Thanks. My kx250 has been great untill recently. The engine revs up real high on a cold start, then acts like its rich spitting oil out the back and fouling plugs. Glad i dont have to split the cases
Some seals have a depth setting. I cant remember if it was my yz125 or Cr250. It had a 2mm outset. If pressed in flush it would restrict the bearings getting oiled. Cost me a crank.
Same bike, my plugs are fouling and also what seems like gear oil pouring out of the pipe when i took it off too. It was enough to create a nice garage floor memory. Just rebuilt the carb and top end so I'm eliminating possibilities at this point, I'm thinking this is my problem. Gotta drain my oil and see what levels I'm at 🥴
Im rebuilding a 01 yz250, but Im not rebuilding the bottom, only the top, cause I found out it seized from coolant leaking into head from missing gasket behind water pump, so lets just hope I dont have to do more when I grt this bike done, Ive pretty much mostly rebuilt or replaced everything
Hey what do we do after we change the crank seal? Do I need to drain any existing stuff? cuz I changed it and I immediately notice a difference but looks like it needs to be cleared out?
Hi my DT 125 LC mk1 leaks a red coloured fluid/oil on 3 spots underneath my engine would this also be the Crank seal or would it be fuel from my cilinder and or carburator? bike runs great but doesnt idle to well
I’m assuming your transmission oil is red? Common oil leaks are around the shift shaft, front sprocket, or possibly the kick starter. Unless it’s something faulty like a case seam is leaking or the crush washer on your drain plug is messed up or not there. This seal wouldn’t leak fluid on the ground. I’d lean towards the stuff I said in the beginning. Get under it and wipe the bottom of your motor really good and clean and then check it every few minutes and see what gets wet again. That’s a good way to see where a leak is coming from. Good luck!!
Uhhhhhh………. I gave it the ugga duggas 🤷🏻♂️😅 not all of them but a could quick jabs with a 3/8 Milwaukee impact while holding the basket with my hand 😬
The bike ran good for the first 20 hrs of the rebuild. But then out of no where it started fouling plugs. So I started with the carb and made sure I didn’t have a jet falling out or anything and that checked out good so I assumed it was the seal. It did fix it btw but ya. That’s how I got to that point lol
@@ToyShopRestorationsI think that might be the same problem for my 04 Cr85RB I wonder if I should pull the reeds, re jet, before I pull the case off? But bogs down smoke 💨 like crazy and no powerband and she leaks oil like a lot lizard in heat 😂
Possibly. I know because it was sucking oil here it loaded my silencer packing with oil and it would smolder and white smoke would roll out of the silencer even with the bike shut off. So it’s possible. But check to see if you’re using coolant or not. Could be head gasket.

To get those seals out you can also use a small pick. Those work good too

😳 that’s good to know! Sorry you had to learn the hard way 😅

Oof 😅 well I hope this helps! It fixed my bike

Dang. Well hopefully it didn’t leak into the bottom end
Great vid. Saved me alot of trouble!!!
Awesome! Didn't know that about the slide hammer!!
It comes in handy A LOT! 😂

Would a leaking gear case seal exhibit blow by coming out of the gear case filler hole with cap off?
I’d think the clutch basket was just throwing it out of the hole as it spun 🤔
i have a 125 and keep fouling plugs, also the smell is not really good even if i use good premix, i guess i have to change the seal
Yup definitely could be the issue

@@ToyShopRestorations thanks man!
how did u torqe the clutch nut without the holder tool?

@@ToyShopRestorations good enough for me i guess ill do the same haha

Will this video work with a yz125 yamaha
I’m sure it’s very similar
do you need any special tools?
A slide hammer makes it easier but not really
This also causes white fumes ??

Did it fix it?
It did! I haven’t fouled a plug since!
My bike smokes excessively. Would a bad seal be the cause?
Could be lots of things. I’m assuming it’s a two stroke? I was fouling plugs like crazy that’s how I knew it was burning motor oil
