      Yes, you are right. I made this a habit. I always have nice small talks with stranges and they always made my day and I make theirs. I often complement other women about hairdo, necklaces, dresses, hats or shoes and this always makes them happy. I smile at children and I tell people they have beautiful dogs. I always ask the waiters or barristas how they are. And I call folks "luv" and "darling" and "angel" when I am in England. (You cannot do that here in Germany) It makes all the difference.

      And you have to tip people in restaurants and taxis and other places maybe, not in stores though I think.
      Waiters in restaurants make most of thei salary on tips and that's very rude not to tip them.

      Annika Mol it’s not usually that bad because it’s easy to calculate, so i can easily find out how much i’m paying. tennessee sales tax is 9%, though mostly rounded up to 10. so for every dollar i spend, ten cents is added to the total. it may seem annoying to always make sure you have enough with tax but i like math lmaoo

      The AUD is pretty low like 0,66 euro, and live cost pretty high, everything is bit expensive because wages are pretty crazy (minimal wage is like $20/hours depends of the state). So Australia is expensive if you do not work here. Only alcohol in supermarket is crazy expensive

    Cost of life in Paris
    Extremely Expensive : rent.
    Relatively Expensive : food
    Relatively affordable : Transportation (pass navigo, velib)
    Affordable :
    Movies (UGC pass)
    Museums (one free day per month in most museums)
    Sports (Swimming, Tennis,... when not on strike)
    Concerts (Goes from free to very expensive)
    Health care (Social security)
    To sum up, you have a big entry price (rent), then you can live with almost nothing and still have fun.

      I've been in London for 2 weeks as a french (kinda broke) tourist. I had to sleep in a cheap Easy Hotel (from Easyjet), after flying in an Easyjet plane and taking an Easybus from the airport :D. The cheapest and smallest hotel room you can find near the center of London.
      To eat, everything was so expansive that for the evening meal I was buying takeway pizzas they bake at Sainsburys. It was the cheapest food I could find. And their pizzas are huge compared to french one! First time I took a big one and I could only eat half of it when I can eat a whole one in France. :D
      I loved London though.

      @Soso_6654 6 років тому +109

      Miguel Angel Sosa Rodriguez it's not really like that, we just had so many problems because of (95%of thé time) men in the street...
      Of course if someone asks me a direction or something he's looking for, there is no problem, but for strangers who accost you from nowhere , yeah it's just annoying..i walk on the street to go somewhere , not to be accosted by strange and insistent men😅
      I dont say it's in every european country like that, but in France, yeah , it became like that 😅
      And with the comment here, you can see in britain too😹
      You can be social with people met during partys, or thanks to Friends, or during activities, but like that it's just suspicious , awkward and makes us uncomfortable

    • @binaryflip6129
      @binaryflip6129 6 років тому +59

      Miguel Angel Sosa Rodriguez not europeans, just people in general.
      But yeah, in many countries in Europe we are extremely bitchy or annoyed and we don’t like to smile, or talk, but most of the time it’s in big cities.
      It’s not that we don’t like socializing but huuuuu I guess we are pretty busy people so we prefer to not talk ?
      I don’t know mannn x)
      I love to compliment people on their clothes in the street xD

      For anyone reading this, the average monthly wage in Spain is around 600-700 euros. So everything has to be cheaper as a result of the much lower wages. Best food imo is in Italy and super cheap without the Chinese immigrants setting up Spanish/Italian cuisine restaurants that taste like crap like in Spain.

    Sorry but that’s without the rent...!! I spent 3 years as a student in Paris with a stipend that paid 1000€ / month. I paid 700€ rent and had 300€ for living expenses, I spent most of the time in the bibliotheque nationale where café au lait used to cost 1,50€ and you get internet and comfy chairs as well as all the books in the world. It wasn’t bad but it was tight. I remember that time fondly though - when you have to count every penny you pay so much attention to things.

    I’m French, living in Strasbourg, France. I did this kind of experiment several times there, when feeling depressed or sad, just leaving my flat with 20€ in my pocket and nothing more. There is quite a lot of things to do with this amount of money in France, since you can find food for less than 5€, and things like theatre don’t cost much when you’re a student.
    Well, I love living in France.
    As an example, I usually have about 5/7 euros per day to live, cooking by myself and so on.

I'm sure you can encounter talkative people EVERYWHERE on the planet. The only difference is cultutre & language, which is what I was paying attention too, but y'all love pointing out differences (negatively)too freaking much! Just enjoy the beauty of the differences.
