucket
