If you can't get it right try practicing the moves like au de frente, de costa, reversao, meia lua reversao etc... a lot. Just go out and practice this family of moves until you master them one by one, au helicopteiro is probably the most difficult, but it's worth the effort.
In case you're wondering, I've learned au de frente first, secondly meia lua/au reversao, then helicopteiro, and lastly au de costa:P

1) I think you should try on the ml reversao side because the landing is almost the same, and thats the most difficult part of the move IMO.
2)I don't exactly know. The legs are kinda in front the whole time. You can't have your body kept straight in line like in acrobatic carthweel, your legs should be slightly bent forward in relation to your arms+torso, but also you have to maintain the center of gravity above your hands or you'll land directly in front of you instead of to the side.

I had this too when I was learning meia lua reversao, at one point you should catch balance on you hands, you must stop in the middle of the move, don't just go through ... one other common error people do is that they don't swing legs circularly, they just switch them, doing the "au switch" (au trocando?) wich is a different move (and they usually fail anyway). If you post a video reply I will be able to tell.

My helicoptero is still being worked on.. I've got the get more height on the leg and then bring it down harder I guess..

Great vid. I practiced the move today, but I still have a ways to go. I will keep reviewing your vid and see how much closer I can get with practice.

join a grupo, really, there's no such things as other people watching you and telling you what you do wrong!!!
about the moving, warp your pelvis, and practice practice practice, you'll advance faster when you're in a grupo though...
And this isn't a move you should learn in the beginning, learn to play first, it's fun :D(i'm not telling you you shouldn't :) )

Yes I think that in your group they might call it raiz (I think thats how they call it in grupo capoeira brasil for example).
You are probably thinking about the right move, it starts like a meia lua but follows up with an extra second kick with the second leg.
(To me raiz is the version without any hands)

And I wish I'd had it warm outside throughout the whole year like you have there in Portugal.
(yeah the gym helps but I spend my first 30 minutes unfreezing and low temperatures don't really encourage practicing)
I'd have to see it. Try putting more momentum forward, to make it easier for you to get up while standing on just one leg. Flexibility also helps, so if you are not flexible, maybe the easiest way for you would be increasing it - when legs are far apart the move is more powerful. I bet the cause of the problem is that its hard for you to carry your center of mass over you landing foot - if you don't put the second leg on the ground you fall backwards right?
i do taekwondo but ima try 2 learn this move..always wanted 2 do capoera after tkd
@WeirdArtista I think it's the same setup as with a regular au. Near the end you will have to let go one hand.

I think the transition at the end should be softer. I'm trying to work on that..

well, maybe so. I don't care much:P I'm practicing it on my other side now and other moves. I've seen your helicopteiro, you don't sweep your leg very low, but it looks softer at the end than mine I think.
Some people finish it a little differently by pushing in their hip sideways, you could try that, check out how Queque does it(if you haven't seen him add "/watch?v=wdIBKH-Nk8w" to the youtube URL)
Dude this move is so sick, i really wanna learn it... in freerunning we have cheat gainers, I feel like this is like a cheat Air flare except it's way cooler :L

i find when i do this move i smash my first foot into the ground cause i kick round pretty hard and it hurts, guess i need more control?
i have a problem with it i do the helicoptero normal but its hard to land it for me and i end up landing it sort of like a negativa is this because im not flexible enough?
Is there a certain way I should position my arms when I go into it in order to land standing?
Hey dude , please help me. I can't land the helicopteiro with one leg. My legs always connect at the end and my hips seem to collapse a little bit. How do I keep that leg in the air and swing it around like in meia lua reversao?
